I haven't found Tigerton at Dell. Do you have the link and availability?
HP states "call for availability" for their two Tigerton servers http://h71016.www7.hp.com/dstore/MiddleFrame.asp?page=config&ProductLineId=431&FamilyId=2635&BaseId=23381&oi=E9CED&BEID=19701&SBLID= and...
Good list to confirm my previous post. Thanks.

04/22/03. Do you guys remember this date? yes, K8 Opteron launch. Were we flooded with reviews around the internet? not at all.
About four reviews the launch date; Toms, Anand, ExtremeTech (if it can be named review)and Tecchannel (the fifth was about two weeks later, 05/07/03)...
People lose perspective since the beginning (some of them because they are plain fanboys).
Let's recover it ;)
AMD has launched eight (I guess) server processor for two of the three server market segments (I think all will agree, there are three basic segments: entry level, mid level, and...

Quad K8L has 512kb L2 per core and 2mb L3 shared. Dual K8L, 512kb L2 per core, and 2mb (perhaps 1mb) L3 shared.
Where have you read FX-7x 256kb L2?
And Quad K8L 256kb L2?
And 3) The dailytech roadmap doesn't come from AMD ;)
The situation is very clear. The only official and direct source we have about K8L are slides from AMD Analyst Day. And they clearly state that K8L will be launched for both (server and desktop) in mid 2007. End of story.
Sources?
Because AMD (you know, the manufacturer) doesn't say that. AMD schedule K8L for servers and desktop in mid 2007. Look at last (June 2006) AMD Analyst Day slides. This is the only official source as far as I know right now, isn't it?
Thats your own speculation, and I disagree greatly ;)
You said there's not a article out there that says K8L will be on the AM2 package.
Well, I say there's not an article out there that says K8L will be on the AM3 package only. In fact, AMD statements implict the contrary (again, they have...
K8L will include both memory controller! This is a fact.
Look at AMD analyst day. They clearly said K8L will be for DDR2 first. And the only socket with DDR2 support is AM2.
There is K8L for AM2. Why not? AMD has'n stated the contrary. They have stated that K8L will be first with DDR2, to transition (it seems, sometime during 2008) to DDR3 (AM3).
Remember, K8L will include memory controller to support both DDR type.
The only lines with the info from motherboards sources are the first two: "Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has recently indicated that its new K8L processor for its next-generation Socket AM3 platform will not be available until 2008, according to sources at Taiwan-based motherboard makers. "...
I think there is a confusion here. They are talking about future AM3 socket for K8L, not the whole K8L part.
Like AMD has said, K8L will be first for AM2 socket (and socket F) with DDR2 (remember: AMD has talking about DDR2 with migration to DDR3, and AM3 isn't DDR2 compatible). So in fact...
Why?
As far as I remember, AMD has been ever very reserve with their technology from a marketing POV, contrary to Intel.
Like I said, If RHT is here already, the precise moment to highlight it is in Conroe launch, after to know Conroe perfomance. Before it, doesn't make sense to me. AMD...
IF this RHT is true and If I would be AMD, I wouldn't announce it, nor would show it, nor would present it, nor would mention it, till Conroe launch. It is the precise moment from an impact marketing POV. It would ruin a lot Conroe launch IMO.
It seems AMD solution doesn´t need compiler at all. It would work with any single thread app existing right now.
Perhaps it is some pacifica virtualization feature
