NVIDIA 8800GTX "Will It Fit?" Case Thread

so the motherboard and the gts video card is the same size?

Yea its something like that.. I thought it was posted in this thread? Its like the same size or a little smaller or something. The GTX is the huge one, that wont fit a lot of smaller cases.

So how long is the 8800gtx? I measured my case and it had around 10.6" of room for the expansion cards.

Im wondering if it will fit my case,

Asys CK-1026-9B

Cant find a side picture :(

Ok..I hope can give all of you guys some info on this ..Look at this picture of the case alot of us are going to buy/like/want..SilverStone TJ09..Here we have 2 SLI 7900 GTX's in this case, with alot of room to spare..(so how long is the 7900 GTX compared to the 8800 GTX..some of you have that card right..)

The length comes out to 8.75 inches, the height at 3.75 inches and the width at 1.25 inches..the same size of the 8800 GTS..!
And the 8800 GTX at 10.5 inchs is over an inch and a half longer !!!

For this case..I'm happy to say No Problem!!,,as you can see,a BOAT load of space to spare :D

whats that huge 120mm fan in the middle of the case for?

The case is so large that the fan at the front pushes the air and once the air reaches the middle of the case it has slowed down to much that itisn't effective anymore so there needs to be a 120mm added in the middle so airflow is normal :D

I am pleased to say that the 8800 GTX does fit in my Antec Sonata (original, not II) case. This is good news for a lot of people since that has been a popular case for a while.

I can't say it isn't a tight fit... there's about 1/4 inch between the end of the card and the drive bay divider, but it does fit and only requires clearing cables out of the way. :D

The motherboard I am using, the Asus P5W DH Deluxe, does happen to have the main IDE connector (the only one that accepts optical drives) EXACTLY at the end of where the card is coming to rest, but luckily the wizards at Asus decided to orient that connector horizontally instead of vertically. So it can be plugged in without interfering with the card.

Your mileage may vary if your mobo is different so be sure to measure and see if you have any essential connectors near the end of where this card would come to rest that would get in the way of the card.

Silverstone needs to make a steel version of the TJ09 to bring the cost down for those that want the case without paying a fortune. :D

el rolio ..Thanks for the link to that review at Hexus..It told me everything that i knew the TJ09 could do..dam I think this is one of the best cases to hit the market in a while..and handsome too..like me  :D

Here's the Lian-Li 65b, no 8800GTX for me unless I lose the hard disk cage :(

Do we have a PSD for the 8800GTS? I want to see if it would fit...

Hi guys, sorry I abandoned my own thread!

Anyways, here's a more accurate "mask" for the 8800gtx based on actual measurements of the card. It might still error on the side of caution, but it is a bit smaller than the original one. It is in "blue" to differentiate it from the earlier one.

The length of the 8800GTX PCB is 270MM, as i stated earlier this thread

This just happens to be EXACTLY 10.6" ....time to get Dremmeling! :D

11 inches from end of bracket to end of pcb.

Thats my Antec Superlanboy I'm gonna get this baby into.

Let us know how it goes. My case has a very similar layout to yours in the hd area, etc. I'm not buying an 8800GTX, but I still want to know if it fits or not. :D

checking in.

my 8800GTX fits perfectly in my Lian Li PC-7B Plus II case, with room to spare.
does not run into the hard drive cage at all, or even with additional hard drives doesnt run into the drives at all.

I can't quite tell in the first picture.

Is that top G80 fitting? Or is it hitting whatever that black part.

I dont understand what your asking. :( The 8800GTX is 11 inches from the end of the bracket (where you usually screw it down to the case) to the end of the card. My superlanboy will have to be modded to fit it. One picture shows that the card would reach past the side load drive cage.

No, no.

I should've been more clear.

I meant the first picture posted in the thread.
Which was the Antec 900

At GeForce Lan 3 the game "World In Conflict" had alpha builds running on 8800GTX's in Antec Ninehundred cases. Though the drives were placed so as not to be in the way of the cards.

I'm glad this thread picked up steam again. It'll be fun to see all the dremmel butchery performed on these cases

Man, I just measured the space in my 6A case and it would be way too tight for comfort. I have sound-dampening foam in the back of my case, and I'd have to rip it out just to give the GTX enough room to even attempt to slide in. TJ-09, you are my only hope :)

Can anyone out there help me with this case ?

Lian Li PC-7B Plus II.
From the looks of it, it could fit, SLI looks like trouble tho.

Hi..well i can tell you..I have one 8800 gtx on my system now..(have to change my sig)..I'm going to set up a sli,but It will be in my silverstone tJ 09(once i get it..still waiting on cash...mb,cpu also!..from what i see the second card will touch the harddrive cage..I'll take a pic in a bit so you guys can see..brb :D

If you look here you'll see that the card sticks out over the top most hard drive(i have two drive in the hard drive bay). From what you see here..I would have to move the hard drive out of the way for the second card to fit!,,But I'm testing a new power supply and the 8800 gtx in my current case..those items are going in to the Silverstone TJ 09..once all my parts get here..cant wait :D
Hope this helps.." 8800 GTX in a Lian Li PC-7B "

and you would know? (yeah it should be, im looking for a link :))

I dont know, but everything I've heard, and judging by the amount of bitching from both media and consumers about how large these cards are, its a damn safe bet to say the new cards will be significantly smaller. :)
