Star Wars III Made on Mac?

Well I guess I must be a dipshi* then. I used Firefox, and had a firewall, and my PC still managed to slow to a freaking crawl just a few months after doing a clean install of Win XP. All I know is that I get a lot more done on my G5 now that I don't have to worry about it getting...

Star Wars III Made on Mac?

Not sure what this "Mac Faithful" you speak of is... I used my own home built PC for 10 years before making the switch (back, actually) to Mac. I switched due to increasing frustration with spyware and the like, and have been pleasantly surprised by OS X. Anyhow, I was merely pointing out the...

Star Wars III Made on Mac?

This pic is from the linked article several posts up. Obviously, all of the scene rendering was done on the Opteron cluster, but I'm sure much of the creative process took place on Macs. The guy in the pic is Dan Gregoire, Pre-Visualization Effects Supervisor at JAK Films, a division of...

The Next OS X code name?

    Play DVD audio discs?

I don't know of any software DVD-Audio decoders or players for OS X. There are several authoring programs that could probably play back DVD-Audio ripped from a DVD-A disc, but nothing at the consumer level. Most DVD-A discs also contain a Dolby Digital (AC-3) track as well, for playback on...

What's the name of that Mac screen saver?

"Flurry" is the name. It comes with OS X, so I would imagine it's not available on Windows. I'm sure there is something similar out there though.

    Which is better for iPod?

iPods charge faster when plugged directly into A/C power i.e. the wall. I would imagine the charging method has no impact on actual charge longevity.

Souped up 15" Powerbook (current gen) vs. 17" Powerbook (last gen)

The extra 2" make a huge difference in usability imo, but they also add a substantial amount to the overall size of the laptop. I have a photographer friend that has the 17" and loves it, but don't expect true portability. If you will always be using it near a power source, I would recommend...

Darn you best buy -- HP ipod anyone?

I own an iPod+HP and a Mac, and I can tell you there is absolutely no difference between the Apple and HP versions. In fact, mine even came formatted as HFS+ out of the box, no need to reformat.
