Its physically impossible for LCD's to burn in. You can get some sort of image percistance, but this is temporarily and will disappear.

Glad I could help. :) I can understand your confusion here. There are "!!!!!!s" defending their toys on forums, some misunderstandings that grow larger and people still think its an honest world we live in. Panel manufacturers are not the most honest, trustworthy source either. link Reviewers...

    Dell 2007WFP Specs NOW POSTED

For graphic design, PVA is probably the worst you can get. The gain you have in the levels of black is equal to the loss you get in color reproduction. But, the worst part is viewing angle. You cannot even move your head a little without change of colors and contrast. If you read a little on Mac...

    NEC LCD20WGX2 vs. Dell 2007FPW

The last thing people usually upgrade is the monitor. I think its sad to build an increadible gaming machine and then buy an average or crappy monitor because its cheap. With gaming many would also want the best colors possible, good response time and excelent viewing angles. It looks like the...

    NEC LCD20WGX2 vs. Dell 2007FPW

That panel looks like a gamers paradise. :D The specs said IPS/PVA and I cannot find an IPS or PVA panel to match the specs. Either the specs are wrong, there are new panels not introduced or the 2007 actually has a MVA panel. There is also the possibility that the 2007 have different versions...

    NEC LCD20WGX2 vs. Dell 2007FPW

Sorry, a bit badly formulated :) The question was if the Dell was going to use the same panel (AS-IPS). It didn't look like it from the specs, but in the "panel technology" section it stated "IPS (In-Plane Switching) / PVA". Would be sweet if it actually turned out to be the new AS-IPS...

2405fpw LCD vs. CRT - 40ms signal delay / latency for LCD users ?!?

You were almost right. The 2405fpw is 16ms BtW (Tr=8/Tf8), 12 ms G2G. What some (samsung *cough* have done is to report only Tr earlier without the Tf and listed their panel as 8ms). The Dells listing is based upon Samsungs reports of the panel, since its a Samsung PVA panel that is used... I...

2405FPW has no support for HD

Yeah! That was cool! :D Considering this and comparison pictures of components 1080 and VGA 1080, don't you think that this would be conclusive evidence of 1080 support if there are no loss of detail and not if there are? :D

2405FPW has no support for HD

Looks like your wish about comparing with alternate sources to the xbox is about to come true! :D link A comparison between PC -> Components -> 2405fpw and PC -> VGA -> 2405fpw both running at 1920x1080 would definitly convince me in either way! If there is no loss of detail between such...

2405FPW has no support for HD

NavyH16, You have some valid points there. Let me take a brainstorming (after I have proven that NFS support 1080i): On this page you will see what the game support (480p, 720p and 1080i). Still, its hard to know if they mean support as in scaling or support as in native. So, here is Kameo...

2405FPW has no support for HD

:p Of what I have seen so far, I don't think it supports HD over components. But, some claim that it does, and even "heavyweights" like Magnetik, so it might be that some revisions support it. I am not sure. But, should it support HD over components, then this is how a HDTV signal at 1080i looks...

2405FPW has no support for HD

Here are some new comparison pictures from Framerateuk at WSGF comparison pictures What has puzzled me most in the whole discussion is the little difference between 720p and 1080i. On some of the games I can understand it, since they are natively 720p and are upscaled to 1080i. It would...

2405FPW has no support for HD

Actually it does and it isn't uncommon... Check here: Tamlins post You will also see why there is such a big difference between 480p and 720p even if it scales everything down to 480p. ;) You got it all backwards. :D Higher resolution provides less jaggies due to more image detail and...

Good idea! :D Edit: Your edit came after my post. :) Regarding jaggies, as you can see, John didn't get the jaggies on VGA and Paddy the Wak on widescreengamingforum got jaggies with the 2405fpw through components, but not on the plasma. I didn't see the jaggies either when looking at COD 2...

Sounds good! Maybe there are different revisions out there? Maybe you can send us a picture with a closeup that proves a picture without jaggies on components? :D You see, Dell does not support HD on the 2405fpw`s components, people who has tried the 2405fpw with Xbox complains about...

2405FPW has no support for HD

John tried that in the "does xbox look good on the 2405fpw" thread. :) It didn't change resolution, only upscaled the picture. People have managed to get the VGA to display 720p without the jaggies, but with less vivid colors (which one at [H] implied might have to do with RGB vs. YUV issues and...

2405FPW has no support for HD

I think I didn't explain it good enough... :( Video goes into the components input, gets downscaled or processed by the pal/ntsc/secam/hd? decoder chip, then the processed signal gets transferred to the genesis scaler. Like shown on the previous link. This is an example (not a good one, but...

No, you are not playing devils advocate here. You managed to get out some good points. :) From Tamlin at WSGF: All the boards uses extra chips for video inputs. Here you can see boards with genesis that also uses external chips for video decoding: link When it comes to the HDtv...

And so does Magnetik. :) It puzzles me a bit that both of you claim that the output of your HD set top box is true HD. I want to believe you and hope that its a matter of revisions or compatibility with the xbox, not incompatibility with HD. I don't think any of us works in the publicity...

2405FPW has no support for HD

Doesn't look like the 2405fpw has support for HD through components unless there are completely different revisions of the 2405fpws out there. Johns latest picture shows also that the VGA resolution is MUCH higher then the components resolution. I don't think anyone can disagree upon that when...

Will XBOX 360 look good on 2405FPW?

Definitly stick with the VGA!!! 480 is 2.5 of the screens total, while 720 is 1.6 and 1080 is 1.1 (1200/480). :) Granted that what Gilly at WSGF said is correct: the 2405 should still be able to get close to the resolution at 720p in components if its supported. Looking at your...

Will XBOX 360 look good on 2405FPW?

John: Here (from Paddy the wak) are pictures of 1080i, 720p and 480p. Looks sharp at 480p, but you can also notice the famous jaggies. At 720p and 1080i the jaggies were gone. He experienced jaggies on his 2405fpw and not on his plasma: link If you look closely, are these the jaggies you...

Will XBOX 360 look good on 2405FPW?

It would have been nice, since they might have some clever tests and equiptment. :D There should be a difference anyway. Even if downconverted, the signal source is still not the same and that should change the output as well. :) You may be right that there can be different revisions of the...

Will XBOX 360 look good on 2405FPW?

Did you read the post about that on WGF? WGF? And the video inputs goes through an external decoder on the video board, while VGA and DVI goes directly through the genesis scaler according to the pdf on WGF. Therefore the video inputs are dependent on which capabilities the decoder have, not...

Will XBOX 360 look good on 2405FPW?

Actually, for it to be HD ready it only needs to follow the definition from when it was marketed: http://tv.about.com/od/glossary/a/letterEFGHI.htm The 2405fpws main compatitor, the L2335 among others were profiling their components as HD compatible and HD ready. The new EUROPEAN logo...

I agree with John here. Its a bit hard to see anything conclusive. They looked good, but I have seen even better pictures of Kameo online that looked much sharper and that doesn't prove lack of HD support either. I saw that one and it puzzled me a bit. Its an old review I have seen earlier...

Will XBOX 360 look good on 2405FPW?

Looks like people all over the world are experiencing problems with jaggies on the 2405fpw´s components. When so many reaches the same conclution: there must be something wrong. 1080i is a 1920x1080 resolution as mentioned and should have less jaggies, not more on a native 1920x1200 display...

Will XBOX 360 look good on 2405FPW?

Something is terrible wrong. You can even see it on your pictures if you look at the barbed wires on the left. Because of bandwidth issues, the components needs the 1920x1080 to be sent interlaced. This means it will be sent as 1920x540 odd lines (1,3,5 etc) and 1920x540 even lines (2,4,6 etc)...
