no.
actually any enhancement from software will just take you further away from what the speakers sound like naturally. Which could make them sound better or worse, usually worse.
nice deal. One of the problems I had with the monitor 5's was the tweeters being super bright for the size of the speaker, does that happen with two of those on the SRS-2's?
haha I used to have a pair of the monitor 5's from polk (same high and mid-bass drivers) and they sounded fantastic I've seen the SRS-2's before and they only look so big because of the huge passive rads on them :P
snipped the pics but LOVE B&W setups. as I have a B&W setup of my own and love it.
although I'd kill for an 800 series setup I'm running an old DM220 setup that kicks but is definitely nothing like that :)
sure those cables will be vista compatible?
on a serious note though he's already got the cable so what you need to do is buy a few male to female RCA extension cables and label them accordingly so you don't mix things up
those plastic shock cases have been common for quite some time, the last four drives I've bought came like that (I buy at a local shop who's prices are comparable to newegg)
some of the time makes sense, hell I pretty much push both pairs of my speakers to their clearity limits daily in terms of volume (which is pretty fucking loud as you can hear it throughout my apartment building) but it's not necessary all the time.
those aren't the largest speakers out there for one thing... and it's not always about blasting them as loud as they can go, sound quality goes a long way.
main listening:
B&W DM220 mains
Yamaha A720 Integrated amp (gettin' on 30 years old almost and still supplies loads of power)
dbx DX-5 CD Player
Technics SL-1700 Phono
Computer Setup:
Advent Legacy mains (these things provide some serious bass for some reason)
Harman/Kardon AVR55 Reciever...
speaking of phase linear, I was very close to buying an old phase linear power amp with these sweet 3" analog VU's on the front, big 'ol 300w amp.... its still available but I can't afford it
it's true, sometimes more dedicated amps can make all the difference. I used to run my B&W DM220's off a harman kardon avr55 reciever (65w RMS in stereo mode) and it just didn't cut it for these speakers... Since I got the AVR55 I've been running an older Yamaha A720 Stereo integrated amp on...
to be honest with you I've got a lot of experience with speakers and I've never seen or heard of dust caps pulling themselves in, no matter how hard the driver was pushed with power.
