Working on building a small, budget friendly, quiet gaming pc and wondered if anyone had any recommendations on a video card that is quiet with it's stock fan. Not looking at aftermarket gpu fan options.
I prefer nvidia to ati due to a history of more reliable drivers but seems nvidia cards...
I always seem to get a low score even with what I think is a good rig.
C2D E6420 - OC to 2.395 GHz (can't seem to get above that without crashing - on stock cooler)
4 GB memory (Vista 32bit only recognizes 2.8 for some reason)
XFX Geforce 8800GT 640Mhz OC
3DMark Score 9844 3DMarks

I have an eVGA nForce 680i LT motherboard with a C2D E6420 processor.
I've never overclocked a cpu before.
How much can I overclock without increasing voltage or having to worry about heat with the stock cooler? Basically I want a safe overclock.
PC: eVGA nForce 680i LT, C2D E6420, 4...
I just bought the XFX 8800 GT Alpha Dog XT (512Mb) from outpost.com and was wondering what people thought of it who already have it.
I probably should have waited but bit the bullet anyway.
I just purchased Home Premium and from what I've read it apparently only has the 32 bit version. I was thinking of buying the 64 bit version from microsoft and just wanted to get feedback if that would be a good choice.
My system
C2D E6420
eVGA nforce 680i LT SLI
2 GB Patriot Memory (soon...
I built a computer with the following specs
Core 2 Duo E6420
eVGA 680i SLI LT motherboard
2 GB Patriot Ram
320 GB 7200RPM Hard Drive
Geforce 7900 GS currently
So, would a 8800 GT help me out or would i be bottlenecked somewhere else?
I just put together a new computer and having issues with the cursor moving to the right after being on the computer for maybe 30 minutes.
I'm not referring to the mouse cursor but when I select something, the selection moves to the right. It's like I'm holding down the right arrow key...
Diagonal is 20in obviously and I think they're 16:10 ratio so I might be able to figure it out but wondered if anyone knew.
Most sites I think only give dimensions of the whole monitor rather than dimensions of the screen.
I dropped my Silverstone SST-50EF and wondered if it's alright. I can't test it til the rest of my computer arrives.
It dropped about 15 inches from top of my case to bottom (case is empty) and landed on the side with the switch and plug. No visible damage and switch still works.
Think...
How do you remove the I/0 shield in the Ultra case? Everything I've seen online says you can just pop them out or use a flat head screwdriver to pry it out.
Well, this thing won't come out and i've tried pretty much everything, even punching it in the back with the screw driver handle...
Will the Silverstone SST-50EF 500w be good enough to run 7900 GS in SLI?
It meets the 500w requirement and it's a quality PSU so it should be fine I would think but has anyone had this combo to verify?
I was planning on getting a DS3 but with all these horror stories, I was wondering if there's a better option? I don't plan on overclocking much and probably not going to use SLI. I just want a stable motherboard for under $150
I'm planning on getting a C2D 6420 when they come out later this...
I'm building a computer with only one GTS card (not sure whether it will be 320 or 640). A good 500-600 watt PSU should be good enough currently and hopefully enough if i decide to upgrade later on to a better single GPU.
I'm also wanting to stick with PSUs that are rated at least 80%...
I know I have a similar thread below but I've narrowed it down to these I think and buy.com's deal on the 206BW ends tomorrow at midnight so I wanted to see if I should jump on it.
Samsung 206BW - Price: $209 (after rebate) (buy.com)
Resolution: WSXGA
Response Time: 2ms
Contrast 800:1...
I'm looking for a 20 or 22in widescreen monitor for gaming and willing to spend between $200-300 (hopefully closer to $200). I want a WSXGA (1680x1050) native resolution, at least 700:1 contrast ratio and a good response time.
My desk limits size of monitor so no 24 inch or bigger...
I don't plan to overclock much if at all and wondered if the following setup would be fine as far as heat
Ultra Mid-Tower Case
1 upper rear 120 mm fan
1 lower front 80 mm fan
Side vent with CPU funnel thing
Components: DS3, C2D cpu, 2 GB memory, likely 8800 GTS, 1 HD, 1 optical drive
Since my...
I want to get a LCD monitor for gaming but don't want to spend over $250
I'm looking for 19 inch monitors. Possibly bigger but 19 is enough for me.
I'm thinking of getting the NEC 90GX2 for $210 (after shipping) but unsure whether or not that would be the right choice.
I'm looking for a good, low priced motherboard. I don't need SLI and I'm not going to overclock much, if any.
I'm looking for something that is...
- Intel Compatible (Core 2 Duo)
(ability to upgrade CPU to quad core later would be a bonus).
- LGA 775 Socket
- Compatible with DDR2 800
-...
What is the best budget 19in LCD monitor for gaming?
I'd prefer standard unless there is just a killer 19in widescreen that one can't pass up.
I want to try to stay around $200.
