K anymore suggestions or comments. I know people here know a lot about Displays.
Just hope more ppl can pitch in.
I'd like to know everyone's opinion.
Thanks in advance
Hi,
I need to upgrade from my Samsung 2253LW monitor.
Its a 21.6 inch and fair bit small on my table.
Main uses for my monitor are
1) Gaming (RTS (Compnay of heroes etc.and the occasional FPS such as left for dead, bioshock etc.)
2) Watching movies, tv shows that I download.
3)...
Hi,
my friend just bought this monitor. And is complaining of flickering ( alot of it)
He has installed the included cd software.
Video drivers are the latest.
OS is Win 7 64-bit (RTM)
And is using the the HDMi (monitor) to dvi cable (Video card).
Cables were switched to a dvi to vga one...
Yeh the UD3P is $17 more expensive than the UD3R for me .
But from what I can tell I'm going with either of these two. Depends on how much I can save on the cpu.
For the cpu I am able to get my hands on an OEM new q9550 C1 stepping for abt $US250 or $CDN305.
I can also get a retail brand new...
Hey everyone.
Been out of the loop for a bit.
I'm upgrading my rig (see sig.). Just changing the cpu and motherboard and keeping everything else the way it is.
Thing is I don't want to spend more than $350 CDN or $US310 in total on the upgrade.
Motherboard options are:
Gigabyte P45...
Yeh I've learnt that each generation of chipset is designed to best match the cpu's that were launched with it. The 965 was never really meant to be used with a quad core. I mean compatible and overclockable are 2 very different terms as I have found out.
Vcore is being set in the BIOS and...
The RAM is matching and from the same manufacturer.
Its the one in my signature.
Timing are the exact same also for all 4 sticks.
There is no difference between the sticks except for the fact that I bought 1 pair a month after the first one.
oh boy. Alright gonna start with each stick in a bit.
Why the other memory though?
UPDATE:
Ok so I've starting testing my RAM at stock speeds.
So far all 4 sticks are stable at stock 266*9 with 2.1 volts.
Next I'll test in Dual channel config. at stock
If alls good I will...
My ambient temps at 21C so there's no way I would be in the teens unless you're referring to anything other than air. I'm fine with the temp as long as it doesn't exceed 60C under P95 with max heat stress.
You're right with the q6600 under stock settings (everything set to default) IBT...
Yeh thats right. I can totally see your point of view.
Part of me actually wants to return the q6600 and save on the $225 I paid for it.
The mobo is gonna set me back another $100 bucks.
Especially since my e6300 was at 3.0 ghz before the change.
Dunno kinda confused.
Been running at...
Ok looking at my buying options (im in Canada)
which of the two would you guys recommend:
P45
P35
Another reason why I don't really want to upgrade the mobo is that I will have to reinstall my Windows and since I dual boot it's gonna be a pain in the as* doing so.
The cooling on the NB is sufficient I believe.
I have this for the NB cooler. And its only warm to touch.
I believe I only have one option on the board and that is the FSB term. voltage. there is no other NB related option.
I dont have the last 3 options like this BIOS screenshot has:
Yeh this motherboard use to hit 445 FSB on a E6300.
Now it wont even run a q6600 stable at 1.40 at 333 FSB.
I've tried most things.
The tests aren't helping either. Prime 95 is giving errors @ 333 but not stock.
and IBT wont even pass on stock settings.
Memtest86 running for 8 hours...
I've tried upwards of 1.42 volts and the system is still not stable at 333*9
Prime 95 reboots the system or it just hangs.
temps are good. Nothing to worry abt.
I ran memtest86 for 8 hours @ 333*9 with No errors.
Then I load up Prime 95 and the system reboots.(this is at 1.40 volts)...
thanks. I'll try memtest. I'm at work now but will get back to you guys on that.
One more thing (dunno if it helps) but when the system becomes unstable I sometimes get a blue screen or the system just reboots or I get a windows .exe error reporting box. Bottomline the errors seem random not...
What voltages are you running?
I plan on keeping this mobo if most ppl are gettting 3ghz on average with the q6600.
Also can someone explain to me why IBT is giving errors on default settings?
thanks for the info. Yeh I was wondering why it can't touch 333 stable too.
Its taking 1.42 volts easy but I don't want to stress the motherboard too much.
Anyone know a good o'clocking motherboard thats cheap--max $85 bucks.
A VID of 1.325 isn't that stellar on the cpu's side though.
Ok here are some answers to your questions:
I have a Tuniq Tower 120 and I think temps are not a problem. With stress nothing has reached beyond 55C yet. So yeh if anything its the volts I need to worry abt.
So first things first.
Do I need to reseat the CPU?
Next this IBT thing is...
Ok I need to ask a question:
Should I reseat th ecpu or are these temps fine?
2nd question:
I've just started overclocking and at 333 FSB the cpu Volt is 1.42 volts
Its not stable at 1.400 volts.
And this is with a 9X multiplier.(333X9=3GHZ right now)
I don't want to use more than...
Wasn't sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes.
Just installed a q6600 and have weird temps.
Here a link to my other thread.
Please reply if you can.
Any help is appreciated.

I'm also getting this error from Real temp that the sensor is getting stuck
Core 0 mov'ment = 6
Core 1 = 5
Core 2 = 4
Core 3 = 4
Is this normal?
Intel's TAT is giving 40 on Core 0 and 37 on core 1
:confused::mad:
Thanks in advance to all those who reply.
Hi everyone.
Here's a screen shot of my temps.
All 3 programs are giving a different reading
Dunno which one to believe.
Non-overclocked, with speedstep and c1e disabled.
I just want to know if I've seated the heatsink properly.
Setup is the one in the signature minus the...
The games come with all the manuals, maps and covers etc.
Disc is scratch less.
Asking $35 each including shipping to anywhere in N.America
Send a PM if interested
good advice man.
To the OP:
There's no point buying Core i7 the day it comes out. The driver, motherboards need atleast a month or 2 to get stable. As a rule I usually wait at least 3months after a chipset is launched just to understand which board is the most popular after reading...
Yes it is. Most models on the market are the same length however there are a couple of 8800Gt's that are shorter. Below is an example:

Is the average overclock for the Q6700 higher than the q6600?
Also correct me if I'm wrong but all q6700's are G0 stepping?
Anyone else debating as to get a q6700 or a 9450?
If I run Company of heroes and folding @ home at the same time then the usage touches 95%.
I can't run a Norton scan and do the above 2 without seriously comprised performance. Is Nehalem a really big boost? I mean realistically 6 months after the product has launched do you think $1300...
So as far as I can tell from what you guys have said :
q6600 over the 9450 if its is overclocked (~3.5 Ghz)
OR
wait till the Nehalem stuff with eagle lake comes out (if eagle lake is the new socket that is)
Hmmmm.....
will the quad run a lot hotter than the E6300 right now?
Hi there,
just wanted to know if you guys think I should upgrade my Cpu. My system spec. are in the signature.
Usage:
-Folding @ home (24hrs)
-Gaming ( company of Heroes and Crysis)
-Browsing the internet/movies general everyday stuff
-Little Photoshop usage every now and then...
Make sure that 8800GT is a 512mb version not the 256mb cos there is a lot of difference between the two. You can actually squeeze in the 3870 ATi between the two when it comes to performance.
