Should I update my BIOS?
I have a Asus P6X58D-E and the BIOS version is 0108 from 3/23/10. Asus gives warnings that you could mess everything up and you shouldn't do it unless you have issues. I have no issues, but plan to do some overclocking.
I have a Asus P5B Deluxe plugged into a surge strip. Regularly when after I shut down from Windows, I turn off the surge strip (my monitor is also connected to it). When starting, I turn on the surge strip, start up and everything is fine.
However, when overclocking it with a Intel E6400...
I have a P5B Deluxe and E6400 and have overclocked up to 3.2GHz (FSB400) with no problem, or so I thought. When I set the FSB to 375 and above I get a wierd bootup. The system will begin to start, then imediately stop, then one second later will start again and continue on booting up normally...
Anyone use the Asus AI Booster utility for overclocking?
It's part of the Ai Suite on the CD, and it says you can use it to make overclocking settings from this Windows program instead of from the BIOS.
Also, has anyone tried the Ai Gear, Ai Nap, and Ai N.O.S. programs just for fun?
I'm building a new system with the Corsair 520w power supply and Asus P5B-Deluxe motherboard and I don't know whether to use the 4-pin or 8-pin power connector. Both manuals say use one or the other, but don't say which is preferable.
Which do I use and what's the difference?
I'm thinking of getting the Asus P5B-Deluxe and a Leadtek 8800GTS 640MB video card. Are there connectors and such that will be blocked, and can't be used, on this motherboard, because of the these big 8800 series cards?
Can the Corsair PS control case fan speeds like my Antec PS does? When temps are low--case fan speeds are low, when temps increase--case fans speed up. If so, is there more than one connector?
I have a Asus P4PE and everything seemed fine until I was doing some electrical work in the house and flipped some circuit breakers off and on. I forgot my computer was on at the time and I think it may have been affected.
Now, when I boot the computer I get a hardware error that says to...
How do I add a third IDE hard drive to my system? Do I need a cable with three connectors? What do I set the hard drive jumper to?
My secondary cable has both a CD and DVD connected to it, so that's not available either.
Does anyone know of a "currently available" motherboard that uses a socket A AMD cpu, and has onboard video and accepts old 168 pin memory?
This is for a friend where "cheap" is the most important consideration. His old board, a ECS K7SEM is dead and I can't locate a new one.
