While this diagram is likely inconclusive, it does show Apple is more often the target than the attacker. From Apple's perspective, I see 5 outgoing "attacks" and 9 incoming "attacks".
I was lucky enough to get one of the 1.112V cards, so I bump it up to 1.118V and run at 1125/1675, 24/7. The core was stable at 1.112V in games, but not on OCCT, but the small bump to 1.118V solved that. I'm comfortable there, since that's still quite a ways below 1.175V that most cards seem...
I've been playing for a few weeks now. I was once a hardcore T2 player and Ascend is shaping up to be pretty decent, unlike that bastard that was Vengeance. Not sure how I feel about the freemium model and locked loadouts, but the gameplay's been pretty addicting so far, although it's far from...
I'm glad you brought that up - I never really thought about it that way. For those of us "mundane" overclockers using air or (normalish) water cooling, I can't imagine this would be of any use, however.
Um. Excuse me? Unless I'm missing something, how would they know if the processor failed due to overclocking and not to, say, an improperly mounted HSF or power surge?
While there is a point to be made about the inefficiency of these boxes, the article does point out that these numbers are somewhat exaggerated:
They are displaying the sum of both a HD STB and a HD DVR together. While they numbers are still quite high, they certainly aren't refrigerator-level.
Well, at least on 7, it's "Windows Update" that looks for updates for "Windows and other Microsoft products" (AKA Microsoft Update on XP).
That make sense though. It's most likely shown up only for those of us who've allowed it to check for additional updates.

Sorry to grammar nazi out, but I see this all the time on [H]... For the love of god, it's "discrete," when referring to something that is distinct.

I was going to say the same myself. However, AMD or NVIDIA isn't much better. At least ATI (AMD Graphics, whatever) has had some sort of consistency for a few generations.
It makes sense that the 8.66 RC6 and 9.10 drivers performed about the same - the D3D driver is identical in version (8.14.10.0700). The only version change was with the OpenGL driver (6.14.10.9016 vs 6.14.10.9026).
With AMC breaking the $20/ticket mark with 3D Shrek, this seems like a steal. :p
In all seriousness, it's about $12/ticket here and I never go to a movie alone, so $25 would be right in-line with the theater, except I'd be able to save on snacks, increased comfort, and have readily-available...
