At Mwave:Also, I don't see any deals for the westinghouse around $900 or <. So I will take the sharp at $1,179.29, which is cheaper than the westinghouse (currently)
At Mwave:
Westy: $989.00
Shipping: $29.07
Total: $1,018.07
Even at the egg it's $1,059.98 shipped. You clearly didn't even try to shop around if you think the Sharp is cheaper.
Meh, but that's not the point of my post.Mleh, depends on where you look, but the westy is but ugly next to the sharp .
Those looking for Sharp 1080p displays, should also check out the Sharp LC 37D6U and the 32D6U, they are basically identical to the GP series except they do not have "Vyper Drive" and you may or may not find better bargains on these models since they will be carried at most retailers as display models.
Just a heads up -- according to Sharp's website the D6U series only features Wide XGA resolution (1366x768) which, needless to say, isn't 1080p. Most people reading this are probably more interested in 1920x1080.
This is a 16:9 display, not 16:10.If you play PC games, does 1080p on this LCD have black bars on the top or bottom (16:9 versus 16:10)? Or does the image get stretched from 16:9 to 16:10?

btw rustman the 32" is the perfect compromise, whether you work or play on your computer.
Thanks for your feedback Ferris. It's much appreciated. Can't speak for the 32, but I just returned a 47" Westinghouse 1080 to get a 46" Sharp 1080, and am now returning the Sharp for the Westinghouse.
The Sharp does have better blacks, but IMO that is the only thing it had going for it. I found the HD and SD images to be "nosiy" if not a little blocky and found the Westinghouse to handle PC use far better. The Westinghouse also just looked better to me, again minus darker blacks of the Sharp. Again this is the 46" Sharp, the 32 is probably better suited. That being said I personally do not thing the Sharp is worth the premium. Having owned one of their top end sets I still prefer the Westinghouse. Now I just have to wait for a new Westinghouse 47 that should arrive on Wed.
Just my opinion.
Hi Rustman
I sit about 2 feet from the monitor and it's perfect. I do a lot of work in Maya, Sony Vegas, After Effects, and Photoshop and I never have to move my head for editing work, which can be very tiresome if the screen is any larger. I run the monitor at 720p and the font size is also perfect for reading without eye strain whatsoever...text is crisp and sharp without being overly so.
No problem Science...just having a couple of laughs with the boys....nothing to see here folks, move along!

GREAT! i've been looking for someone like you, Derfman. Do you see any noticable lag while using the 360 on the D62? Is it worth paying extra for the Vyper Drive model? Also, are you using a DVI to HDMI cable for PC use? If the 360 runs smoothly on this set, I'm definitely gonna buy it. Thanks
Sorry for all the questions, but this is probably this will probably be the dealbreaker or dealmaker for me. Does it support 1080p over components? Some places say only 1080i over components while others make no mention of the supported resolutions at all. Again, thanks for all of your help and feedback.

yea it does. here is a quote from the user manual
To enjoy the AQUOS 1080p display capability, connect your external equipment using a component cable and set the equipment to 1080p output.
See page 14 for connecting a DVD player or a Digital TV STB to the HDMI terminal."
Can't wait. A question, where're you guys buying your tv units from and what're some of the prices you guys are seeing?
I've only found a couple online stores that sell this model in particular.
Would I be able to find this at let's say a nearby Circuit City?
Thanks for the lighting reply Fred. Hmmm...I gotta jump on this deal by Mar. 26 as the sale will end soon. I gotta check out my local CC. My local Sears doesn't seem to have much of an electronics anymore (the last I saw). California has a 8.25% tax.
I meant the D62U series, not the D6U series. My apologies. So the 32D62U and the 37D62U. As pointed out in other threads, the D62U panels are identical except for the lack of DVI-I and Vyper drive.
Thanks for your feedback Ferris. It's much appreciated.
Exactly, what Sharp model did you have?
I have just purchased the non-gamer version of this panel. It has the same specs minus the Vyper Drive... First off, the brightness on this thing stock is enough to sing your eyes out of their sockets! Besides that, the blacks are some of the nicest I have seen on an LCD panel, played a little Star Wars Battlefront 2 on my PC, and some Armored Core 4 and NFS Carbon on my 360... Needless to say, motion blur is barely existent in this panel... 32 Inches seems to be the sweet spot, text is really sharp! Up close far away doesn't matter, there isn't an issue with pixel pitch for my eyes (even with my glasses on)...
I will supply some pictures once I get home from work in the morning. Keep in mind this is the same panel but without the Viper Drive. Great... Fire alarm is going off, I work in the 30th St. Station in Philly, this is something I don't want to ignore... I wish I could say more but I must go..

I'm assuming your using a HDMI to DVI cable right?
