You havn't by chance tried to Overclock yet have you? wink wink lol

Not a chance in hell. This thing gets upto 80*C under heavy load.

Ok I ran shadermark, and it made a text file, what did you guys want to know about shadermark?

Thats not a bad cpu. What is she running at ? OC the crap out of her!

I've tried overclocking it, but even going 5MHz up on the FSB will cause it not to boot. I think its the PC3200 RAM I have.

sorry, i know this is OT.. but can't you put it on a divider? a64s don't mind dividers.. you could keep your pc3200 @ stock that way.

interesting thread by the way.. and that's a BIG card.

I'll try tomorrow. I'm probably going to end up getting a Kentsfield or Conroe anyways.

Ok You have the baddest of bad video card!!!! You need to get that cpu rocking. :D

You don't even know man. When I went to the store and saw it sitting on the shelf I nearly soiled my pants.

mike686 seriously derserves an award for hanging with this thread so long and responding to a gazillion requests for different types of benchies.

Nice effort man, we all appreciate it. Congrats on getting such a sweet card so early. I can't wait to get my hands on one too.

Fully seconded!

People spend big bucks on computer parts and seem to forget that high quailty RAM is the key!

No doubt! Thanks for spending so much time...but get the hell outta here and GAME! We are wrong to come between you and you're precious and we're sorry!

So 80C, huh...I may hold off on this for a little while. After all it's only Oblivion that yearns for more. When you get back from your gamings..how's IQ? Any shimmering, crappy etc? And what was the name of the store you almost soiled yourself in?

Tell you all what. I'm going to China Town in downtown Toronto tomorrow. LOTS of shady electronics down there :p

If I see a GTS on sale, imma buy it and do the same thing :D

This one's for you sillyeagle:

FEAR, 1600x1200, 4xAA, 16xAF, all settings maxed except soft shadows.

fearnoss1.jpg

Not much different than having soft shadows on, is it? :p

speechless.

Also, the drivers that they ship this card with are abolutely, like my RAM :p, TERRIBLE. You change a few settings and the card either goes into artifact mode or slows down to 2 fps, which can only be fixed by reinstalling the drivers.

I think it should be noted that he is using leaked drivers which were never intended for public use. Certain things may not be reflective of review drivers and actual shipping drivers. ((Such as the D3D AF Tester))

Okay, at 1600x1200 in Oblivion with all the sliders and options maxed, and HDR (no AA) it gets on average:

30 FPS at Oblivion gate

42 FPS in Foilage area

Pretty damn good if I do say so myself.

LOL no wonder they suck like shit! No worries though, this card has CRAZY potential.

Sorry, forgot this part: N(ormal) = 4Z/S; Q(ality) = 8Z/S... So, 16xN takes 4 Z/s samples (like 4xMSAA) but does 16xAA on the edges, while 16x8 takes 8 z/s samples.

Yeah, I still dont understand.. 4 Z/s samples (MSAA) but 16x on the edges?? Do you mean 2x2 SSAA, instead of MSAA (which is done with old 8xS AA or current 8x AA found in Rivatuner)?

By the way, thanks for sharing the 8800!!! You roxor, Mike686!

Heh, after looking at the pics again on the 2nd page. How come the picture of the card on the box doesn't match the one that is real? :p

Haha yeah, wth?

I don't know what's up with that. Maybe they realized taking off the sticker gives you a 5 fps gain?

Nice review/ work Mike. Lucky bastard.... :p Guess I have to make a trip out to microcenter and see if they are carrying yet.

not sure if I am going to be able to make this thing fit in my Antec P-180B case. That is a long ass board. I might have to remove upper HDD cage to give it enough room to fit. Nice thing is, I will be able to mount a 120MM fan blowing directly over the card.

Yea nice job. Even though you are cpu limited in most of the games. Nice fps in fear and sm2/sm3 score in 3dm

I didn't expect that single core cpu can so bottleneck GTX in 3DMarks. With dual core cpus we should see much higher results in SM2.0, SM3.0/HDR tests...

well it did score more than average 7950gx2 and close to 7900gtx sli.. pretty impressive.

Yeh, but PS2.0 result is very low comparing to PS3.0/HDR. I've done some counts what result we must get with various cpus, and 64 4000+ disproved my theory. It seems that this crappy cpu hits fps in graphics tests...
Everything would be clear if mike686 tested 3DMark06 again, but with a bit overclcoked cpu,,,

pretty impressive considering the cpu!

now how about playing some games and let us know how the image quality is compared to your previous card?

So wierd about the 3DMark stuff.

My single 7900GT did 11,2XX in '05 and 6,7XX in '06 . . .

I don't get it.

YOUR scores sound way too high for that type of card. Wonder if your scores were at default settings, my 7900GT with a dual core X2 at 2.6ghz and 2gb ram never broke 9400....

10 pages already whew... didnt see it asked, how much did you pay? MsRp?

I only see 5 pages but a good question. Since he bought it at a brick and mortar store I would assume MSRP. Now to figure out what that is....

Sorry to say this but your 8800GTX is wasted due to being severly CPU limited. I just went from a x2 3800@ 2 Ghz to C2d @ 3.5 Ghz and my 7950 GX2 was being choked.

I bet it would not be if you played at say, 1680x1050 with all the eye candy on including 4xaa.....

dnottis said:
AMD X2 3800 @ 3.0
Far Cry 92.9 fps (HC bench)
FEAR min fps 42 / avg 94
Aquamark 3 116,000
Just Cause 75fps (fraps)

C2D E6300 P5B-E @ 3.2 Ghz
Far Cry 133 fps (HC bench)
FEAR min fps 55 / avg 111
Aquamark 163,000
Just Cause 93 fps (fraps)

Maxed 1280x1024 4x/16x trans SSAA / GC AA both enabled.

Exactly, you were cpu limited because of the low resolution you tested at. At 1600x1200 or better, you would not have that issue.....

I can damn near guarantee you that any overclocked X2's or C2D's are not going to have any trouble pushing the G80 to great results, provided a high res is used.
