Thanks for the responses folks. That's interesting, a lot of these ebay posts specifically tell you that you cannot use a DP->DVI-D converter to run that display, so I'm a bit perplexed that I'm not hearing any of that here. Why would they want to lose customers if in fact most can run those...
Hey folks,
sorry for the really dumb question, but I haven't quite been able to figure this one out. I have a 2011 MBP and I'd like to know if it's at all possible for me to connect an external monitor such as this one to it and have it operate as intended.
It's my understanding that these...
Hello folks,
wanted to run this one by you, see if you can perhaps explain it to me.
My new HD7850 claims that with DP1.2 compatible monitors it can support up to 6 different monitors. How does that work? It has 1x DVI, 1x HDMI and 2x MiniDP ports. Are the DPs splittable?
Thanks!
Folks,
what are your best recommendations for playing through Skyrim on master difficulty? I've been having quite a bit of trouble with my melee orc dual-wielder due to monsters such as dragons and ice wraiths basically two-shotting me. I could boost my smithing, pickpocketing and enchanting...
Hello folks,
I'm looking for a small form factor case that's very good at keeping the internals cool. As someone who used Shuttle cases for years, I've never been very impressed with their performance. The CPU runs hot and the GPU even hotter.
I'm looking for a case that's smaller than...
How does one navigate the world of various UL80 models? It seems like there's a gazillion of them out there. Which one is "the best"(tm)?
Also, why 1366 x 768? Is it pointless to try to find a 14" with higher resolution?
I realize that portable, sleek, cheap is something that can never be said in one sentence when talking about laptops, but I'm hoping you guys might have actually run into one before and would love to share that knowledge with me.
I basically need a light and portable notebook with pleasant...
I'm looking for an extremely portable / ultra thin sleek looking laptop that I could use for generic web 2.0 development on the go. It doesn't seem like they exist for 15" (or larger) screens though, and I can't see myself coding on anything smaller.
What are my options? Not particularly...
For some reason the imperator feels like is much sensitive to mouse lift than my G9 or Deathadder ever were. I'm not particularly hot about this as I'm a very low sensitivity user and so lifting the mouse is an absolutely core part of the process.
I wonder if this will pass as I get used to...
I did in fact really like the looks of the G73, the various models out there were quite confusing though, so thanks for shedding some light on that matter.
I'm goign to look into the G53, I usually favor smaller resolutions simply because they are a lot faster than the huge widescreen ones that...
I've been out of the gaming laptop purchasing business for a long time and don't really have a good understanding of what models are out there these days, but I've been looking for a laptop that could be used to play at SC2 LAN parties.
It should have strong performance of course, as low FPS...
I know we have quite a few serious mouse experts on this board and I was hoping they could share some of their experience for my search for the ultimate mouse.
I'm a very low sensitivity palm gripper (from back in the CS days where it was THE way to play), and since m G9's side buttons...
Hello folks,
I had a quick question for you regarding this issue I've been having with my network. I recently turned on Remote Desktop on one of my home machines in order to be able to remove into it from a laptop wirelessly connected (100% connection quality) to the same network. The target...
I updated the pictures, they should be visible now.
I'm sorry if I wasn't clear, when I said I was getting 66C max temperature, I meant that was as high as the temps would go when under stress with OCCT or prime95, so I would say that's a pretty decent temp for 3600mhz.
I finally decided to overclock my 2.6ghz i5 to a more interesting clock. I'm completely new at the whole overclocking business so I was hoping you seasoned tweakers might give me a few pointers. My harware is:
- 2x G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Dual Channel
-...
So,
I'm planning to get a i7-920 and OC it pretty hard if I can, and so I need a decent motherboard to stick it onto. The options are either the ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 which is basically $300 and the ASRock X58 which is half the price, and supposedly gets the job done just as well.
Why would...
The 920 sounds interesting, I read that you can very easily OC it to about 4.0 ghz with only a simple aftermarket air cooler.
Besides the motherboard, what else in my setup would have to change if I wanted to switch over to the 920?
I think you misread what I wrote. Bad Company 2 (despite what they say) is essentially a console port, not optimized for PC like for example Crysis was.
In its current state the bottleneck is the processor as it needs to compute the physics of 30+ players blowing things up on the screen at the...
Hi.
I was thinking of upgrading my currently 2yo PC in light of Bad Company 2 coming out soon. It works fine right now, but I like to have my games run at max settings at constant 60fps, and with a 1920x1200 that's not always easy. One thing to keep in mind is that currently the game uses...
Question for the IT minded among you. I have several machines at home, all of them with some particular use to me. I want to be able to have my own domain at home so that I can exactly set up accounts and permissions for everybody.
Basically I want to be able to share confidential...
That would be ideal, but as I mentioned, I have data on there that I don't want to share with whoever is going to be verifying that the drive is no more functional :)
I made sure that IDE legacy mode or whatever other maximum compatibility options are all on in the BIOS, and I also tried v4.0 of HDDErase to absolutely no avail. HDDErase is perfectly capable of seeing my normal spinny hard drives on the system, but it will not identify the SSD.
Also the sad...
Hi again. I tried to upgrade to the latest firmware as you folks suggested, but the software says that the drive is already up to date.
At this point I went ahead and tried to nuke the drive with HDDErase 3.3 as suggested in this article...
I do, I'll plug it into my home machine tonight to give it another try.
What makes me believe that this is drive death is that it worked fine at first, and died all of a sudden. I do agree though that it's worth a try.
Hi,
I received my brand new 80GB Intel X25-M yesterday and I plugged it into my box today for the first time. As expected there were no special install steps required: I plugged it in, turned on the pc, was warned by the bios that a new hd was added, then windows turned on and from Computer...
So how exactly do you sign up for a 2 year plan with AT&T if you get these phone from anybody but AT&T? Is there an online form they send you to when you're purchasing it?
I wasn't one of the folks who pre-ordered the phone last week, and I'm not planning to be camping in front of a mac store anytime soon. How do I get hold of a 3GS this weekend/next week then?
I read that they might be out of stock for at least a couple of weeks.
In any case, I "borrowed" a 4850 from Fry's this week to double-check that indeed this problem was being caused by a broken graphics card and not by something else, such as drivers. As predicted, the 4850 has absolutely none of the issues I've been experiencing with the older 4870, no artifacts...
