Funny, I just replaced it with an older manufactured Benq DVD and it works fine....vista detected and installed drivers.... Looks like this NEC dvd player is no longer supported....

The drive does not see any disks at all. The drive worked fine to install vista 64, so yes the drive works. I believe it has been mentioned on several forums about this problem, and yes it is believed to be a vista driver problem. It may be that vista doesn't support this device anymore....and...

Cutting to the chase...I have a NEC ND-3520A DVD reader/burner. The problem is that vista doesn't recognize any dvd movies I put into it! I believe this is a driver problem, as I've flashed to the newest firmware and problem persists. But NEC doesn't have drivers, its based on windows...
