Actually, they are just showing the dimensions that are being fabricated....I have seen in several presentations a movie that shows a bug on a gear that is then turned very fast and the bug is thrown off...It was related to MEMs
Funny, I just replaced it with an older manufactured Benq DVD and it works fine....vista detected and installed drivers....
Looks like this NEC dvd player is no longer supported....
The drive does not see any disks at all.
The drive worked fine to install vista 64, so yes the drive works.
I believe it has been mentioned on several forums about this problem, and yes it is believed to be a vista driver problem.
It may be that vista doesn't support this device anymore....and...
Cutting to the chase...I have a NEC ND-3520A DVD reader/burner. The problem is that vista doesn't recognize any dvd movies I put into it!
I believe this is a driver problem, as I've flashed to the newest firmware and problem persists. But NEC doesn't have drivers, its based on windows...
Well thanks for posting link for new asusdoc. I also got this bad boy because it had the non-reference cooler. I'll post some temps and OCing data in a couple of days.
**EDIT**
Can you guys report what your voltage is? and what clocks/temps you have....Thanks
Hey Thanks for posting a response....I've just started to OC and am currently getting some baseline temps for my setup. Memory should be quick to follow with the my ASUS 8800GT to follow. I'll post some info for OCing my Q6600 GO (with arctic pro air cooling) to 3 - 3.2 ghz on vista 64 with 2gb...
I also have the gigabyte DS3L and I was wondering where you can change the memory timings? Also, it would be sweet is people post pics of there bias settings for overclocking....thanks
I could only see myself paying more if the bandwidth increased. Meaning: I DL something and normally I would max out at say 500kb/s...but if they implemented this I would want them to give me unlimited say +1mb/s DL before they can reasonably charge me for what I'm using.
I use comcast and...
Why do you people think I use P2P? I am much more advanced than that crap....get a clue OR actually DON'T...
Jack Sparrow: Well, then, I confess, it is my intention to commandeer one of these ships, pick up a crew in Tortuga, raid, pillage, plunder and otherwise pilfer my weasely black guts out.
I'll make another interesting comment to stir the debate.
Has anyone thought that maybe its your right to choose to pirate software? Sure, this might sound rather radical but maybe some people actually believe that pirating software is perfectly OK. After all, there is dedicated groups to the...
I don't know if this has been mentioned but:
Good games will make more money than crappy games.
Simply because no one wants to buy crap for $50 and get screwed. people pirate because they want to experience the game play and then buy. If they like the game they will buy it, if it sucks they...
I think everyone misses the point that vista has superfetch and that it manages memory better. For gaming as it mentioned time and time again that XP is slightly better but not noticeable.
Future proofing is understanding that all new games to be released will be developed using DX10 and...
I was under the impression that RAM that is normally quoted as working at 4-4-4-12 (cas 4) would overclock better than RAM at normal 5-5-5-15 (cas 5). This is because 444-12 could easily handle 555-15 (looser timings) at higher Mhz. Is there any real truth to the CAS 4 vs CAS 5 being better than...
To the early posts:
Lawyers are not free....And suing a large corporation like Apple, who has lots of $$$ and therefore lots of lawyers, is rather pointless because they will use patents as a means of protection....not to mention the legalities/responsibilities probably written on the back of...
Thanks for input on SLI....
As for the whole cheap PCIE thing....who cares...you only buy new rig for gaming! Case and point, my P4 2.8ghz w/ 6600GT AGP is perfect for everyday computing and even most (???) gaming (CS:S, UT2004, poker).
Otherwise you will have to buy a new rig, and I...
Simply put: this game needs an expansion pack.
I firmly believe they released this game too early (even though it was postponed). You can really tell what has been polished and what hasn't, and there is a lot of things left unpolished or totally left out. It's also too bad because I thought...
Not bad of an upgrade...but I have an AGP system and I still firmly believe it can hold its own! However AGP isn't supported anymore so I'm F***ed for gaming...
I've never been into high end gaming but when I make a new build I look towards the future expandability aimed towards gaming. I put...
I too am looking to make a new build....Budget $1000+100(at most)
Case:
Rosewill R5717-P SL ($30) (comes with 1x120mm fan (back)
120mm Case fans (2@ $3.50) additionally needed (front + side)
CPU: $195
Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Conroe 2.66GHz LGA 775 Processor
Can OC easily to...
I think mom and pop stores have stayed afloat by doing computer repairs. Let's face it, most people don't have the time or any real experience with fixing a computer. Personally, I will probably never have to use their services but I do see these types of stores as the mechanic shops of the PC...
not to get off topic...but...vlad (or anyone)...what would be your suggestions for 8800gt gpu cooler? I have not seen any "specified" for 8800gt.
Maybe this should be a new topic for discussion? or is there a thread already?
Thanks for posting answers....I'll have to look into these solutions?
To simply add an interesting review I came across on some of the newer 8800GT cards. In particular look at the conclusions(pg12) about the Palit card...the cooling scheme seems to be catching on with gigabyte and who knows who else....which points to better designed cards:D and possibly better...
sorry vlad...but read about Palit as it's very comparable in my opinion to the newer gigabyte...also think of how the cooler card could potentially have better OCing (or not)
I see your point of interest....I am a strong proponent of gigabyte...and this article seems to indicate that OCing is...
Oh sheit I found it!!!!!!!!
http://www.hardwarezone.com/articles/view.php?id=2428&cid=3&pg=11
Now everyone can point out any misrepresented info I said.....LOL...plenty of info to shove in my stupid face :(..but I can edit my mistakes HAHAHA
However this is for the crappier cooled (aka...
I spent 2 hours trying to find...damn I suck. But seriously they reviewed asus top, palit, and gigabyte, msi,....
really sorry I can't find. I believe I found it on google searching for either gigabyte or palit 8800gt ( I was looking for reviews/benchmarks of these new cards)

I'm also building a new comp....but I plan on waiting till January b/c:
1. 8800GT is the best! ($/performance) BUT availability and more importantly (at least to the value consumer) the quality will be vastly improved: 3 phase power, quality components, better cooling solutions, better bios...
I'm sure it's been said.....but I think crysis makers are idiots....they clearly have a poor engine which needs improvement.
Why is it that other games can pack very high quality graphics and they can't?
It's all software....the designer cards they use don't convert very well to conventional...
I have been waiting a while to upgrade my comp vid card (currently 6600GT AGP!) which is completely obsolete and doing a complete rebuild (which I am forced to because AGP isn't used anymore ;). My 2 cents on the "current" scene:
1. 8800gt is scarce...but if this was true then why are companies...
