I see your point to a certain extent. What I accept is the 2 cards being discussed 800XT/850XT are nearly the same in performance. I was under the impression that all 800 series cards only had 12 pipelines, apparently I was wrong. What I dont accept is either card is handicapped for the...
I accept that if you're talking PCIe cards, however, my point was the cards are different enough to have them on seperate lines without regard to their standing among the competition. He answered saying he ran out of lines and was really interested in 7800 vs. X1800 series. Problem with that is...
This is very true. My retail ATI X850-XT OCs to PE clock speeds with no problems, however, I've read/heard that many with non PE 850s have not had much luck OCing them. Apparently it's a crap shoot and I hit seven...hehe ;)
The 800 is a handicapped card, the 850 is much better and the PE has faster memory. That said, the real question is, are you upgrading/building an AGP system or PCIe system? As someone pointed out, the x850-xt is the best AGP card...period. If you are upgrading an AGP system, you can't even...
More info: I don't have to reboot the machine to fix this problem, only log off and back on, then everything works fine as long as I do the screenshot first...it's almost like the "PrtSrn" button stops working more than a clipboard problem...hmm...I do use a MS wireless keyboard, I wonder...
My clipboard doesnt hold screen shots once its been used for something else. Example: Ill copy and paste some text from one document to another, then take a screen shot using PrintScreen and try to paste it into PSP or some other paint program. No image, just a funny looking symbol that...
You are correct as far as the blurriness is concerned. As I pointed out in another thread, ATI has always had better 2D (read desktop) images than nVidia. Maybe their RAMDAC isn't as clean, I don't know. I do know it's very obvious on a high-end monitor...
Again, I think its the monitor you use that dictates what card you drive it with. Ive had a Sony F520 21-inch CRT for years, I love it, however, I just ordered a Dell UltraSharp 2405 FPW 24-inch wide screen flat panel, the Kick-Ass monitor of the year! Ive always been a big monitor guy and...
How bout this one, a Ford Crown Vic police cruiser that can keep up with a 180 mph 'vette, Viper, etc!? That's one of those things that has always bothered me about NFS games...still love it though... ;)
Yeah, ATI was having driver problems back then. In fact, they really didn't get their driver situation squared away until just the last year or so IMHO. A little OT but since I started the thread I'll take the liberty to point out that they (ATI) still don't have anywhere near the support for...
It's a better all around vehicle out of the standard first 3, however, if you have NFSU 2 saves on your HD, the best option is the Golf GTI, that's what I and most others with that option went with...it's much better than the Lexus... ;)
Thanks for your input. I do a lot of 3D gaming but also like having the power to run photoshop, etc without running into slowdowns/memory issues so I figured the dual core AMD was the way to go and since it's 64 bit compatible, why not get the 64 bit version of XP. I probably will install 4 GB...
Another question. Does SLI work well with XP Pro 64 bit edition? I'm looking at the AMD X2 42+ or higher as a CPU. Sorry about all the questions recently, putting my "cart" together and realized it's been awhile since I built a new system, especially one with an AMD processor. Damn, there's so...
Update - ah shit, here we go again. Like I said in my previous post, did you guys actually build systems with these parts? Apparently there is a real problem with the ASUS A8N-SLI Premium POSTing. Many people who own this board have reported this problem. Maybe its one of those disinformation...
Now I have a comment. The TT Soprano case seems to be questionable. Two of the three reviewers that purchased this case complained about the bar at the top which makes PSU installation difficult. Also, the toolless aspect of this case seems to be low quality based on several reviewers...
OK fellas, Im taking the SLI/PCIe route for my next upgrade. Ive been using the holiday system guide as a reference so I may end up with something that looks similar to the $1000 upgrade. The editors note points out that for @ $166 more you can get the dual core 64 X2 42+, however, he says if...
Actually, though I may be worthy of the noob label, it was so long ago I forgot (I'm 45), but, yes, all are correct, it had 6 while the others had 4, thanks for the correction...may I have another...
:p
Oh, well you could just go to digitalcorvettes.com and check out my picture gallery:
jpsharkgallery
I think you can look at them without registering, not sure. You'll also see the pics of my old '89 ZF 'vette which sadly was totalled about a year ago... :(
Huh, well, I'm glad many of you don't like the rice look. Personally I like small V8 powered cars, like my real 'vette, here's a pic:
This car turns mid 13's at over 103 mph and tops out over 150...not bad for a 20 year old chevy...hehe
See, to each his own...I really like the Porsche's, the ones in the last couple posts anyway...I know the black one is a Blacklist car, the above orange and black is really cool I think...good work Dude
Haha you all missed the point. Understand, we had never seen anything like it before, the glide (openGL) 3D I mean. Q2 in true 3D with the cool lighting, it was just so much better than anything we had seen up to that point. I guess you had to be there sigh
I just got done posting in another thread and started reminiscing. I was thinking back to 97 when the first 3dfx based boards were coming out. Man that was cool. And of course, I had to have the best available Canopus 3dfx with a whopping 4MB of video RAM. The other cards of the day had only...
Man I here ya, really. I feel the same way. Truth is, I don't have anybody to brag to anyway, even if I did care about such things. What you said is dead on. Just want to crank it all up and enjoy. :D
Currently using this rag...not my favorite but it runs OK, working on getting the Cayman...
Image compressed and resized so as not to be rude to others...
