Of which you own two!? I don't get why you are so angry with Nvidia to be honest. My 8800gts and 9800gtx have served me great. If I needed more power than my gtx currently gives I'm sure the 260 would be serving me just as well.
Because the average may be higher but the minimum fps will be a lot lower than the new cards in memory bandwidth intensive parts of a game. Read the [H] review of the 280/260 to see this. The gx2 had better average fps in some cases but the new cards were more consistant and felt smoother in...
I don't know what you mean by 2 missions, if that includes sub parts of main missions or not? Anyway, I wasn't very impressed with the game in the first mission but as soon as I spent some more time on the game with missions and side missions I was totally enthralled.
I love the story, the...
You hit the tilde key ` (left of the 1 key).
Then type:
/com_maxfps 0
To see what your card/pc is capable of (you may be cpu bound at that resolution depending on which cpu you have.)
The game will feel more responsive at frame rates above 60, particulary being an engine derived from quake the game is very sensitive to your frame rate.
Bman123, try opening the console and typing /com_maxfps 125
125 can be any max frame rate (and setting it to 0 will set no limit) but I...
Have you tried non-widescreen tft's? Just wondering if it's because of the field of view angle in games. Or do you mean in applications also? I know some people feel motion sickness in fps games unless they adjust the fov.
Have a look at http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=MTQ1OSw0LCxoZW50aHVzaWFzdA==
I haven't used any other coolers but the Accelero is as good as any other in sound/temp as you can see in the charts with the Thermalright HR-03GT edging ahead just slightly, but then the accelero is a fair...
Ti500 vs 8600GTS
Core Clock: 240 vs 675 MHz
Memory Clock: 250 vs 1000 MHz
Memory Bandwidth: 8 GB/sec vs 32 GB/sec
Pixel Fill Rate: 960 vs 5400 MPixels/sec
Texture Fill Rate: 1920 vs 10800 MTexels/sec
Just goes to show how numbers don't mean everything!!

Mathew, I think Blue Falcon is right - the S1 probably weighs less than the GTX cooler. This is because the GTX cooler has a solid metal heat sink across the the entire cooler where as the S1 has very thin fins. Besides, you put 2 faceplate screws to hold the GTX in place so it's not going...
OK, success. Ignore my last post :D
I reseated the Accelero as I had lost one of the spacers and fashioned one myself. Anyway, I found the lost spacer under my desk at work (as you do), reseated the cooler nice and tight hey presto. 39 idle, 54 load (12 minutes on ati tool.)
So much better...
Blue, did you use the accelero spacers for your 9800gtx? I mean the 4 black spacers for the GPU plate screws.
I decided not to wait for the new accelero 9800gtx and get the cheaper (and quieter by the looks of it) S1 rev2. So just fitted it tonight. My idle has dropped 15c (45) but my load is...
If you are getting improved FPS from the 9800gtx you are more likely to see tearing. Vsync should sort this nicely.
I know what you mean about crysis, it would be nice to be able to run it on a decent resolution. But that is just crysis. I run it at 1280x800 with everything on high and I get...
Gears of war sounds like a driver issue possibly. Did you run driver cleaner? Have you reinstalled GoW? Having said that, what do you mean by 'smooth but not as fast' for the ATI? :) You should try using fraps to see your actual frame rate.
I used to run it at 1600x1200 with no issues on a...
I've been lurking on this thread for awhile and I've finally replaced my 19" CRT (Iiyama Pro) for a w2007v.
Wow.
It's dead crisp and the colours are flipping good. Can't fault it.
Had to turn vsync on in a couple of games due to tearing (welcome to tft gaming? :)) but the games look so...
First review (kind of) of the Accelero 9800gtx: http://www.techspot.com/review/99-inno3d-ichill-9800gtx/page9.html
Some nice pics and good cooling again. Will be interesting to see if the install issues are fixed like you mentioned Blue.
My 9800gtx arrived yesterday :D I'm running it at...
Nice post Blue.
I have a similar setup - antec designer (same as solo) and a 9800gtx arriving on Wednesday. Think I'm going to use tin snips to cut a notch for the card though, don't fancy taking the PC apart as I already did spend that 30 minutes on getting the cables hidden!
Good results...
Mine is much slower than I imagined....
I'm still flippin number 17 in the evga step up queue!! :) (and have been for weeks)
I think I love it though. The part number looks nice.
I can't see intel beating nvidia myself. Look at intel's previous GPU technology, it would be a huge step up for them to suddenly be competing with the big guys (with the huge gpu R&D)
It may not be intended but it sure is faster than the GTS! (which is why Nvidia will release the GTS 112 soon which should push itself back into between the GT and GTX again..)
8800gt is now on evga step-up in the UK, woot!
I'm #21 in the queue, replacing my gts 320mb (bought the 320 as I figured I could step up to 640 if nothing new came out before end of the year)
Ok thanks ty1ler, I've downloaded that version now and offset the core 0/core 1 temps on speedfan by 15C.
Below readings are idle, don't know exact ambient but it's pretty fresh this morning so about 15C I would say.
Do I need to offset core temp also? And what is core temp showing me?
I've just built my new pc with an e6750, Gigabyte DS3L and Sythe Ninja Rev B and I'm a bit concerned as to my heatsink seating.
The Scythe is completely cool to the touch, so I may have a case of bad seating - but then what are my core temps all about!?
Basically I'm a bit confused as to...
That Lost Planet test was at 1024x768.
If you run Lost Planet at *real* resolutions the quad core won't have any advantage, except for any help the extra shared CPU cache brings.
The second link is a physics test isn't it? Well games aren't lmited by the computers physics processing but by...
lol, you sound like me.
Well I saw a w2207 (and w2007) in the flesh today and was amazed at the colours on the screen. I'm definatley going to buy one seeing as they are quite a bit cheaper here than the NEC.
I've never seen the NEC in person so I can do this, as unless I saw how much...
Did you make a decision yet Gooter? I'm thinking between these two screens myself.
NEC seems the better choice for image quality, the HP extra 2" is good for gaming, and as for response times.. I'm not sure which is better as I haven't seen a review with both of these screens together...
The Samsung is a great performer and virtually silent, it's the drive I'm using in my upcoming build. The samsung looks faster than this WD also (at Custom PC the Samsung loaded Farcry in 35 seconds to the WD's 41 seconds, and the drives had similar performance in windows.)
