update:
Well, leaving "Check calibration status on launch" UN-checked "fixed" my problem. After I calibrated and restarted my computer, the Spectraview software did not give me the pop-up that settings have changed...etc.
When I loaded up the spectraview software, it still showed all 3...
Ok, this is getting VERY annoying. I made the change that you mentioned Monitor Guy (and thanks for you input by the way!) by turning off "Use Auto Luminance".
Calibrated all 3 monitors, restarted computer. Again, it pops up telling me that settings for the monitor have changed, and would I...
Snowdog,
Thanks for the reply. The startup issue is very annoying. You said that you have the monitor calibrated and the profile "set to load". Maybe that's what I'm not doing? Could you maybe share you settings that you have in the SV2 program when you go to Edit -> Preferences? I don't...
Hey all,
I'm on the comp alot, and my wrist hurts from all the mousing around. I tried looking into two products so far, and neither are really working for me. The first was a handheld touchpad that I got off of ebay. It's ok, but even after using it out for a while, the speed is just not...
Hey everyone,
I ended up getting the LCD2490wuxi-sv but I guess I just don't really understand the whole calibration thing. I'm not a photo professional, but I got it just because it was recomended to get great color, and I'd like to have great color. :)
I calibrate it using the photo...
Hey all,
I'm *wayy* beyond tired, but I just got done building my first comp. By "done" I mean installing all the parts, running the wires, etc. I haven't even turned it on yet. Going to leave that for the morning, because if I do that now, I'll never get to bed!
So I'm just wondering...
Hey guys,
I'm buying multiple NEC 2490's. What I'm wondering is, can I get a regular 2490 (LCD2490WUxi) , and also get a spectraview 2490 (LCD2490WUxi-SV) , and use the calibration software/hardware to calibrate ALL of the monitors? (all meaning the non -SV 2490)
It sounds like the -SV...
elleana, thanks for the quick reply, and compliment! I get heavy into research at times, but I've just spent way too much time on this. I need to get it done and built and back to work! :)
About the $1,000 for the case/video cards/mobo - those where just rough estimates that I hammered out...
Hello all!
Yes, I've been using a 7 year old comp. (Athlon XP 1800+ ) I've added a bit of ram and changed out the graphics card once, but that's been it. Also, getting rid of my 21" CRT and getting LCD's. :)
Here's my answers to the sticky questions:
1) What will you be doing with...
Another question: When you are recording, what is the usage on your cpu? Does it noticeably slow down your system? (bearable? un-bearable?) What about if you are recording two shows at once?
I have an old 21" CRT (20 viewable), and I run it at 1280 x 1024. It was the right "Fit" for me. 1600 x 1200 sort of "scrunches" the letters and makes them look smaller, but 1280 x 1024 makes them look right.
All the shopping that I've done for LCD's and checking them out, 1920 x 1200 on a...
Snowdog,
Could you take a picture of a page of HardForum text, (this thread would be cool) from about 30 inches away?
As for the second comment, unfortunately, (because of price) I think that's how it's going to have to be for me. (that I won't be happy with any other LCD except for...
Thanks guys.
I wasn't really trying to compare glossy to matte though, what I was primarily interested in, is how easily readable the text on the Imac is, to how it is on the 2490? (Text looks beautiful on the Imac, and looks like I could spend many many hours reading on it, and I was...
First off, I just want to say THANK YOU to you guys, you are being *very* helpful, and I really appreciate it! (and, if I could figure out how to multi-quote msg's, I'd be doing it)
valve1138, can I ask why you have two HD-PVR's? Is that so that you can record two different shows that are on...
Thanks for the replies so far guys. I did a bit of reading into all of this. Still very confusing.
Yes, I'm not really into recording HD, my main thing is that I want a very Tivo like setup. I want to be able to record tv shows, and set it up so that it automatically records them whenever...
Hello all,
I'm building a new computer, as mine is quite old, but has served me well. I really don't know much about the whole HTPC thing, seeing as I've spent WAYYYYY too much time researching monitors, and I don't even have my build finalized yet. I need to just grab the info and move on...
Hello everyone,
If there's one thing I hate about all this lcd monitor shopping, it's not being able to see the actual monitor in person. Supposedly, the NEC 2490, and the Apple Imac 24 inch use the same lcd panel, it's just that the Imac is a glossy screen.
Having gone to BestBuy and...
While not a direct answer to your question, have you checked out the Matrox DoubleHead2Go and the TripleHead2Go products? They allow you to stretch your desktop across 2, or 3 monitors. There's a video on youtube, if you look up "world of warcraft 3 monitors" and watch the first video, you can...
I"m sorry, but I've been looking, and I don't see what the other choices are besides those? If you could enlighten me, I'd be very grateful, because at this point, I think that's what my search has come down to, is just finding something that isn't horrible, and also is non wide gamut.
I've...
So the Benq V2400W and the NEC 2490WUXi are the only two non wide gamut monitors that are available right now? (I would include the G2400WD, but as far as I can tell, it's not available anywhere right now, and won't be untill the end of October?) It frustrates me that the V2400W isn't VESA...
The Planar is wide gamut, and after what I've read about wide gamut, it's something I'd like to stay away from. Could you do me a favor though? Do you have a second monitor, or could you possibly set up your Planar so that it would be at an angle like my 2nd and 3rd monitor would be in reference...
Hello everyone,
(I know it's a giant wall-of-text, but I'm trying to give all info possible you would need to help me. Thanks!)
I've been reading [H] for about a week and a half now, diving through all sorts of links to panel type descriptions, side by side comparisons, etc. I think I've...
