TV is at 1920 x 1080. 22" monitor is at 1680 x 1050. I've been using this setup for at least 3 years now. Both are using DVI cables. One DVI cable has a DVI to HDMI adapter at one end to interface with the TV.
They are extended/spanned displays.
The only thing that has changed in the...
Amazon has been awesome (as always) and shipped me a replacement the next day. I put it in and same issue. When I turn my primary display (the panasonic tv) off, no change in display configuration. As soon as I power it back on however, it changes to a single monitor setup and labels the TV as...
Ran windows update and there were no new drivers for the TV. It shows up right now as "Panasonic TV" with the correct resolution, refresh rate, and bit depth.
Nothing has changed configuration wise except replacing the 470 with the 670. I tried switching the DVI ports on the back, but it...
Just picked up a Galaxy GTX670 GC to replace my 470. After installing it and updating the drivers everything looks and plays great. I'm running two displays off of DVI. The first is a Panasonic HDTV, the other is an older 22' BenQ LCD. If I turn my monitor for a while and then come back, Windows...
best guess for right now.
the problem disappeared when I switched shells (physical laptop, minus the hard drive). this is still with the VT-d switch disabled in the BIOS. I remembered that it didn't come that way stock so I rebooted into the BIOS to turn it on. After another reboot into...
new theory. it came back.
but only after enabled VT-d in the BIOS (I use lots of VMs for work). Disabling the VT-d switch in the BIOS gets rid of the problem. guess I didn't need to swap out my hardware.
Ran prime95 for an hour. Impressed at how well the heatsink works in this laptop. It never topped over 48C. Occasional artifact around a window border, but it immediately corrected itself.
Ran 3DMark06 and despite it chugging along at 3 fps - it looked pretty crisp.
stopping the dwm and...
Correct. Playing Osmos I will get some texture corruption. Not a very demanding game (still a ton of fun and worth the $10 on STEAM).
To validate this theory I suppose running a 3D benchmark would stress the chipset out and induce artifacts. I'll try that and get back to you.
So this just started happening a week or so ago. Running Windows 7 x64 off of MSDN on a Lenovo R400 with the Intel Mobile 4 Series chipset. In a nutshell, as I'm going throughout the day doing work my screen gradually becomes more and more corrupted. Usually it starts around the title bar and...
solved! and there's a short lesson to be learned here
don't trust Windows Vista to provide drivers.
A fresh batch of the latest Creative drivers cleared up my issue.
I had a set of the Klipsch GMX 2.1's for a period during college and loved them. They just sounded so much nicer than the rest of the lot (despite looking a bit wonky). When I became a bit more serious about audio and went through my research/design phase I also went shopping for a new set of...
when testing the various supported formats (DTS/Dolby Digital/WMA) in the SPDIF Out Properties panel, everything sounds loud and clear. However any application or windows sound is extremely low.
Hey, so I've been putting together a media station out in the living room. I'm running Vista with an Audigy 2 ZS. The Audigy is feeding a Harman Kardon AVR635 through digital coax. At first I didn't think it was working. I have to turn the receiver all the way up to hear tinny amounts of...
Alright so I just got a Dell m1330 with bluetooth installed. I've also have two bluetooth headsets, a Plantronics Voyager 510, and a BlueAnt Z9i. I'm really excited about getting it all to work together for Skype.
Initially I had I was prompted for a device driver anytime I paired a headset...
My trusted 42" westy died earlier this week. Died is probably too strong of a word. It's like my old dog that got hit by a car and we had to put him under because he couldn't walk anymore; save the suffering and just do the right thing.
I was watching an episode of Good Eats that fateful...
@fox_au
just in case you didn't know. Don't try and run the same audio signal through both of your audio setups at the same time. You're going to get some serious cancellation issues, especially with the two subwoofers spaced how they are.
nice setup though!
I bought my initial 4x1GB set of Ballistix 1066 last November for $300. They worked great until this February, upon which they promptly died on me; netting me bluescreens every 5 minutes.
RMA'd and got a new set - this time with the cheaper single sided DIMMs. Died after 3 weeks. Got one more...
Finally graduating and moving across the country from Virginia to Colorado. I'm planning on just road tripping with a friend and a U-Haul. Any tips for how to pack my 42" westy so it doesn't die on the way? The only thing that comes to mind right now is lots and lots of bubble wrap.:)
Alright, so this past fall I put together a new box after 4 years of not being able to play any of the latest games.
quad core q6600
asus p5k deluxe
crucial ballistic 4gb (4x1) pc2-8500
Everything had been chugging along smoothly until last thursday when there was a power failure...
my roommate has the RB-51s and they do sound great. if you're running them at low to moderate levels I'd say you should be fine feeding them a full range signal. you just won't get the same response as if you had a dedicated sub to handle the LFE.
I think this is what he found. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/893357
so virus/malware? what could malware do to clog the entire network? is there a way to monitor traffic through one of the router interfaces?
I'm using a WRT54G. Alright so here's the situation.
I've been using my WRT54G with DD-WRT v23sp2 since it came out and have been really happy. Around 2-3 weeks ago my roommates and I noticed that our internet was slow. REALLY slow. Pages would take half a minute or more to load. SSH into my...
I'm having issues figuring out how to resize the video in VLC. Dragging the corners of the window or full screening it don't actually change the video size. I'm running Vista 64bit. I can't seem to find the setting anywhere. Help?
OK. So I spent most of last night getting my new PC built and running. Here's the breakdown
CPU: Q6600
GPU: 8800GTS 640mb
RAM: 4gb DDR2-8500
CPU Heatsink: Scythe Infinity
MOBO: ASUS P5k Deluxe
CASE: Lian Li mid-tower
PSU: ABS 900w
And a variety of peripherals and drives
Getting...
OK. So I've had it for about a week now and can now comment on some things I've noticed. First and foremost is that what initially seemed like overkill now seems normal. Oy.
I got the 42" refurbished model from Newegg for $1000 shipped (they refunded my AIT delivery charge after I stayed at...
just got my LVM-42w2 for $1000 shipped (through newegg), and everything looks great albeit a bit bigger. I think the 42" is still a perfectly viable alternative for computer use at 3-4 feet. Maybe my eyes are just bad? heh:D
Those "300 watt 5 disc changer" systems are rated at max output through 4 or more speakers, so realistic rms output through any given speaker is much lower. I'd either look for speakers with high sensitivity or just get one extreme amp. Output SPL doesn't scale linearly with power (silly...
Let me clarify, I was referring to two monitors + amp, everything he'd need to get it running. And he'd be hard pressed to find all that for less than $300 (or anything worth getting).
I don't think he's going to be able to get PA Monitors for $300 :-\
I took advantage of BB's open box 30% coupon and managed to snag a Pioneer receiver for about half price. That's hooked up to a pair of Infinity Primus 150's and a JBL E250P. Everything said, done, and shipped was about $450...
I have a Pioneer VSX-515 going to a pair of Infinity Primus 150s and a JBL E250P. At the same time I didn't want to just trash my old Klipsch setup. So i stuck the klipsch satellites on the top of my hutch and balance the output to match the receiver. It actually sounds very good (the lack of...
