Opinions/warnings/other suggestions?
My brother needs a new computer and I said that I'd find a nice one for him. The thing is, I'm sort of a n00b when it comes to notebooks. His budget is around $600 - $700. He will use it for web browsing, word processing, and some light gaming.
Any suggestions or help?
I don't really know if this is the correct place to put this, but...
A few days ago my dad was messing around in my BIOS and I don't know what he did. When I boot up it gives me a message saying my CMOS Date/Time is incorrectly set. It gives me a choice to enter setup (F1) or continue with...
When I booted up, the Found New Hardware Wizared popped up to install a RAID Controller.
The problem is, I didn't install a RAID controller.
What is wrong?
XP Pro, BTW.
Well, my case has a metal frame that can be taken off the back. Is it possible to get a new one of these that will fit a 120mm fan?
Case is a CoolerMaster Praetorian.
I have (as the title explains) a question about case fans. Right now there are 80mm fans in my case. Is it possible to fit 120mm/bigger than 80mm fans in it? How?
Thank's for the help.
Tomorrow I will open it up and try to see if I can get some better airflow; my PSU has some extra cables that may be in the way. :)
It is seeing 3 GB, so should I just leave that extra DIMM in there?
Also, could it have to do with dual channeling?
And I agree, I don't think he knows what he's talking about.
Alright, today I talked to my friend and asked him about this. He told me to partition my hard drive in half and "assign" two GB of RAM to each partition. Would this work?
Oh, I went in the Operating Systems forum and I didn't even see that thread!
I don't have time to read that entire thread right now but I'll do it later. Thanks.
Alright, I got SP2004 and I'm running two at the same time, one for each core. How long do I run them?
I might open it up and see if there are any airflow restrictions etc.
Would you recommend a new/different HSF?
My mobo (asus) came with AiBooster which displays CPU temp, System temp, voltages, etc and also lets me overclock. I also have Everest which is giving me CPU temp and GPU temp.
What's prime?
I have four 1GB sticks of RAM. My computer only sees 3 GB. Does this have to do with Physical Address Extension? Does anybody know how I can use all four sticks? I've heard it has to do with XP 32bit not supporting PAE, but my system says that PAE is active?
