I have 2 pci slots (microatx) and 16 drives. I'm currently using 2 Supermicro sat2-mv8 but have a pci-e slot and figure why not. :P

i use ipcop with the cop+ addon to get dans guardian. its in transparent mode so need to touch the laptops in the house. very easy to setup and i'm very happy with it.

If there is data on there, and you create a partition that would be bad. what was the system formated as. windows won't see it except as ready for a partition if it had a *nix filesystem on it. This may help. Its a ext2/3 driver for windows that will allow you to see those file system...

Don't the Buffalo Stations do that? Its on the network but you can access the USB port on it at same time via network. Not totally for sure on that though.

I have this problem all the time with my xp boxen. I figured its just another xp 'feature' one thing that I found helps is to force a sync of offline files (My Docs is setup to a network share). Once I do that, everything else works fine. Highly annoying though.

My first gut reaction would be to lock him out. Change the wep/wpa keys on your wireless, and the ssid. If he wants fast internet then he can pay for it himself and get his own connection. I had to do that when I had a roomate. He had his, I had mine. Cox had no issues hooking up 2 modems.
