Appreciate the feedback, everyone!
So I've decided on either the EVGA G3 550W or the Corsair RMX550W. Regarding noise, you bring up a good point Sith'ari. I'd like a quiet PSU that doesn't lack on performance and the RMX seems to be a good choice in that regard. I've been reading about the...
Follow-up question if you guys didn't mind.
If I do decide to get this PSU, how serious of a rig would I have to be pushing for PSU to be insufficient? For example, if I wanted to upgrade to Ryzen in the next year or so, do you think this PSU could be used? Or maybe I should get something...
Thanks for the reply!
I looked at Newegg and they have a sale going on for the EVGA G3 550W for $85, $70 after MIR.
Does anyone think I can find a better deal than this or should I pull the trigger?
Hey guys,
My trusty rig that I built years ago blew its PSU last night. I was watching TV, heard a loud POP! and smelt a faint burning smell. It appears the PSU (Seasonic X-series 750W, purchased in 2011) gave out. I just hope it didn't fry the other components.
I was initially drawn to the...
No, the 2TB has always served as a storage drive. The SSD is the only drive that has ever contained an OS. I think I'm gonna research some more about using testdisk to restore the partition so I can access the drive. Has anyone here used testdisk for fixing a RAW drive? Hopefully it's pretty...
Correct, I wiped the SSD which is my primary drive and installed Windows on it. In the list of hard drives it lists the other two drives that I extracted data from but not the primary data hard drive I have, which is the 2TB. It is not accessible because it is still not formatted.
And yes...
I thought so, thanks for confirming.
I just have two more question at the moment. I'd like to try to secure erase one more time but before that I'd like to wipe the letter drive the 2TB hard drive has been assigned to. Since it is still unformatted, would erasing the letter drive through...
Yeah I only secure erased the primary ssd and not the 2TB one. So getdataback is supposed to be pretty good? Better than recuva? And it will work with a non formated drive as well? Is it similar to other data recovery tools in that it will send the files to another drive? Or since the data is...
Well I did the secure erase through diskpart and it's still not showing up. In fact it somehow assigned a drive letter to the disk but it still wants me to format. It says the drive is not accessible and for me to please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the...
Will do, thanks! Could you elaborate on the ssd's secure erase function though? I have a Crucial C300 and found programs such as HDDErase and Parted Magic but couldn't find one that was specific to my model. Would one of these work?
I formatted it because I thought that was the only way for it to be seen again in Windows. The main one I'm trying to preserve, the 2TB one, has not been formatted again so the data that is on there should be on there. I'm just not sure how I access the data WITHOUT formatting it again since...
Hey guys, here's the skinny. I have an SSD, a 2TB primary storage drive, and two other 500GB drives in my computer. I noticed Windows 7 was getting a little sluggish so I decided to wipe the primary drive which is my SSD. I used DBAN on it to wipe it clean but prior to doing that I unplugged all...
Just thought I'd bump this with a question rather than made a whole new thread.
So I have everything I need and installed everything (currently hiding the wires as best I can) but the only piece I'd like to upgrade is my optic drive. My 3550A has been good to me in it's years of service but I...
How fast are these? If I get one to move my music and videos from my other drives, and use it to install games on, will I pleased with the access time? Or is the 54000RPM just too slow even though it's a SATA 6.0Gb/s drive?
Datavision's reply
"Hi,
I am very sorry for the delay and the issue with this particular item. We oversold on them and they are in transit to us from NEC. We anticipate receiving them in 3-5 business days. We can cancel the order if you do not wish to wait. I am sorry again for the...
Same here. I ordered it from datavision through amazon and it still says it's "shipping soon" even though I ordered it on the 1st. I'm probably calling them tomorrow to see what the hell is taking them so long.
I'm in the process of building my 2500K/P8P67 pro setup and had a question. I know the replacement motherboards are expected to be out in April I believe but once I get this current rig running and install drivers, applications, etc, can I swap out motherboards and have everything that was...
Yeah I'm going to roll with it. Least I paid with my Amex so I'm kind of protected. You think amazon would do something if something went wrong since the order was placed through their site? Or since they are essentially the middle man they really couldn't do much?
I dunno. I put it in my cart, starting checking out through paypal and when I submitted the order an error page came up. Tried it again, same thing. Not sure why. But good on you if you got it.
Hmm, yeah didn't even look at their ratings. Now I'm a little nervous but still hoping for the...
I really didn't need a monitor but I ordered this anyway lol.
Anyway, not sure if this will work later or not but it may be worth a shot.
If you go here: http://www.datavis.com/cgi-bin/product.cgi?prrfnbr=515142&site=GOGL and enter the code "DATAVIS10" you could get it for a much cheaper...
Even on the P8P67 PRO? It says it has 2x Intel SATA 6.0, 2x Marvell SATA 6.0, and 4x SATA 3.0. Obviously the 3.0's are affected but what about the Marvell's? Should they be fine as well since they are also 6.0?
Still, I don't know what I should do. I was planning on building a new rig...
Just out of curiosity sake, is the Marvell SATA 6.0 faster than the Intel SATA 3.0? I'd assume so since it's a 6.0 but I read others commented about Marvell being slow so I'm not too sure.
If the Marvell's aren't that bad, wouldn't those that have 4 hard drives or less not be affected as much...
Thanks guys. Does installing games on an SSD only improve load times? If that's all the noticeable improvement I guess I could just use this for the OS and install games on a backup hard drive, Think that'd be best?
I've been waiting for a deal on a larger SSD drive but I'm thinking about buying this. Just had some questions for anyone who's willing to help me out.
Realistically, once you put Win 7 and disable hibernation mode (heard that feature really eats up space), how much usable GB's are left? If I...
Yeah I was thinking about that. But that Raptor still has XP and files from my old rig on it. Is it possible to build the new rig and use the Raptor as my primary drive again and just use XP and everything else on the drive without a problem? Obviously I don't plan on keeping it for a while but...
Does anyone know when these new SSD's will come out? From the posted link the C400 should be out in Feb (anyone know if it's early, mid, or late Feb?) but what about the new Intel ones? Around the same time maybe? Is there anything else coming out soon? I have everything needed for my new build...
So I have a dilmena, maybe you guys can help me out. I purchased this G.SKILL Ripjaws 1600 ram a week ago for $100. I got the 1600 series before I got a 2500K which I believe doesn't really care if the ram is 1333 or 1600 so my question is what should I do? Should I just use what I bought or...
Oh I don't mind the reinstall. Besides, there's a few files I have on the drive that I want off from there so I figure I can transfer them on my flash drive and just run the old hard drive with XP on it as my primary again until I could get a deal on an SSD then once I do, make that my primary...
Yeah I'll probably wait for SSD prices to drop. This might be a stupid question but I'll ask it anyway.
I'm building this rig because my old rig had some annoying blue screens happening and I figured it was time. On my old primary drive I have Windows XP and some other stuff still on there. Is...
I hate you guys. :)
So yeah, ordered the 2500K/ASUS combo and the HAF 922 case. Should be fun!
Just had a few questions.
1. Every review I've read about the 922 says it's got pretty great airflow. Would upgrading the 120mm fans that come with it be worth it at all? Or should I not...
Hey guys, I made a thread a while ago but just started purchasing parts recently. Here's what I go so far.
PSU: Seasonic X750
Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
Video card: Radeon 6850 1GB
And I definitely need a mobo, cpu. case, and maybe a new optic...
So is this better than the 6870/5870 deals that have been recently posted? I'm in the market for a video card and I'm liking the price but how good of a card is this?
So I'm planning a new build very soon and I need a PSU. This seems like a good deal but do you guys think I should hold off for one better or should I just buy this one now? Wasn't sure how hot this deal really is.
Thanks!
