You're right, the pixel density is much lower on a large TV as versus a PC monitor, but it's still a healthy 1920x1080. The only 'problem' that a low pixel density creates is that you might want to sit a little further back. Unless you absolutely can't shift back a bit, that adds utility, not...
Okay, I'm not sure if anyone else has mentioned this (I don't have the time to read everything right now), but I do have a suggestion.
I've been looking for a monitor to replace my quickly-deteriorating Dell 2007WFP, which is the IPS version, and, being a web/graphic designer (and a...
As others have said, that's what you get for placing your information where anyone can read it. If she is expecting businesses to play nice, she's completely mistaken. I can understand the use for such sites, but I still encourage the information that a person makes available to be kept minimal.
Well... again, I'm pretty sure there aren't any LCDs on the market that can go beyond 60hz. I'm not sure which models you could have seen at your LAN events, but I suppose I could be wrong if they're new tech. Also, the human eye can't perceive more than 60 frames per second, so I'm not sure...
Just so you know, I'm pretty sure no LCDs are available with the ability to go much, if any, beyond 60hz refresh rate.
Also, why do you need such a low resolution? I can understand a low input lag need, and, to an extent, response time (though that's pretty well a moot point these days), but...
Whichever you choose, if you plan on using it for a Wii, make sure it has the least input lag possible. I'm using my Wii on my Dell 2007WFP (which has pretty low input lag) and games like Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles are still laggy enough that I need to predict where the cursor is going...
As a web/graphics designer myself, there's just no way I'd consider being talked into anything but an IPS-based LCD. MVA and TN panels have flaws that are just too severe for any serious color work. Unfortunately, there's no way you're going to get (outside of special deals such as the Dell...
I find connecting my Wii to any LCD provides a perfect example of how much input lag I can stand. Load up a game like Metroid Prime 3, or, if you REALLY want a test, try Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. If there's any monitor lag, you'll be quick to notice it there, and it'll definitely hurt...
While Marvel and Capcom may have parted ways, I certainly hope you aren't equating the death of arcades in the US to the downfall of the fighting genre as a whole. Series like SoulCalibur, Virtua Fighter, Street Fighter, Tekken, and Dead or Alive are all still going strong, with most of the...
da233, the answer is yes; it'll be a VGA-quality connection at that point.
And filthysanchez, way to quote the exact same link I did. Might want to read the replies first. ;)
Actually, it's just the opposite - you're easily able to convert a DVI signal from your PC down into a VGA signal. It's upconverting a VGA into DVI that requires some special hardware. Pick up one of these babies and you'll be set.
Enjoy your new PC! ;)
No, it would work, of course; I've done that in the past. Obviously it's not the optimal method, but it worked for me when I wanted to have both in-game sounds and play music from my PC through the same speakers, at the same time. :D In any case, it'd be cheap to give it a shot, right? Just get...
Wow, rfc. Posting 'shopped photos of your PC setup, with copyright notice, no less. Out of creative ideas, are we? ;) Don't take yourself too seriously now.
Nice setup, by the way.
There is likely something, but I wouldn't worry about it. The only reason to use component over s-video for the Playstation 2 would be to achieve progressive scan (in place of interlace), and even that is on only a handful of games. This won't get rid of any jaggies, as the resolution will still...
This monitor is the worst I've ever used. I had the same problem as everyone here, and there's no doubt in my mind now that both Viewsonic's quality control and support line are horrible. My situation was so disgusting (I made a thread a while back recording it, but it's not worth digging back...
Not that I like to be the bearer of bad news, but good luck with fixing it. I had the same problem with my VX2025WM, went through two replacements, and finally had to get a BBB complaint filed to get a full refund. Three months of monitor hell, and I won't be buying a Viewsonic product again...
Huge kudos to you. I was thinking much the same after reading this thread, and it's certainly not the only time where I've seen the populous on this site revert to rude, biased, self-righteous behavior. While it's true that most people know more about the topics that they have a personal...
Also, for anyone interested:
Soundcards based on the C-Media 8738 / 8768 chipsets (such as the X-Mystique from Auzentech) both have pretty crappy drivers on any OS, and are especially under-supported in Vista. Thankfully I've come across an open-source driver set for these cards which has...
I've been running it for about two months now and I have to say, Vista in general certainly has a learning curve! Most of my problems with Vista x64 have been user error, and the rest were driver issues. Frankly, I'm very much enjoying this OS more as I learn its nuances, and everything just...
Another vote for Vista. I've been using it for a few months on my new PC, and now that nVidia's drivers are in better shape, I haven't had any non-user or third-party related problems. I say get it now and watch it improve; I'd be surprised if you can find any serious downfalls when compared to...
Yes indeed, and count me in for another vote for Dragon Force. The Saturn introduced me to strategy games in two ways: Dragon Force, in its brilliant (and not yet duplicated, sadly) worldmap/turn-based concept, and the first Command and Conquer, which of course needs no introduction. Sega's...
Wow, I have a new respect for what Microsoft has done with this operating system. I had no idea that the changes between XP and Vista were so numerous. Fair enough! I'll be sure to use the "Run as Administrator" option to install and run, let Vista do its thing, and enjoy it!
Thanks a ton for...
Hi all,
I recently upgraded my PC to the specs below:
- Biostar TForce 550 motherboard
- Athlon X2 3800 OC'd to 2.5ghz
- 2GB (in four 512MB increments) of generic DDR800 RAM
- GeForce 8800GTS 320MB
- Windows Vista Home Premium 64Bit
In purchasing such, I have done a full reformat...
I'm glad to hear it! The biggest problem I've had with WoW has been that silly monthly fee, since it's just not worth it for someone like me who can only play once a week or so. I've really enjoyed Guild Wars, and if they make a new version with a persistent world, well, I'll be all over that...
Do this! I recently upgraded to a pair of Grado SR-60s for home use, and some KSC75s for my Zune. Fantastic combination, though if noise-canceling is important for you, feel free to substitute the Grados with something else.
Also, if you're looking for some excellent headphone forums, go to...
I've had mine for about six months now, no problems at all. I run a air purifier fan toward it at all times, though. Less dust, cleaner air to breathe, and cooling for my 360... good stuff. :D
