Is the body squishy? It looks like it might be. In that case you might want to try a pushbutton type switch. That way you can just push somewhere and have it turn on instead of having to find a place to mount the switch where you can get to it.
The switch can fit anywhere. Incomplete circuit=no light.
Maybe a couple pill style batteries would be enough to power it. I don't know specifics about what to use, or where to find a holder for the batteries, but good luck.
Yeah... those thermal pads are there to make up the difference in height between the heatsink and the memory chips... That could definitely have something to do with it.
and putting a big hole in the side of a case that is designed to be quiet kinda defeats the purpose...
Do you have heat problems? From what I've heard, that case runs pretty cool.
I don't own the drive, but I ordered 2 of them for my new computer... I'll let you know, but in the mean time, I'd probably go with the prevailing sentiment.
You aren't going to get the same bandwidth out of a usb drive that you would out of a ssd... all flash memory isn't created equal, and as has been said, the writes involved in most operating systems would burn out a flash drive very quickly.
There is a reason it isn't a popular thing to do...
$200 off of a 40d? $300 off of a 5d? Thats pretty freaking good. There aren't many lenses on there and they don't stack, but this is the price you pay for instant rebates.
A rep from adorama answered the same question earlier on another forum. You can use the packing slip that they put in the box. It will be from where ever you bought it. I bought from adorama (through amazon) because they had the cheapest price I could find, and if you take the rebate in the...
Sandisk is running a stackable rebate program on their Extreme III, Extreme IV and Extreme Ducati brand flash memories.
This is going on at many different retailers and can knock the price/gb for a 4gb Extreme III CF to $7 and change or less. You can get a rebate on up to three different...
I wasn't planning on building a computer for a few more months... but $279 for a q9450 was too good to pass up... so here I go.
I have the mobo picked out, and the case, just need a PSU and video card.
If someone can think of a good finish to put on over the SS look... I'd be all over it. The gunmetal finish is so much more expensive, but the mirror finish just isn't my style.
Good deal though if you can deal with the smudges.
And you sound ignorant because you continued to stick to your guns in the face of many many people coming forward to tell you differently.
Dell corporate is different from dell small business. Maybe this is where we are getting confused.
Hello, can you read? Lots of people have done it. Numerous people have said in this thread that they have done exactly what you said they could not.
Do you really think that all the people with latitude laptops got them from a business? They didn't. i didn't. Sorry dude, you are wrong...
I wouldn't. They don't have a resistor, and fan headers aren't made to run led's so they might overload the led's with current or voltage.
They don't have the right connectors on them for a fan header. They are made to replace the power and hd activity led's.
If you want to use them for...
There is a difference between saying "people need to protect their private files" and "it is their fault their stuff got stolen."
The fact that what the geek squad people did is wrong is really moot in this discussion. Of course it is wrong. It is stealing.
The question is, "is it...
How much truly private volatile information do you have on your computer? Encryption or off-site (at least external) backup of your most important information is easily doable. If you are that afraid of someone stealing your vacation pictures, store them on an external harddrive. Do you...
Meh... if I steal porn, I will share porn.
You can argue that it is a slippery slope, but it really isn't. Don't keep porn on your computer if you don't want people to find your porn stash.
And if you are afraid of someone stealing your financial information or intellectual property...
Basically, it depends on how important the work you are doing is. If it were something important, definately use the calibrated connectors. They will cost more, but using the right tool for the job is always better. I would be amazed if these would not mount on a standard protoboard. You can...
How restricted are you for size? You might want to use locking molex connectors so that they don't come loose.
Edit: I was thinking of:
These crimps (top)
These Connectors
and
These headers
They are basically 2 pin versions of the locking connectors that they use on cpu fan headers...
If possible, do what the above poster suggested. Turn the board over and put some solder on your iron.
I always keep paste flux around for the solder work that I do, so it is pretty easy to get solder off of a board. A little flux on an empty iron will usually pull enough solder onto the...
Those fans are going to be drawing less than 1A (assuming they are running at 12V), and I don't believe that an optical drive will draw all that much. You could probably run 8-10 fans off of one molex without too much trouble.
This will soon turn into a game of "Name that Whitebox notebook manufacturer"...
There are not many companies that actually make laptops. This is probably one of the many companies that relabel these laptops and sell them.
I wish I could tell you which one it is.
13A give or take...
