Just be careful. I had to go through 4 of these monitors to get an alright one. Three had multiple stuck pixels around the center of the screen. The fourth has two gray-ish pixels at the very bottom, and I think I will keep it.
I just got a new monitor from Buy.com to replace the defective one from Amazon (dead pixel, backlight bleeding). The new monitor is even worse. THREE dead pixels, backlight bleeding and the "pinching" issue under the right bezel is even more pronounced.
I will play the lottery one more time...
I want to replace my Dell P2414H which is a good monitor but has grainy AG coating. My requirements are:
1920x1080
Light AG coating
A stand that can go in portrait mode.
I don't mind either 23" or 24", although I would prefer 23".
I keep it at 30% brightness. Here is an image. Note that the camera exaggerates the effect by a lot.
Even more annoying is the right edge of the screen where it looks like as if the bezel is "pinching" the panel:
I just got one from the merchant on Amazon and it is bad. Has 1 stuck white pixel in the middle and excessive backlight bleed on the right. I requested a return let's see how it goes.
I just got this monitor an I can confirm that the coating is grainy. I don't have the Asus to compare it to, but I have an old dell 2007fp and it is just as bad.
I am deciding if I am going to keep it. I don't know if there are any other monitors in that price range <$300 that are both PWM...
Beware of the sparkle effect.
I was really disappointed when I got my 2007fp with S-IPS panel, the sparkle effect annoyed me to the point where I chose to return the monitor. And this was despite all the fuss and good reviews on this forum.
According to this, all big S-IPS panels suffer...
I am on my 3rd Soyo now. The first one got an annoying dead pixel only after 3 days of use. The second one had a bunch of dead pixels right of the bat and went straight back to Office Max. The current one has a dead pixel, too, and I am debating with myself what to do.
Wait, did you say in the other thread that you've mailed the rebate already? I don't think that you can return it to newegg once you've cut the UPC code.
There should be a warning with big red letters on top of the display forums about newegg and their monitor return policy. Don't get me wrong, Newegg is great in many regards, and they should be commended for that, but when it comes to displays they are the worst place to buy from.
Oh well, mine just developed a stuck pixel after two days of use. Tried flashing and rubbing but didn't help. The first time I am having a bad pixel on a monitor
It is an AU Optronics P-MVA Panel according to this post. I can confirm that it is not TN for sure, since I have a TN right next to it and compared them. The viewing angles of the Soyo are waaay better.
WoW looks gorgeous. When I saw Stormwind with the Soyo for the first time, I wanted to cry...
I just bought mine, and I was wondering what kind panel it has. This post clickety says that it is P-MVA, is that true? How can you tell a P-MVA from a TN? Mine is made 11/2007. When is yours made, Bio-Hazard?
Congrats for the monitor :)
I went to Office Max an hour ago and bought this baby for $299 + 22 tax + 29 for 1 year Office Max warranty, because from the other thread in this forum I heard that it's not exactly problem free. Either way for $350 total I feel like I've stolen the thing :D
Thanks for all the replies guys! I see that the bigger the better, so I will try to get a 24" screen, because my budget does not allow for more.
I was thinking about what Dave said regarding the larger dot pitch of some screen sizes: 19", 22" and 27". Funny, but I have never worked on one of...
Hi there, I was thinking about moving to a larger monitor than my 17" Samsung LCD I bought a long ago. So I would like to ask the coders here and the people who work with a lot of text in general to share some ideas. What monitor(s)/sizes/setups work best for you?
I have ga-p35-ds3r and it is driving me nuts. It will fail to boot properly 80% of the time. After pressing the power button it will reboot itself a couple of times, and it will reset the BIOS in the process. Thus, I have to change my overclock settings, again, and again, and again. It is a pure...
I completely agree with you. All you brown-nosers can say whatever you want, but the criticism is valid. [H] has been down more time than all other hardware forums I know combined. And yes, the other forums are also free, and no, I won't just leave, I like [H]. You can now go ahead and make a...
Well, I got to the last step of the order, and changed my mind. Is this board better overclocker than the GA-P35-DS3L? The latter one was 95 shipped somewhere ( I don't remember where, ) and has solid caps.
NVM, here is comparison between the two boards: linky they seem identical, the only...
Hi guys, can you tell me whether you use this monitor with cleartype and whether you like it. I do a lot of text work (software dev) and good looking cleartype is of a great importance to me.
It's a 64 bit card and has only 6.4 GB/s memory bandwidth. In comparison, a five year old Radeon 9600pro has 9.6 GB/s. Memory bandwidth is important for such a high resolution.
Only when you turn the volume to max... that's when it draws that much juice. But even then I don't believe it. It won't be the first set of speakers with grossly exaggerated power output.
Oh, and almost forgot to mention I just ordered them! Dell site says they will ship it on 27. That is...
I couldn't find the warranty info either. Those are second-hand cards after all. The usual "we have assured this product blah blah.. " doesn't spark any confidence in me.
