I wouldn't even consider the 1680x1050. If the monitor will only be used solely for the 360 then definitely go for the 1920x1080. But if you plan on using it as a computer monitor also, I would get 1920x1200. Fortunately, there have been a ton of deals on 23" 1080p monitors for under $200. And...
Got a response from Planar.
I'm sure a lot of retailers are still selling old inventory though so try to check first. Now I don't know whether to get the LP2475w or this.
I'm waiting for a response back from Planar on the two DVI ports. Sounds like new models will have it. Great cause the only thing keeping me from buying this monitor was the lack of inputs. This is still one of the fastest IPS monitors out right?
I've pretty much made up my mind that I want this monitor. My only concern... brightness. How are you guys dealing with that? Does tweaking do any good?
I generally like a dimmer monitor because I'm looking at it for such a long period of time.
Anyone use this monitor as a display for Xbox 360? I want to get one just for my 360 but I've read that it won't do 1:1 pixel mapping. Is there another name for pixel mapping or is it gonna stretch to 16:10? If it does stretch, is it noticable?
I have the V2400W and its a really great monitor as far as the panel. Picture is excellent and no problems whatsoever. I was never crazy about the design, and I'm starting to notice that its leaning due to the off-centered stand placement (had it for about a year). If you can get the G2400WD...
Kingston performance memory is far from cheap so I don't know what you're talking about. I could see Kingston's version costing as much, if not more than Corsair's.
I'd love to get a 6gb kit of these, along with the Foxconn Bloodrage. Combine it with the Corsair HX620W and an ATI card...
I'm really looking for a case with a black interior. So far I only know of the Lian Li PC-X500B, the Antec P182SE, and the Silverstone SST-FT01B-W.
Has anyone seen any others that are completely or almost completely black interior?
Any idea on when these will be released?
I'm really hoping that the P183 won't be as ugly as pictured and will come with black interior. If Antec made the P182 in all black (exterior/interior) and with a window panel.. I'd be in love.
I'm on one right now and I like it alot. If you're stuck between the G2400WD and the V2400W, keep in consideration that the V2400W lacks a VESA mount. The stand is built on. That is really the only drawback. After that its mainly preference over which casing you like. I opted for the V2400W...
I also haven't experienced any flickering black bars when this thing is in 1:1 mode with 1080p. That was a major drawback for me when I heard about it, but it doesn't seem to effect the G2400WD/V2400W.
I keep seeing pixel pitch of 0.282 mm. Pixel size is smaller and there is more pixels per sq inch. I think pixel pitch is just different between TNs and other monitors, so it probably doesn't matter anyway.. as long as theres smaller sized pixels and more per sq inch.
Do you mean run both computers to the same monitor at the same time?
If you mean 1:1 pixel mapping, then yes. You can set it so that if you play 1280x1024, it will put black borders around the outside and keep the correct aspect ratio.
I love the stand on the HP w2408h, and the glossy screen gives the "effect" of better color/picture but I did notice some backlight bleed whereas I haven't with the Benq.
I ordered a V2400W from BenQ Store on 5/23/08 (Friday). It didn't ship until 5/27/08 (Tuesday), but that is very understandable considering Monday was Memorial Day. I then received it on 06/02/08 (Monday).
So it was a total of 4 business days. I don't blame BenQ because it was a holiday...
The monitors I've looked at in retail stores all look relatively crappy. I'm currently on the V2400W and I'm very impressed. However, I'm still uncertain as to whether this is the panel for me. I can say that this is the best quality TN panel I've seen. Much better than any of those I've seen in...
10e: Since you have the NEC model with similar panel and also the G2400W, which monitor would you recommend for gaming (both PC and console) along with web browsing and basic computer use?
I feel I know the answer already as I have the V2400W, but I'd like to get your input between the two...
Yeah, its sad. But if people see bigger numbers in the specs, they think its better. Brightness means nothing, and contrast almost means nothing because they typically post "dynamic" contrast numbers. As far as I'm concerned, resolution and dot pitch are the most important specs for a display...
You can't compare the FP241W to this monitor. They're two different classes and price ranges. Overall, I'm very happy with the V2400W. I can honestly say its the best TN panel I've seen personally. Zero dead pixels and no backlight bleeding. If there is any backlight bleed, its very uniform and...
I uploaded the manual if anyone wants to take a look. The dynamic contrast and overdrive options are switchable on/off. They come disabled by default.
V2400W-en.pdf
Alright, read through the manual. Theres an option "AMA" which is basically overdrive. Its disabled by default. So both dynamic contrast and overdrive are both able to be turned off/on and by default are turned off. Good stuff. I might post the manual if anyone wants to take a look.
Edit...
Alright, I just took a quick look, heres what I found. Dynamic Contrast is disabled by default. You can only enable it under the 3 picture modes: Photo, Movie, and Dynamics. Even if you activate those picture modes, it doesn't activate Dynamic Contrast unless you enable it manually. I'm happy...
I just got my V2400W tonight and have been playing around with it. I haven't yet found a way to disable dynamic contrast. However, I'm not positive if its disabled or enabled by default. The option is greyed out. I'm going to read through the manual tomorrow and see. So far I'm very pleased...
I know this thing is supposed to have low input lag and low response time. But can it compare to TN panels such as the G2400W or V2400W? I'm just curious if I'll see any decrease in response going from TN to this. Thanks.
Anyone tried putting one of these on a Neo-Flex LCD stand? I know the DS-263N exceeds the recommended weight for that stand but I'm hoping it might work.
Its been a while but I believe I received the HW-216DPB model which has DVI instead of HDMI. The model I ordered was HG-216DPB and the box even said HG-216DPB but it definitely didn't have HDMI. They included a bunch of cables, including DVI. I can't imagine the panels differ between the 2...
I ordered that Hanns-G from Staples and was not impressed. The bezel was cracked to shit when I opened it so it was doomed from the start. I still plugged it in to try it out. Colors were not great and viewing angles were pretty bad but it is a TN. They did however include a DVI cable which was...
I'm a little confused. You just got done saying that the V2400W is not worth $400. But you are willing to spend the same amount on the G2400WD which is the exact same monitor with a different bezel? Same panel, same features, same everything except the casing.
Hey, at least they didn't include built-in speakers lol. They only included the speaker jack due to the HDMI input. While I do agree USB ports would be a plus, no way is it a deal breaker. Invest in a $15 dollar USB hub if you feel otherwise. :P Oh, and I don't think it was so much a cost...
10e, you are the freaking monitor guru man. You really know your shit. Just want to say thanks for spreading your knowledge. I'm starting to think you work for Benq or another well known manufacturer. If you don't, you should be.
Anyway, I personally opted for the V2400W this time around...
Pick me because I've already purchased it and its on its way. You wouldn't even need to ship out another, just refund my moneys. :D I ordered it without hesitation because of the reputation Benq has built with its previous G2400W model. While I'm no professional, I'm not a noob either so I think...
Do you guys honestly buy monitors for the usb ports? Thats the last thing on my list. Overall, I think its a pretty good value. Even the cheapest of 24" TN panels will run you around 400 bucks.
They just started selling these on Benq Store for $449. Looks like a nice monitor and I sort of like glossy. Heres the link:
http://store.benq.us/benq-us/product.aspx?sku=3844863
It also appears that the G2400W was pulled from the store. I wonder if this is its replacement but maybe they...
I've found a monitor that has the same panel as the Dell 2408WFP and the Samsung 245T but much cheaper. I remember reading about the Dell's horrible input lag. Is this lag due to the panel or something else? Basically my concern is.. will all monitors that use that panel have input lag issues?
I've always felt my CRT looked better in all aspects than any LCD I've used. My good ol' NEC FE991SB has lasted 5 years and it looks like its finally dying. The screen flickers at the top and bottom, and I've put quite a bit of scratches in it. It will be a sad day when it finally goes since all...
