I bought one and the first thing it did was the OTA update to 3.1
I have found playback of HTML embedded and discrete app youtube/flash to be excellent. The device is susceptible to flaky wireless connections (like any other device) and a few places I go have problems due to low/intermittent...
Could anyone comment on PDF viewing and available PDF annotation software? All the fancy capabilities are really attractive but I want to know about the actual tablet functionality. I want to go back to paperless (had a convertible tablet for a while and it was good but this looks like my...
Graphene is a fabrication NIGHTMARE. The idea of making an atom-thick structure with CONTROLLED and known properties several million times over PER CHIP is mind boggling. Now, it's pretty mind boggling that chips exist at all so it was worth the effort to research. There all ready are other...
Looks like a fabrication nightmare to me. A lot of applications outside of your home computer come to mind for me. Everything from TV's/DVR's to routers and mobile devices. Telecomm routers, and other infrastructure in-line computing might like this, too.
With the advent of SSD's I'm not...
Refurb for a desktop is probably fine. there are WAYY too many things that can go wrong with laptops (plus the possibility of physical abuse that didn't leave marks) for me to ever consider buying a refurb laptop.
Well, maybe if I got a 1 yr warranty and used a credit card that doubled the...
i'll play mediocre games for 10 bucks, sure. It's the pure crapshoot between the mediocre and above-average games that keeps me from ever paying $60 for a new title, ever. That includes the AAAA titles for me.
I've never paid more than 50 for a game, ever. I'll wait or deal hunt and if something better comes out in the mean time I'll get that and the game goes into the "some day" list. Eventually I'll buy it used or buy it on steam for 5-10.
Ever since the POS that was UT2k3 I've been very wary...
scary stuff to have this power for so cheap. The only uses I can think of are science-related and the power is probably too big for most of those! Even 1/2 that power will burn though a few micrometes of highly-absorbing stuff really quickly (seconds, tops).
just be CAREFUL with this...
free for me, too.
I use unlocked phones, though. I have a grandfathered plan w/ unlimited data. Looks like I'm not changing anything, well, ever. If they try to change my plan I'm out for a different company so fast their head will spin.
I've been keeping an eye on netbook tablets and, honestly, the HP tm2t is a way better bang for your buck, given that the netbook convertible tablets hover around 400-500. The HP is a ULV-processor machine so it has a full processor, you can get one even with discrete graphics, and it has...
i noticed that too. strange.
freaking triumph of tech and programming. not sure whether I want to play a game by jumping around all the time (yahtzee has a great point there) but it sure is amazing.
sure, that'll work.
They don't mess around there: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/dec/17/israel-guards-shoot-laptop
as to the OP, more signs that this project shows some very un-apple stumbles out of the gate.
Is this the European version imported (been out in europe for a little while), rather than the US version?
I'm so torn between 10+ hrs mobile and the multitouch (had a convertible tablet and loved it....).
it's still more of a capital R w/ lots more r (not to mention the D). Still, the semiconductor industry has been incredibly good at getting from basic science to products in an amazingly short time (SOI, HfO2 replacing SiO2, Cu replacing Al etc). Graphene is still one "a miracle occurs here"...
from my experience with tablets (had an x41t convertible tablet for 2+ years), the ipad is actually TOO SMALL. It's easier to grip a physically bigger device, cradle it in your arm to write on it or surf the web and anyone can easily prop it up on your lap, rest it on a table, or lay with it...
I think there was a thinkpad(?) laptop years ago with a netbook-sized screen, say 10" ish, but the kb folded out so you had a full-size KB. There must have been durability or some other problem 'cause netbooks now don't use that strategy to get a full-size kb.
convertible netbook/tablets are ~600. I'd get one of those in a heartbeat over an ipad (or any full-slate).
the only thing the ipad has going for it is a built-in user base that all ready knows the UI and is comfortable with the apps store. That's not a small thing, either....
smells like a hack or at least an inside job. . .of course:
"Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity."
There are many regulations which cause as many problems as they solve but some well-conceived ground rules about internet connection requirements and...
if your att contract has $10/month unlim. data get an unlocked smart phone of your choice. You'll save = the phone over 2 yrs vs the $30/month data w/ an iphone. (20 * 24 = 480)
e.g. N97 (or mini) flavor, the nexus one (if it comes out for ATT's 3G) etc etc...
if you don't have unlim data...
As a scientist, I agree one should consider all the data. Here is an excellent place where it's all broken down: http://www.skepticalscience.com/
please stop regurgitating the opinions of others and spend some time evaluating the data yourself rather than searching for the quote that supports...
Actually, you picked the MIT professor that shares your view and take their word.
A poll of the MIT faculty would give you a very different impression.
One of the things you should keep in mind in ME is that your decisions have real consequences. . .for at least two games worth. If you burn somebody they won't forget if you run into them again. Obviously if you kill somebody then they are gone along with all of their benefits. I really...
working on:
Dragon Age (PC)

Need to get back to:
