I've lived in Alaska for the past 21 years and seen lightning maybe twice.... Heard thunder maybe 6 times... One of those times my neighbor lost two computers and a tv to it. Extra couple of bucks would be well worth it IMHO.

A person with a lot of certs and no exp looks like a dumbass, but for someone in this guy's particular situation I would suggest to get the A+ and Net+ certs. I got both of those while still in college and they got me an entry level Intern job which in turn helped me get the experience needed...

I think I talked with her while trying to get a hard drive replaced for a friend's Compaq.... ;)

Ya, what r00k said, most schools with intelligent Net Admins would already have their switches/routers to automatically shut off a port if it exceeds whatever specifications they desire. At least that's what I did at work...

What other flags should we run? I haven't been following the updates or the forums for a few months and I'm a bit behind.

Straight cable, cross over is from computer to computer. 100ft long and close to power lines may not be a problem, but it will definitely add a lot of interference. The more interference you have, the worse of a connection you will get.

Anjuta appears to be a lot better than Dev-C++ but unfortunetly I'm only running Windows boxes atm. Gives me another reason to add to the list (list is getting long) of why I should fix my linux box.

It's theoretically 100% possible. In order to do all the illegal stuff and some really cool not-so-illegal stuff with your xbox you have to put in a mob chip and dual boot linux. Once you are running linux there should be no reason why it wouldn't work, only reason why I say theoretically is...

Back at school now with 4 boxen back up and running, however my production is still depressingly low, but I figured it out! I got that hidden UD virus again on three of my boxen so they've only been running 50/50. :) No loss though, as I really don't mind running UD. Plus I'm still down one...
