now i need to o/c. problem is, my mobo (Abit Kv8 pro v1.1) goes bonkers when i even remotely attempt to bump it up (1 mHz). i have a working lock, but i am unsure what i can go up to voltage wise to stabilize the IDE chain. i get all sorts of errors trying to boot (file corruption ...)...
yeah, i gotta question where the fill/bleed valve is, since i dont actually see a res. BTW, thanx for giving me the idea to take the main mobo cable and routing it BEHIND the panel. i did it witha couple of wires, but now im doing it with all of em :D
also, why a t-line? just curious, i...
ehh, kinda dissapointed. has anyone actually used or read about a chaintech 6800gt? i might get it cause its cheap, its a pretty shade of blue, and the HS doesnt look TOO bad at cooling (but its not a leadtek, THATS a beast of hs.)
i know there are some that will be like "how the hell should i know, i bought a BFG 6800 Ultra and you should get one as well", but i am trying to keep it sub $390
i know that chaintech isnt really off-brand in mobo realm, but has anyone had a chance to use a chaintech 6800gt? also what about the aopen 6800gt?
thanx in advance
lol, "Once you go Mac, youll never go back."
...well except for gaming, but they are getting better about that than they have in the past, and its easier to get mac games than linux games. i recently bought a 1gHz Powerbook 12" as my first foray into macs, and i have to say, i am alot...
stick with what you have and use the extra cash to get a better PSU
my $0.02
edit: nm you already have a PSU lined up, but i would reccomend a higher wattage, say 500W and up...
nice, buuuuuuut, i dont know how that mix of copper and aluminum will play. other than that, its a sweet block
i wouldve gone w/ 1/2 half tho...but thats because thats what everything in my case is ;)...and the disclamer :p
as for the mobo, i would get the Abit Kv8 Pro (rev 1.1) ...but thats because i have one, thus creating a personal bias ;)
save the cash and overclock the bajeezus out of the 3000+ (make sure its a CG rev tho)
thanks dark ember. so if i put the t line right before the intake of the pump(ie after the radiator) itll work out fine? also can i use a y line, with the "y" facing towards the top of the case? (for example, the line is going through the "y" coming from the radiator and the extra arm is also...
i wouldnt think a change in the original loop would be necessary, water is gonna get cooled down somewhere along the loop anyway.
now for my question ;)
i have just begun my first water cooling project, and out of curiosity, is there a pretty in-depth faq on t-line fill/bleed? thats how...
ok guys, i just cleaned out an area for my heater core. and while it works(the space), i am curious, how much room should i give the heater core to "breath". one 5 1/4, 2, none?
the heater core is situated at(inside) the top of my case with a 120mm fan w/ shroud pulling air out of the case...
well i got my 3000+ at new egg for 175. thats w/ the Cg revision(CO was 4 bucks less, but i said what the hell is $4 when i already am over $150<shrugs>)
and i got a Abit board(Kv8 Pro) which ill also recommend
my $0.02
yeah, but nightwish is the first that came to mind. and i thought you might like some obscure band from Norway... its ok, i dont really care for them either. LZ is faaarrr better anyways ;)
about how much do you all think i can O/C with a Newcastle CG? 15%, 20% ....400% ;) :D
eh, if all else fails, take all the shock-prone stuff like hdd's, HSF's, and any other heavy items off, toss them in somthing they'll be comfy in and put it all in your backpack, pockets, socks, etc... then find out if the space will allow you to stow it after you get on the aircraft. if not...
ahhh, so ill be ok w/ ram, but what about the unlocking thingamajig? is it only possible w/ 939 cores or is it even possible at all(even with 754). or is the entire community of people without FX's left in the cold.
BTW Eclipse. reading your location, i am curious. do you like the band...
hmmm, maybe if i study the processor tech-docs, i may find something...<rubs chin>
ehh, if i am wrong i can post that what i do DOESN'T work and advise against it...then buy a new proc...
i am looking to build a decent dual processr system with a considerable budget restraint (sub $400), but i would like to have at least athlon MP's in it, but i would scoff at dual P3's
thanks
well, if there is no power to the mobo and the PSU is fine, he might as well get a new one and use the old one as a clockface or something, cuz its gone. i wouldnt think the cards and such would be damaged, but its possible. tell him to get a new mobo and start transplanting...
MD80? really isnt small, smaller in width than a MD10 yes, but not really small. i definatly wouldnt reccomend putting it in the cargo bay, nor would i carry it on and put it under my seat. i seriously doubt if it is a mid- to full-size tower youll be able to stow it in overhead. but you...
so cas2 memory won't be accepted by the A64? piss! when i got my AXP i scoured to get CAS2 mem, now i have to revert to 2.5?
also, is it even possible to get higher multipliers? (like the pencil trick, wire trick, speedstrip, etc...)
i have a A643000 cg stepping, Abit KV8 pro and 512 Geil...
i have 2 sticks of pc3200 Geil ram. will the A64 accept them at CAS 2 or will i have to clock them back. they run fine in my AthlonXP 2400 at cas2, but i have looked and i cant find out if the same ram will run on the A64 mobo(Abit KV8 PRO). everything i have read has said Geil 256 sticks...
find out if it is RDRAM 800 or RDRAM 1066.
RDRAM uses match pairs, so make sure she either gets a 256mb stick of the same stuff, or she gets 2 512 sticks of the same stuff. if she goes for 2 new ones, i dont think it would make a difference if she used a higher speed ram, but then again i am...
