Anyone getting a warm hue on the right half of the screen when compared to the left? I just got a replacement from tech support and still seeing the same problem I had with the first one, albeit this panel has slightly less BLB.
For those who have the monitor, take a light gray/white window...
Thanks for taking the time to post your positive experience! I typed this response whilst watching some ted talks on the very same monitor used to create this guide :)
Did some of my own digging around and you're pretty spot on. My SLI's are both cooled with closed loop coolers (antec 620's I think) so noise isn't particularly an issue but I'll be glad to get rid of the extra heat dump in the room and it will certainly help when I game on the 1600p monitor...

Download/install this utility and scan your drive, it will show you exactly what areas are the biggest space hogs. There are often temp files left behind by various installers than can span multiple gigs and can safely be deleted. As with everything, make sure you google...
In my experience it will not work in RAID mode or through USB (it is an ATA feature). In fact, this whole procedure is extremely picky and there have been a lot of motherboards that simply won't allow me to do a secure erase at all, no matter the sata mode. I keep an old eepc netbook around for...
Here's a good little guide to find out what is waking your computer: http://www.howtogeek.com/131464/how-to-see-which-app-is-blocking-your-pc-from-going-into-sleep-mode/
I personally have all C-states enabled and every other power saving option enabled in BIOS and after days of...
This. Also, no issues with Windows 8 or 8.1 that I have been affected by. Been using DisplayFusion for 3 years. I especially love all the hotkeys you can set up. I use a 120hz monitor for gaming and 30" dell for desktop work so when I want to switch my main monitor to the 120hz for fullscreen...
Aye, no offense meant, just thought I might save you some effort in case you weren't aware of the option. It has worked without a hitch for me so far, wasn't aware some people encounter issues with that method. Kudos for finding a workaround though!
You can actually just go to the shortcut properties, compatibility tab and check off "Disable Desktop Composition" which will disable aero whenever that program is run ;)
Some people who have done this mod end up with some glue left behind when they peel the film off. Whether this is a result of different temperatures, different length of soaking, peel method or whatever else, I am not sure. Of all the posts I've gone through, most people tend to mess up their...

This is the lowest I've seen this card and they overclock quite nicely. I've had 4 of them and they've all been able to hit 950Mhz without much trouble.

Mildly warm at best ;) I've been tracking these for a while, waiting for them to hit that sub $130 mark before I bite though.
1. A lot of us can control our light sources, making this a non issue.
2. It's the lesser of two evils between the grainy look of AG and the reflections of a glossy screen.
With that said, if reflections bother you that much then my 2nd point is essentially reversed and your lesser evil is...
You can, not sure that the water method would work to do it but I know you definitely can take polarizers off. I read an article not too long ago that actually explained how removing the polarizer is a cool way to hack your monitor for privacy. To the naked eye your screen will be completely...
Zoson, just stop. Your experiences =/= other people's. I too have invested extensive time in quieting my system because I am extremely sensitive to the slightest audible changes in tone and volume. I've gone through 8 power supplies due to squealing that nobody else could hear. I wasn't...
Throw an inline resistor in and you should be able to get them down to 800rpm np. Unfortunately that will prohibit you from turning them up to full speed without removing the resistor. If that's not a concern though, it's a pretty easy solution.
If you actually end up doing the 3007wfp, please let me know how it goes! I have one back in AZ that I am considering doing this to when I get back there in a few months.
I always use http://www.svc.com/sfm-1000.html with all case fans. The GT's need them a lot less than other fans, but I'm a silence freak so I try not to cut any corners ;)
I really should have taken some close ups of the grainy appearance before I did the mod, really didn't think to and regret it now. If anyone wants to take some pictures of the grain effect on their u2312hm or similar for comparison sake I'm sure it would be appreciated in this thread. I remember...
Screen is still fine, it developed a couple very small vertical grain lines in the middle of the screen that are completely invisible (and I really mean this, I've tried to look for them) while the screen is on. They do not have any kind of texture detectable when running a fingernail over them...
Are you me? Heh, identical story here. In fact, I subsequently bought a few AP-14's just to have some spare case fans for whatever and have since used all of those too. I can't get enough of these fans :)
They are QUIET. I've never heard a more quiet 120mm fan and am extremely sensitive to noise. It's not only the decibel level, the noise signature is simply way less annoying to the ear.
Don't forget, these coolers have a selectable BIOS switch midway on the top of the card marked "silent/performance". The silent profile is considerably more quiet with almost no impact on temperatures when I tried it, performance is the default shipped setting. You will need to reboot for the...
And herein lies the difference. It is 100% dependent on what you place more value in. That said, my 120hz 23" Asus has perfectly acceptable image quality after calibration. Maybe not acceptable enough for a graphic design professional but I'll take working on this monitor over a 60hz panel any...
Great post Pixel Eater, there are clearly some risks involved in this mod. The pictures you show are a pretty extreme case but honestly, the way this monitor was, I was not happy using it. The risk was worth it to me as it's not my only monitor and I was prepared to purchase a replacement...
People claim that different models have come with different coatings. I believe the 3007wfp's had some of the most aggressive coating. Some people claim it's all the same coating but with varying levels of perceived appearance due to pixel sizes/backlight differences. Regardless, it's annoying...
