Newegg has DS3 rev1.1(newest rev) $99 + shipping after applying the coupon code EMC413FGIGA
linky
Here are the major differences of the revisions
Rev. 1.0: FSB 1066MHz, one system fan header, ALC883 (Vista Basic Logo)
Rev. 1.3: FSB 1333MHz, one system fan header, ALC883
Rev. 2.0: FSB 1066MHz, three system fan headers, ALC888 (Vista Premium Logo)
Rev. 3.3: FSB 1333MHz, three system fan headers, ALC888

Just a heads up for those:
The 1.3 board is from old stock 1.0 boards but upgraded a little with 1333FSB support. You are getting a 1.0 board with 1333FSB support.

For the unrefined, that means 1.3 has electrolytic capacitors, versus the 2.0+'s solid capacitors. At lower temperatures (below 100 C), solid caps have a much longer lifespan, particularly below 70 C. Additionally, solid caps seem to be somewhat cooler and more stable.

I bought a rev 1.3 from Newegg and had it for about 20 minutes before returning it. As has already been said, it's basically a rev 1.0 but with support for newer FSBs. I compared pictures of a rev 1.0 to my rev 1.3 and they were identical. Finally, the rev 1.3 board comes with a rev 1.0 manual. I RMA'ed it and got a 3.3, but this is still a good deal for anyone looking for a cheap 965-chipset board.

uhh.....its a ds3 so it has solid capacitors regardless. the s3 is the mobo that comes without the solid caps. as previously mentioned, this is just the earlier revision of the ds3 with the fsb bumped up.

My rev 1.0 has solid capacitators

Oh, really? Whoops, an honest mistake, I heard otherwise. I guess that makes me the unrefined one.

the motherboard sucks if you want to go big, it just isn't quality hardware.

I went to 3.6 Ghz stable (450 x 8) on my e6400 and DS3 (rev 3.3) before I sold both of them off. Big enough for me...

I wish I hadn't sold it off because I'm just re-buying it again for a budget build (to go with an e4300). Oh well :)

yeah, 450 seems to be right at their max (the boards that are not plagued with problems) - After a 500x9 pass the motherboard came apart on me.... many, many problems with the board.. consider yourself very, very lucky. The majority of the problems come from the new 3.3 revision.

I wouldn't consider myself lucky, I just know what I'm doing.

You're lucky. Don't insult my intelligence with your 4 fucking posts.

My intention is to inform speculative customers of the high probability of problems you may encounter, a service I greatly lacked during my decision. I did recommend this board for non-overclockers... because without all the problems it's a great board.. unfortunately as more and more of the rev 3.3's with the pumped up FSB hit the market... the more I feel I should exercise even further discretion as the problems are becoming much more common. I'm not here to troll and flame... I'm hear the educate, and share my experiences, as well as many other peoples... as I've found myself to be a hub of technical knowledge regarding this motherboard. I'm open minded and realistic - theres no need to insult other forum members when I'm trying to be civil.

And most of us here appreciate your information and sagely wisdom concerning this board, I did concerning this board. BUT, that is still no excuse to drop f-bombs in getting your point across. Might want to read and apply your last sentence quoted above again... ;)

Yikes, looks like someone is easy to set off. I wasn't insulting anyone. I was just saying that I don't think I was lucky when it comes to the OC I achieved. I read reviews and saw people hitting 450-500 FSB with this board and an e6300/e6400. So I wasn't shocked that I was able to hit the same levels with my e6400. I don't consider myself lucky one bit, I had expectations that I thought were realistic and I achieved them. Sure I hit a couple bumps along the road, but I got around them and succeeded.

Maybe you just need to take a deep breath and calm down. And just because I have four posts on one forum doesn't mean I'm lacking in knowledge, it just means I'm lacking in the amount of time I've spent registered on this forum.

If what I said was taken as an insult, then I apologize because it wasn't meant that way. But what I said didn't deserve your reaction, not at all. You say I insulted your intelligence, then you go ahead and insult mine... and then you tell me that I shouldn't insult others. Kind of hypocritical if you ask me.

Anyways, staying on-topic... $100 for that board is still a very good deal IMO. Good board that can OC well and comes at a great price.

I'm easily offended by what I perceive as unprovoked disrespect.. it runs rampant on the internet, and my tolerance for it has completely eroded over the years. My apologies, when I say someone is lucky for getting what they did, and they reply that they are not lucky, they just know what they are doing, that clearly is insinuating that I don't know what I'm doing, I don't really think you could see that any other way. You appear to be genuine in your intentions though, so I apologize.

Honestly, I think the ds3 is a steaming heap. I've had decent success in three boards (rev1 rev2). All were able to get to around 510ish fsb. But long term results were iffy, even with hr05 on the northbridge and a fan on the south. besides, they ate some good ram

I have a 1.0 board and it's still cruising along at 400mhz FSB 24/7. That's really what I wanted out of it. As far as I'm concerned, it's a good deal at $99.

that's not uncommon however, the Rev 1.0's and 2.0's seem to be more stable, the 3.3's have the higher FSB strap... which is where the problems appear to originate from.
