Great, thanks for everyone's replies.
Right now I'm looking at the A5s, the Bx5 Deluxe, JBL LSR4326P, and the BeoLab 4s (still, I love the looks haha).
Thanks for the reply. You're right, I meant to say I want a flat sound.
I will definitely go and listen to some of these first before buying.
Pardon the total ignorance, but will these monitors be a lot more accurate than some of the stuff intended for home listening (like the BeoLab 4s)...
Basically, here's my scenario. I really only use my PC for entertainment because I don't have a TV (I move around a lot so it just doesn't make sense). I have the system in my sig, a PS3, and a unibody Macbook Pro that I primarily use for everything. So, I would like the system to work with all...
Okay so after two pages of arguing, are there any confirmed answers?
I was about to sell my E8400 to a friend and get a Q9450. But if its going to give me problems, I don't really *need* a quad core.
Again?
Wow, I was 10 minutes away from getting a 790i motherboard, I guess that's not happening. Doesn't Nvidia realize that if you're spending $300+ on a motherboard, you're probably going to be running it way out of stock specification? This is absurd.
I just installed Core Temp and ran Crysis. While alt-tabbing, I found it got to about 42 degrees for core 0 and 43 degrees for core 1. While idle, core 0 is 30 degrees, core 1 is 33 degrees. Is that normal?
Hey, thanks for the quick replies guys.
My power supply is a Corsair HX620W.
I always make sure to look the PCIe bus to 100mhz.
As of right now, my temperatures are about 30-35 degrees normally and get to about 39 degrees playing Crysis.
I haven't been able to get past much so far. I...
I've run my voltage up to 1.25v, I've loosened my timings to 5-5-5-15 although my ram is rated for 800 anyways, and I stuck on a Scythe Ninja Mini.
I'm running an E8400 on an Asus P5K-E Wifi. I just want it at 3.6ghz and it doesn't seem likely.
So its either:
A) My incompetence in...
I'm in a 12m x 15m university residence with my GX2. Lets just say there's no way in hell that I can game without the window wide open. For comparison, I had an 8800GT and its almost double the amount of heat just sitting there idle.
However, in comparison to 2 GTX, it should be slightly less...
So, I've always thought that "74gb is more than enough for an OS and a few apps", and it turns out that I have about 15gb left on this drive and its starting to scare me. I'm looking for a replacement and I have a few questions:
Is the Raptor150 really worth it when I can get a Seagate 750GB...
I don't have this issue at all.
Although, overall, this is a piece of shit board and I wouldn't buy it again. It takes something like 5 minutes to boot when there's a new hard drive in place. The SATA cables are right beside the south bridge so you need angled cables to connect anything with a...
Most stores in my area that get high end products are quite anal when it comes to return policies. We don't really have stores like Fry's or Newegg in Canada that are considered somewhat "big box" but carry high end parts. As a result, all the high end parts come from smaller stores that can't...
EDIT/FINAL UPDATE: BFG agreed to hand test the new replacement card and send it out today (the same they received my defective card). That sort of support is unprecedented these days. I only wish they did an Advanced RMA but I guess being down for 3 days is much better than 15. Thanks to [H] and...
Updates: So BFG claims they'll send me a card in a few days. My card was just received by them. I guess I'll start the waiting game and see what happens.
I had to RMA a 7900GTX from Canada with eVGA and they sent me a new card through Advanced RMA, it arrived the next morning. Not sure if they...
The place I bought it from said they would take the card and test it. When it booted, they said that's all they could guarantee and the rest had to come from the manufacturer. They referred me to the flap on the BFG box saying "do not return to store". *sigh*

Alright, you wouldn't believe what just happened. I installed the 174.74 drivers and the game ran great on high... BUT then it hard locked up and I had to restart.
After that, its running again on really crappy FPS and I'm forced to take things down to medium. This all happened in about 10...
So first, I installed it in my current system with 2GB of ram, XP-32, and a Seasonic 650w. The performance I was getting in Crysis was quite weak (everything else was already more than playable at 1920x1200 on a 8800GT).
As a result, I decided to jump to 4GB of ram, get a nice Corsair 620W...
Thanks for the help so far.
jkw, where do I find 180 degree cables like that?
I have an old skool no name brand SATA PCI card. Will that hinder my drive performance if I use that instead of the on-board controller?
I have 3 hard drives and a SATA DVD. So 4 In total I guess? I can get 2 in without any modifications.
Not sure what you mean by 90* cables? I'm sorry, I'll wiki it now.
I just got my 9800GX2 last night; however, it won't fit when I have hard drives plugged into the SATA ports. I have an Asus P5K-E Wifi with the only 6 SATA ports being right there near the southbridge.
Anyways, does anyone know of any low profile SATA cables so I can connect this on the slant...
I've gone cheap on cases long enough. My latest Coolermaster just cut my hand open for the last time. My 9800GX2 is coming in on Tuesday so I need the new case to accommodate large things like that. I want to hold onto this for a few years so it should have enough room for SLI and 4 hard drives...
I have a Seasonic that can run 8800GT SLI without a problem so I'm quite sure it can handle a GX2. Is there a way to buy a 6-pin to 8-pin converter? Will this make it work?
I just returned my 3870 X2 to the store last night, good riddance - I never got a stable framerate with it.
But to temporarily replace it, I picked up a BFG 8800 GTS 512 OC. I've been playing Crysis at 1920x1200 with everything medium and 8x AF. Everything else maxes out at my resolution...
Hmmmn, I'm using XP 32-bit right now.
R1ckCa1n, do you really think that would make such a big difference? If that's the case I can get a copy of XP or Vista and put it on this weekend. Also, is it worth doing Vista? I really hated how slow it made my computer last time I had it on.
So I just installed my new 3870 X2 (for those of you haters, there's a 30 day return policy which overlaps with the 9800GX2 launch hehehe) and performance is what I expected in newer games (maxing out UT3, CoD4, etc. etc... Crysis with everything high except shadows @ 1920x1200)...
BUT, the...
