    Go 7800gtx

Did a search for the Dell XPS M170 and came up with this : http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,1859229,00.asp There's an XPS m140 apparently (14.1 inch screen widescreen). Both seem to be Media Center pc's though. Definately have to keep an eye out for that one - it could very well...

    X2 3800+ new higher overclock!!!

Yeah I tried it - no go at all.....I think all the little problems I've had with the Asus is starting to add up. This asus board is starting to melt down.....think I might go DFI if I can find one locally, maybe I'll have better luck with that board than this ridiculous asus.

nvidia told reviewers to use Quality instead of High Quality? Poor AF Performance?

Heh well I'm on a 6800gt SLI rig, and performance has been pretty steady even with all the optimisations off (though not HQ under the sliders).

nvidia told reviewers to use Quality instead of High Quality? Poor AF Performance?

The nvidia control panel has been fairly flakey from what I can tell in terms of turning the Trilinear/AF optimizations. For it to stick in my case 100% of the time I had to switch off the Trilinear/AF optimizations under the global profile, reboot, and then nearly every game will be...

SLI not working in Battlefield 2? (7800GTX)

From the readme : VIDEO QUALITY SETTINGS - The word 'LIGHTING' is used in the front end Video Options page. This setting also controls the use of normal maps in the game. On the 'MEDIUM' setting normal maps are used on static objects only. On the 'HIGH' setting normal maps will be...

IIRC it prompts you if you want to install Gamespy Arcade (which you don't have to). The in game browser works fine without it.

    vsync & SLI

vsync doesn't work with AFR, but it should work with SFR. http://www.nhancer.com/help/sli.php Also the widescreen problems have been fixed to a certain extent, though there are some monitors that still exhibit problems. The 2405fpw is definately now working with widescreen + SLI...

Poll/opinion is Killzone Realtime or not

I think a lot of people are seriously misunderstanding what's going on. If you put two + two together, the Killzone footage was part of a pre made video montage that Sony played at the conference to give people an idea of what to expect from next gen games. Judging by what Mark said...

Xbox 360: Why would they use a DVD ROM?

    Typical 16x DVD = Data Transfer Rate /read: 21.6Mb/sec (16X Max.) 1x Blueray = 54Mb/sec There's a rumor of a 6x Blueray drive being the target for the PS3 as well.
  12. E

Xbox 360: Why would they use a DVD ROM?

It isn't entirely about space really, as Blueray also appears to be significantly faster than DVD rom drives. DVDrom = 11 megs/sec off the disc Blueray = 54 megs/sec off the disc Depending on how fast the PS3 drive is, they can literally stream something like 300megs/sec off the disc alone.

    SLI + 6800GT + Widescreen = ?

73.00 32bit drivers from 3dchipset seems to have fixed this for me. DVI @ 1920x1200 on a 2405fpw is now stable running SLI in WoW. Going to test more later.

    SLI + 6800GT + Widescreen = ?

I can't speak for the 6600 series cards, but generally speaking most of the people who have had this problem are 6800gt/ultra owners (I think mostly the early adopters as well).

can EQ2 be run high quality 16x12 with 6800 sli?

I wasn't quite able to run everything full blast at 1600x1200 with an SLI rig. Though if you turn off most of the shadow effects in game you can get fairly good performance out of it on just about any rig. The self shadowing in EQ2 is absolute MURDER on framerate.

World of Warcraft - 1920x1200 on 2405FPW. Video card question.

Well first, my setup : A64 3500+ running at 240x10.5, with a memory divider 6800GT SLI (default clocks), 71.89 drivers, AFR rendering Dell 2405fpw. Game is set at 1920x1200, 8xAF, no AA, Bloom Filter is on. On my set up the (extreme) worst case so far has been it drops down to the...

A Few SLI Issues potential buyers should be aware of...

Heh from all indication(based on various forum posts), they have already fixed it. Just that the fix isn't in the public's hands yet. It's just that Nvidia hasn't been willing or able to publish an official public beta fix "yet". What's absolutely killing people is most of us are more than...

A Few SLI Issues potential buyers should be aware of...

Well going by the same thread, this problem seems like its been fixed already actually. It's just that the drivers with the fix in them haven't been released to the public yet. Going by how one of the posters mentioned that the x64 76.71 (dated April 8th I believe) set has this problem...

Question for an SLI setup (single or multi GPU) in control panal?

Enabling the "Show GPU load balancing" option should make it clear as to whether or not a game is utilizing SLI or not. But basically if there's a profile in the drivers for the game you're playing already, then you really don't have to worry too much about the SLI rendering mode option under...

ForceWare 75.90 (Beta) drivers out now!

SLI problems may be isolated to the DVI port connected to an LCD only. SLI on a CRT seems to work fine with this set though

ForceWare 75.90 (Beta) drivers out now!

    Sli profile manager

i found the SLI control settings integrated into the profile manager of the 71.xx driver sets to be fairly intuitive. It even has control over AFR, SFR, single GPU options in it. Granted it's still fairly buggy in its current implementation, however it is something fairly promising if nvidia...

Why SLI sucks and is a waste of time:

KOTOR2 PC 1600x1200 4xaa 8xaf (I pretty much play all games at these settings now) is surprisingly good looking. And runs like a dream as well ( it uses the KOTO1 SLI profile by default pretty much).

why is the psp so ugly

I've gotten more movie playback and music playback out of my PSP than have done actual gaming on it really, and the battery life has been more than respectible in my eyes. Ridge Racers is top notch for a handheld game, and Lumines is like the PSP's answer to Tetris. I fire up a game of...

Why SLI sucks and is a waste of time:

Heh some minor problems aside, I've managed to get SLI working on a good amount of titles that I still play, and it's worked fairly well on some of the games I've tested on it so far. EQ2 shows a noticeable benefit from SLI now, and 1600x1200 4xaa 8xaf is very easy on the eyes in that game...

    NVIDIA's SLI Shortchanges Gamers?

Sorry, I don't have NFSU2 here - If there's a demo I might try that out later on. UT2k4 is doing something weird on my rig, like AFR is out of sync in that game or something. I can pick within the drivers themselves which mode (AFR, SFR, single card rendering) via the global settings...

    NVIDIA's SLI Shortchanges Gamers?

Just a side note : SLI seems to be working in EQ2 in AFR + 71.21 drivers. Note that I have the bloom filter off though and am running with AA + AF enabled. 1600x1200 with 4x FSAA is quite a sight to behold in that game, and it runs fairly well on top of that. EQ2 appears to be largely CPU...

    The Punisher demo... any good?

I've seen : Punisher kicks a guy to the ground, and shoots them in the back with the shotgun. Punisher picks up a guy with one hand, and shoots him in the groin with the submachine gun/pistol. Punisher sticks a grenade in the guy's mouth (requires you to pick up grenades first)...

    The Punisher demo... any good?

It's basically Max Payne without bullettime - but with a ton of hilarious ways to kill people. I thought it was kinda dull at first when I tried to play it exactly like Max Payne, but then I realized the fun in this game doesn't rely on the run and gun, but rather how many different ways...

nVidia 6800 and DVI resolutions > 1280x1024 HELP!?!

If I uncheck Hide modes this monitor cannot support I see an option for 1920x1200 - which I think was the native res of the Samsung 240t. The highest available res via DVI is 2048x1536 if I uncheck the hide modes this monitor cannot support box - given that's over the native res of my 2001fp...

nVidia 6800 and DVI resolutions > 1280x1024 HELP!?!

    Also : 1600x1200 = 1,920,000 pixels. 1280x1024 = 1,310,720 pixels. 1366x768 = 1,049,088 pixels. So really the 1366x768 resolution is a lower resolution than 1280x1024. It just has a different aspect ratio.

Well I'm using a native 1600x1200 LCD, which supports all the usual fixed resolutions. and this card works fine with that res via DVI. From your post before you're using a widescreen Sharp LC-37G4U (1366x768). Bar I think you're using a widescreen as well. Generally we're on two...

nVidia 6800 and DVI resolutions > 1280x1024 HELP!?!

Okay to make things perfectly clear, since we're apparently arguing two separate points. BFG tech seems to imply a 6800 GT (specifically, their 6800 GT) cannot run at 1600x1200 via their DVI out. I'm saying they can (my desktop in the previous post is running at 1600x1200 fine. ) Other...
