Biggest reason I'm considering biting on this is to CrossFire with my existing 6850. I would think we're getting close to the end of the 6850 lifecycle, so it's now a matter of trying to find that point where the cards are at their cheapest, but still available... The 6850 I already have isn't...
In for 1! Needed a new hard drive to replace a 500GB that failed in my media server. Now I can upgrade the DVD burner too and get rid of my one remaining IDE cable!
OK, my wife has finally had it with some of my impulse tech buys just sitting in the closet. So I've got to get rid of stuff. All prices include shipping:
TP Link TL-WR740N (new never used): Sold
Lite-On DH-52N2P CD-ROM: $10
Intel Core 2 Duo 6300 CPU: SOLD
Gyration Wireless Keyboard (missing...
Yeah, I know it can feel that way. But I've nabbed stuff from their store before--if you can catch 'em, they're usually cheaper than anywhere else on the net.
One, I haven't used less than two burners in years. I'm always moving a burner from my last rig to my next one. Makes copying CDs/DVDs so much easier.
Two, that's why you mod a case! To make it fit your needs--that's half the fun of building a computer! :D
Yeah, my wife's not so happy about that--but that's also why I was able to get such a good deal--the guy I bought from selling it because he was building it as an entertainment system and his wife wouldn't let him keep it in the living room.
So my old water-cooled socket 949 finally gave up the ghost, so it's time for a new computer. As much as I would have liked to tackle another water-cooling project, I just don't have the time and it was a fight to convince my wife to let me build this one anyway. So as a compromise, I'm back...
So my trusty A8N-SLI Premium went Tango Uniform recently. I thought initially it was the PSU because the 12V reading were flaky, so I replaced my Antec TruePower II with a OCZ 700. That at least got me some error beeps (which shouldn't happen on this mobo since its got the fancy voice POST...
What else is out there for an "enthusiast"? I'm looking for a whole house audio solution and Sonos seems like the best fit for me. I have yet to find a product that will give you the kind of control that Sonos offers. I could build a couple of media PCs, but how do I control them? The Sonos...
OK I need to tap the recesses of memory for an old school suggestion (meaning Pentium III or Socket A--read cheap) mobo that has IDE RAID and a fast ethernet connection to replace my SuperMicro 370SSR mobo in my Maxattach 4100 NAS. So it needs to fit in a 1U case. Anybody remember such a beast?
I need a SuperMicro 370SSR to replace the one that died in my MaxAttach 4100. I know it's an older mobo, but I'm hoping someone has one laying around somewhere.
I'm also open to other mobos that will fit in a 1U case.
Wow! What a great idea for using mesh!
OK, how exactly did you come up with the schematic for the mesh rad mount? Did you use any software or are you just smart like that and could calculate all that in your head and just sketch it our???
I bought a jigsaw on eBay for about $25 and it had the laser guide and everything. Get a couple of metal blades and it makes large cuts like windows much easier than using a dremel.
What's the point of having a computer if you can't automate seemingly simple tasks? I'm just not smart enought to figure out how to automate this particular task!
I realize this may not be exactly the right forum for this thread, but I figure with so many people posting cool wallpaper and desktops someone may have the answer.
I've got a modest collection of wallpaper that I really like. The problem is that I never get to see it except when I re-boot...
OK, I can't find the images of the side panels when they were freshing cut. But here are two pictures of the finished product.
This is the left side panel (as you're looking at the front of the computer). I had them cut the Air Force symbol into it. Not an overly complicated design, but...
Yes... shortly. I've been meaning to start a project log about my mod, but keep thinking I need to do "just one more thing..." I need to get over that and just start the damn log so people can see what I've been talking about on various forums.
Hopefully by the end of the week. In the...
I did send them a .dxf format like they requested. I used CadStd Lite to do that--it was one of the few free CAD programs that I found that I could use. Give that a shot. I think you'll probably be able to pick it up pretty easy...
