This is a better deal: http://www.comcastoffers.com/search/?cid=52054&affid=broadband_offer $20/mo for 6 months, free modem and $75 cash back. I signed up through them when they had $100 cash back and I got all of my rebates.
Well I submitted the rma for cross shipment, I have to fax in my credit card info for them to do the cross ship. I'll call on monday to see if I can do it over the phone instead, I doubt many people have fax machines and I don't want to pay $3.50 to fax it in.
On 2 corners of my card the pcb is scuffed and split a little. The card is working correctly, I just think it sucks that I paid $200 for a card that's not perfect. Anyway, should I be worried about it if it works?
I have a Dimension 4700 also using a Dell 2005fp with the onboard Intel 900 graphics and also used a 6800 gs with DVI. A lot of people swear that DVI is a lot better than analog, but honeslty I didn't see the huge difference people made me believe to see. Currently I'm using the onboard graphics...
Do you have any other ram to test it with? Or try using 1 stick of ram at a time. My Asus board would not boot with the new ram I had, I had to use some old ram then after I updated the BIOS the new ram worked. It was an AMD nforce board though.
Corsair XMS 3200, I'm using a divider though 2:3 I think or whatever 266 is. I looked for a setting to up my northbridge voltage but couldn't find it in my BIOS, I guess the A8N can't be changed?
I don't know if it's my board (a8n-sli non deluxe) or what, but it doesn't want to do more than 295 htt. I haven't bumped up the northbridge voltage though. I guess I have some searching to do to see if it'll be safe. (CAB2E 0551)
I figured it out, for whatever reason the mobo doesn't like the 5:6 divider, I had to set it to 266mhz which ever divider that is. Now it's booting higher, time to see what it'll do.
Currently it's at 255 fsb, 4x htt multi, 1:1 ram, 1.4v. (Opteron 144) I tried 260, 270, 280 FSB, 3x multi, 5:6 ram, 1.4, 1.425,1.45v and it hangs after it detects the drives durring POST. Any ideas whats wrong?
I just got mine a few days ago and it was a CAB2E stepping which is not as great as the CACJE steppings from a week earlier, so hopefully you'll be lucky and get the new stepping.
Ya, I was expecting to get a nice new chip, but I got the same stepping. A little dissapointed. oh well I guess, haven't tried to do much overclocking yet because the last proc I overclocked was an xp so I'm still kind of learning about the htt multiplier and what not, then i'll see what it can...
I was postive it was the motherboard, I mean if both stocks of ram that are supposed to be supported by this motherboard didn't work then it shouldn't be a problem. But, I did what you said, went to my parents house and grabbed a stock of ram from their pc, put it in and it works!!!! Thank you...
I guess i'm going to have to rma the board, nothing seems to work. Newegg doesn't rma the board, it has to go through asus damn it. this is going to take forever. i don't know what else to do, i'm just mad now.
The manual says put ram in b1 and a1 slots. i put the ram in b2. I'm not sure what I was trying to say, it beeps when it wants basically. The vid card power is plugged in.
I removed the vid card, still no beeps. installed 1 stock of ram in the wrong slot with vid card removed and got 3 beeps. put vid card back in, still no beeps. cleared cmos, 1 long and two short. then tried again and still no beeps.. Removed mobo and reinstalled. no help.
From what I read on the forums all mobos should boot up with the opteron and it would just report the cpu incorrectly. The fans and HD spin up, but no beeps and no screen. I used an esd strap and everything, last week I built a pc with an asus p4 board and used my dell parts and it stopped...
I just built a new computer with an asus a8n-sli non deluxe, 1 gig corsair ram, antec 500w psu, 6800 gs. Now I know for a fact the psu and vid card both work perfectly in my dell. I reseated the cpu, everything is connected correctly. What's the problem?
I'm in que for the evga 7600 GT CO superclocked from my 6800 gs co. It's a $85 difference, i'm starting to think it's not worth it. I like that the 7600 is smaller, uses less power and is a bit faster, but can an overclocked gs be comparable to an overclocked 7600?
edit $85 difference for the...
You'll probably want to lap the Ninja because the base is pretty bad, also if you use the backing plate do not use the adhesive pad! It's like super glue, I had to use a butter knife to pry it off and even then not all of the pad came off the mobo.
I couldn't find it on google when specifically searchign for that, so I'm thinking about getting the asus a8n-e but if it comes with the older bios will it boot with the opteron correctly? Will I beable to install windows then flash it, or is there a way to put the files I need to flash it with...
Oh, I will overclock, I just meant that's not a huge priority if it's not going to be stable. Now I just need to figure out what motherboard to use, I don't think i'll be needing SLI so would an Asus A8N-e work good? I know Dfi overclocks higher, but Asus is generally more stable right?
You were right I finally found it online, the heatpipe cooler is on dual core procs. I ordered the Opty from Monarch :) Will probably go with a zalman cooler. I bought a Scythe Ninja and used it on a previous build that went bad, the freakin adhesive they put on the backing plate is soo damn...
I don't plan on doing heavy overclocking, just whatever I can on air andgood but cheap ram. If I get the Opteron I would have to spend another $30 or so for a cooler, would it really be worth it then? Oh, and I plan on using it with an Asus A8N-E if that matters.
I'm going to buy one of these within 30 mins or so, so which do you suggest? They both cost $130 on Monarch but the Athlon includes the hsf for the same price. I've been googling and all I can tell is that the athlon has half the cache. Also am I right to assume the cooler than comes with the...
