I started out looking for a 22 inch screen, almost bought a Samsung. Then found out they all use TN technology. Gave up and bought a 24 inch Dell 2407wfp-hc. Lots more money but I am very happy. Bought it on line, Dell Direct, even though I "never" buy displays without seeing them first...
It displays images in 3 dimensions, yep 3d. That means it has two identical LCD screens, a carefully positioned/designed mirror so each eye sees a different screen and its set up so multiple observers see the same separation and 3 dimensional image. My guess is that none of todays game systems...
I am very happy with my Dell 2407wfp-hc. Its an upgrade from a good CRT, I use it primarily for web surfing and editing, including photo editing. I think you would also be happy with one. But be advised, NO display is without some compromise. Each observer seems to have a different set of...
I own a Dell 2407wfp-hc and am very happy with it. My previous monitor was a 19" CRT.
But LCD monitors are much different than CRT's and you should read up a lot on those differences (this forum is a good reference) to see if they will effect you. The differences effect games one way...
Black text on white is very good, no color artifacts. I have also tried other colors (red, blue) on white, still good. This forum (white on black) looks great. My only complaint is black crush but I think I expected that.
I dont game so I cant comment on response times. But my mouse...
Already tried that first day I had one. Dell has removed useful panel information from the service menu. Instead there is a non-descript number (DR880) where the panel numbers used to be.
I am pretty sure its either PVA or MVA because it doesnt cost enough for IPS and its performance...
I did it on the 2407wfp-hc and I am able to convince myself that it is a little lighter on the left than the right. So I made a composite of the same image merged with a flipped version of itself. I can still believe the left is ever so slightly brighter than the right. Changing viewing...
Go to the on screen menu, select color settings, then select which color(s) you want to lower (RGB) . It helps if you have a calibration tool like the Spyder2 or eye one.

Crushed Blacks -
As colors get darker and darker they finally turn to black. This is easiest to see with a test pattern of shades of dark grey. If the darkest shade of grey looks like black, and the next darkest, looks black, etc. you have crushed blacks (or crushed grays). The term comes...
Let me see, we cant tell what the panel technology is without opening it up. It performs like the Beng but it "smells like" a PVA. Maybe its an AUO, or maybe its a Samsung, probably not an LG. So I guess its anybodys guess. Why does it matter if the performance is acceptable and consistent...
I have used my 2407wfp-hc for about 10 days now. No dead/stuck pixels, very little backlight bleed, no audible "buzzing", etc.
Its been calibrated (via Spyder2) for 5 days. I cant comment on color shifts with viewing angle because glare from the lights and windows behind me create more...
Well, the 2407wfp-hc has definitely arrived. Its being sold on eBay for under $600 plus shipping. Total about $600 to $625. No mention of return policy. But the price wars have now notched up a bit.

The Dell tech guy is nuts. Dells problem with Benq (or any other vendor) is just that, their problem. Your problem with Dell is between you and Dell. Tell the tech guy that if Dell needs additional tech help they can hire it. In the meantime, you want a panel that is right.
But lets say...
And then there is the need for a larger video card. And then you have a larger screen but what will fill it?
In my case I bought an articulating arm (eBay, $20.00) and can put my 2407HC right against my nose or back to arms length. The resolution is at the max of my ATI video card. I can...
Same here. Mine came last Monday. Made in Mexico. It was great right out of the box. I didnt think it needed any calibration but bought a Spyder2 anyway. According to Spyder2 the Dell was a little (very little) red and the lowest blacks are crushed. But its still very good, great as it is...
Mine arrived Monday, July 9. I am very happy. Here is a summary so far:
1. The service menu does not identify panel type. There are two numbers which I can not identify V1B07 and DR880 in the top header. There is a part number DELL 2407WFP-HC. Everything else is set up data like...
I think either one would be a good choice. If one makes you 99% happy and the other makes you 98% happy then it doesnt matter which you choose. I chose the Dell and am very happy but I dont game. I would do it again. The HC was important to me because I do photo editing.
After reading...
I ordered mine on line, no rep to talk with. I have learned to prefer it that way if possible because the reps usually make more mistakes, lol.
As Heatpipe says, the part number you want is 320-5647. Call them back and verify they have it right. Or, if you have an on line account, log in...
I bought my Dell 2407WFP-HC from a company named, uh, Dell. On line, last week. I also bought the extra warranty (5 years total, return shipping, etc) with the expectation I might want to refuse it if there were problems. It arrived in 7 days (four business days), has no stuck pixels that I...
I will try to post a picture of the service menu from mine later today, much later. But I dont think its going toi tell you much. They have removed everything except the part number DELL 2407WFP-HC and two number codes at the top, a white one V1B07 and a yellow one DR880. Everything else is...
I did access the service menu. It does not show panel numbers. I think the manufacturers are trying to hide this infromation after the Samsung 226bw fiasco. Seems their goal is to create confusion instead of product discrimination. Shame on them.
I would be happy to provide information or...
I would be happy to post this information but I cannot find it. I went into the service menu and found no mention of panel numbers. Can you direct me to information on how to find panel make/model in the service menu?

The ones I saw dissipated less power. Remember, to get uniform brightness from ccfl you need a difuser and probably light from the sides. With LED you can spread the light across the panel so you dont waste as much smoothing it out. Also, LED light generation is very efficient (probably...
I suspect you will get few answers to your question because there arent many people who have detailed experience with LED backlit panels. I have never seen a commercial one but have some experience with industrial LED backlighting. I can surmise a few answers to your questions but a complete...
The US site for Dell advertises the hc version for $10.00 more than the standard. I am thinking Dell has made a marketing decision to stay ahead of the pack via price. Hope their quality stays in control and they dont resort to some form of "panel lottery".
btw, my 2407wfp-hc took 7 days...
I ordered a 2407wfp-hc from Dell on Monday July 2, it arrived here on Monday July 9. So far I am very happy with it. It was manufactured in Mexico. I cannot tell what type of panel it has but the viewing angle is good for both vertical and horizontal (its not a TN). Blacks are great so I am...
I will try to post my calibration values when I have them but it will be next week at least. Also, panel variations may make my panel values unsuitable for your panel. But it is something to try.

My panel was manufactured in Mexico. It was delivered yesterday, Monday July 9. I did purchase the extra three years warranty because it included returns. Maybe that means they were extra careful.
I would keep after them to get one right. The techs answer that "the next one will be just...
I just got the 2407wfp-hc today. Its up an running and I am very pleased. But I am not a gamer and I havent had enough time with it to determine if DVD's are "grainy, etc. I have a Spyder on order and will post more detail after I have more data.

My panel came today and I am still evaluating it. But I can report that the panel is square with the bezel. No alighment problems at all. Also, it looks like no dead or stuck pixels. I am pretty happy right now. Will perform more thorough examination later and report back in another thread...
I just got my new 2407wfp-hc set up and started browsing this site. I don't know what panel they are using but the colors are too stable across all viewing angles for it to be TN. My guess is its the same s-pva but with a better backlight. I have to guess because I am not taking this thing...
I dont think this should be happening but slight tolerance issues are common in display products. I would consider asking for repair/replacement. Are you happy with the rest of the performance? I have one on order and will post back when it arrives.
Check to see that the bezel is truly a...
