Hello, I have the Canon Elph 300 digital camera and I want to use my computer monitor as a live display so I can easily preview self portraits, etc
Is there a software that will allow me to use the mini-USB to computer USB cable (that comes with my digital camera) so I can use the camera like...
Ok, so here's the story:
1) I have owned my EVGA 8800GT for 2 years
2) 2 weeks ago, I wake up and turn on my computer to find my video card stopped working. I get these weird spelling errors when I go into BIOS and the res is 640 x 480 in 16 bit color
3) Got a 250GTS from the office and it...
I bought the Windows 7 Student Upgraded and upgraded my Windows XP Pro
But what if my hard drive were to die. I installed the Windows XP Pro about 5 years ago and have long lost the original CD. My hard drive is really old as well and I fear it might die soon.
When I buy a brand new hard...
Whenever my computer restarts, my monitor (46" 1080p Sceptre TV w/ DVI to HDMI converter) loses its signal to the computer.
I would need to
1) Shut down computer
2) Take out video card (8800GT)
3) Re-insert again
4) Boot up computer
And it works fine.
This is getting reaaaaaaaally...
I just moved to a new apartment and bought the PS3 slim -- yet, I don't even have a monitor yet!
So this new monitor purchase will be for serious gaming as well as hardcore computer/internet use with my laptop
So which is the better option? (And it doesn't have to be a 32" TV. It can be around...
I apologize for this generic post but........
What's the best 30" - 50" 1080p TV/Monitor for gaming/internet use for around $600 - $800
Basically, it'll be my main monitor for my new PS3 slim (woot!) and my computer
Thank you! :D
I got a job offer and I would need to fly out there (Chicago to Texas)
I have a mid tower and was wondering what is the best way to transport that bad boy over there?
1)
I heard bad things about airport luggage and how they handle your suitcases. And is carry-on for a mid-tower even...
I want to use a 50"+ LCD monitor or TV as my main computer monitor for web browsing, Photoshop, movies, and some gaming
I was wondering...since the 50"+ monitors are most likely 1080p (1920x1080) and the much smaller 24" monitors are also the same pixel count...won't the 50"+ monitors look...
And what is your reasoning
For me, I love tool-less. Convenient, fast, and makes you more more likely to upgrade.
The only con I can see is that it's more likely for people to steal your parts but that's pretty unlikely to start with.
I transported my monitor from Ohio to Chicago in my car and when I turned it on, I found out this hairline of dead pixels has appeared!
Is this fixable? How did this happen? I taped a piece of cardboard over the front to prevent such a thing!
Is the only advantage of 2.1 is its convenience in setup and transport?
What other advantages does 2.1 have over 5.1 (besides being cheaper) or is 5.1 the way to go?
Thanks
What's the best software to copy my entire OS (currently Win 7 RC) and back it up on my external hard drive?
And let's say it was Vista, would I need to re-activate it? If not, then what's stopping people from making copies upon copies on different hard drives and giving away free OS's?
Thanks
What's the best method?
Buy one of those adhesives? I personally can't trust them. The thief can just grab the computer and use its weight to swing free from the adhesive.
I go pretty DIY. A thick bike chain through the expansion slots, secured with a master lock, anchored to my computer desk...

Yes, I know there are cheaper 24" but geez! Can I get an explanation for this crazy price difference...
I received a used computer and I set it up at my house...but it won't boot so I take out one memory stick and it runs great
I leave the memory out and take the PC to college for 1 year. Works great the entire time.
I graduate from college and bring the PC back home and plug it back to my...
My iMac wouldn't boot. It will freeze at the Apple logo, then turn into a flashing folder, then a cancel sign.
It won't boot from CD as well.
And going into single user mode gives me kernel errors.
SO...I decided to take the hard drive out and either replace it or reformat it (it was a scary...
I just moved back home from college and I set up my computers in the basement in a room that was NEVER used since the house was built in 1997
Now, could this 10+ years of no use cause the electricity to behave weird? Because I've had some computer issues that hasn't been present when I was in...
Ok, I have the latest 24" iMac 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and I want to know if its CPU processing speed is faster than my Q6600 2.40 GHz Quad Core
(let's just say all the other specs are the same)
What's the formula for figuring this out? Teach me to fish and not hand me a fish! :D
Ok, I really need a fix to this problem or else I can't get any work done for my clients (I'm an illustrator) I've been battling with this problem for 2 straight days
I will gladly pay the person with the solution, $10 via PayPal. No joke
Here's my situation: :(

Hey, I'm moving back home and my desktop will be far from the main internet router. I was wondering if I should buy a desktop wireless card or a 100ft Cat5e Ethernet cable
1)
Is there a noticeable speed difference between wireless and wired?
2)
Ideally, a wireless card is the better choice...
Is there a place to buy empty retail boxes for Apple products?
I'm especially interested in a 24" iMac box because I want to sell mine on eBay.
The retail box would make the shipping/packaging much safer and having a box helps the resale value.
I looked on eBay and they only had 20"...
I have a USB hub that won't even power my 2.5 ext HDD and if it has too many devices plugged in, it just won't work.
Would buying a USB hub w/ a power cable like this Rosewill fix this problem? (any other recommendations?)
And, wouldn't data tansfer be a little slower using a USB hub as...
I keep hearing you need Quadro or FireGL to really take advantage of 3D programs like Maya, etc. But is it really worth it?
Will this suffice? (this was recommended)
ATI Radeon 4870
Any other suggestions for around that price?
It's for my friend (3D modeler, After Effects, and semi-gamer)...
Hey everyone
I'm helping my friend build a new computer and he's a 3D animator. I'm only use to building systems for 2D artists like myself (Photoshop)
To answer the default [H] questions...
It will be for 3D modeling (Maya), video editing and After-effects. Plus gaming :D

Budget is around $1000 - $1200 (w/out monitor)
We live in the United States...
Which option would give better performance for someone that does 3D modeling / video editing?
And what video card(s) do you guys recommend?
My budget is around...$300 and I expect to be using dual 24" monitors
Thanks!
Is the Core i7 worth it in terms of price/performance for a 3D modeling / video editing artist?
I'm creating a new system and I'm debating on whether to go Q6600 or i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz (and I won't OC)
I mean, with i7, your budget skyrockets because you need DDR3 memory...which is a...
I bought an external hard drive which didn't come with a power cord so I bought one on eBay. It's a 4 pin AC adapter cable.
I plugged it in and I heard a low buzzing noise and the hard drive didn't show up on my computer.
I took the external hard drive case off and plugged the 4...
I built a computer for my friend with a 9800 GT + Core i7 2.66
My own computer is a 8800 GT + Quad Q6600
But for some reason, my Vista Experience Index Grade under gaming graphics is higher than his! I'm at 5.9 and he's at 5.5...
Any explanation for this?
Thanks! :D

My friend is looking for a nice stable laptop mainly just to play movies, listen to music, download stuff...haha, very generic!
But it shouldn't be such a cheap bare-bone model. He wants it fast too.
And a stylish sleek look also matters to him
Any recommendations?

Whats the most badass home desktop system setup you can create (not for some military, NASA stuff..haha)
I'm thinking:
All of your hard drives are Solid State Drives and in RAID
Video cards in SLI
Liquid Cooling
What other "elite" setups are there? :D
External hard drives last much longer if there's an internal fan but companies do not include a fan because it's too noisy! What gives?!
I'm looking for a SOLID & STABLE hard drive (about 500GB) for backing up data. I'm a digital artist and my files are my life :D

It's a Toshiba G55-802 (quad core 2.0) vs HP hdx 18 (dual core 2.8 )

Which would be better for Photoshop?

Which would be better for 3D application/rendering like Maya?

Thanks!
I was compressing a folder full of vacation photo's that came up to be about 70 MB
I compressed it in ZIP format as FASTEST and got the completed ZIP file down to around 60 MB.
Now my question is...does this FASTEST compression damage the files? I don't think it does because when I...
