I'm not scared of them. I went the water cooling route a few years ago. They're just more expensive and sometimes not worth the hassle. I'll have to think about it for a bit.
Good catch, I didn't notice that the case came with the fans. I'll take a look at the other video cards. Actually, not getting the slipstream fans saves me like $30 so I'll upgrade to a 6850. Is there a HSF that's all the rage today?
1) What will you be doing with this PC? Gaming? Photoshop? Web browsing? etc
Mostly web browsing. I will want to play Diablo 3 whenever that comes out though. I'm in IT, so I'll tinker with things, but I also have an ESX box at home for most of that.
2) What's your budget? Are tax and shipping...
How is it even possible to screw up putting screws in? Is there another assembler you would recommend? If it's going to cost me more than $100 to have it built, I'd rather do it myself.
My old desktop finally bit the dust and I guess it's time to move on. I've been out of the desktop space for years now so I'm a little unfamiliar with whats out there right now. I'm actually going to buy a built PC (I know *gasp*).
I do basic web surfing, but I will want to play Diablo 3 when...
I'm sure there are a ton of books out there on this subject, he's not the only one out there like this. You might also want to take a look at local community colleges or adult education places. They usually have quite a few courses. A CC course would be cheap, a few hundred bucks at most and...
but with US channels? TVU has a few channels, CBS, ABC, Sci-Fi, CSPAN, but thats about it. All I really want are the cable news channels but I can't seem to find anything that offers them. It can be for Windows or Linux. Anyone know of something like that?
I'm looking for a laptop, I'm not really looking to game with it although a halfway decent video card would be nice. I think I've narrowed it down to the HP dv4t (9200) and the Dell XPS M1330 (8400). Any comments?
I don't need another monitor, I figured if it was an easy project it might be nice to have another smaller LCD around, but its not sounding like its so easy
I have an old junk laptop that wont turn on anymore but the screen still works. How tough would the laptop screen apart and use it as a monitor? I'm guessing there are just a few wires that correspond to a VGA plug? Could I just get a ac/dc converter from radio shack to power it?
The school I go to, Rochester Institute of Technology, has a Networking and Systems Administration major...you might want to look into some other schools if you're specifically looking for an administration degree.
As far as math goes, I only had to take discrete 1 and 2
I can't give a recommendation on equipment, you might want to give Cisco a call. As for connecting the antenna to the AP you just need to get an AP that supports an external antenna and get the correct cable to go between the two. The antenna will have an N connector of some sort and then you...
hmm I would assume fog would have some impact on data rates but I have no idea on how drastic it would be. If you don't need gigabit + bandwidth I'd say stick with 802.11, the last time I check point to point fiber was pretty expensive.
I know you said that theres concrete between the...
The router logs would be your best bet. All the tools people are recommending will only work if that host is on the network at the time you scan. The router logs will tell you who is on the network and who has been on the network.
Then if you want more information you could always use...
I don't know what your requirements are but you might also want to look into point to point wireless fiber if you need more bandwidth than 802.11 will provide
I've been messing around with honeyd the past few days and I noticed on the site it says that it comes with a built in webserver for statistics but not a whole lot more. Any idea on how to get to the webserver? I thought it would set everything up itself. Is there any configuration thats needed?
My little cousin's computer died a few weeks ago. You'd go to hit the power button and nothing would happen. I figured out the motherboard blew. I replaced the motherboard for him and the PC was good for two weeks.
I just got a call from my uncle saying its doing the same thing it was doing...
I have an MSI K8n Neo2. What can I get as a replacement? The only reason I ask is because I'm not so sure how another heatsink will attach to the northbridge. There are two little spring loaded posts on either side of the heatsink I have now but the few replacements from thermaltake and...
*I also noticed it doesn't like my other SATA drive. So far I haven't been able to get the missing operating system or NTLDR with the other drive unplugged, its still uber slow though*
I just reformatted my computer because my game performance was very low for my system and I couldn't figure...
I just bought XP from my school and it came with x64 as well. All of my components have x64 drivers so thats not a problem. I just reformatted 5min ago. Do I want to do it again and install x64? Sorry if this topic has been brought up a bunch
Its AGP card. I updated the drivers for nForce, its an MSI K8N Neo 2 Platnium. I also updated the video card drivers. Any thing else I'm overlooking? I've been running this install of windows for awhile I'm tempted to reformat but I dont know how much that would help of if I really feel like...
its an 1800 Athlon...wonderind what I should do with it, any ideas? I already have my other old one hooked up to the house stereo so thats out of the question. It just feels like a waste sitting here and I cant think of anything to do with it : /
