So I have that same gateway and have been inside it a few times. Heres a few tips:
If you take off the hsf be careful the tiny screws they used to hold it on are pretty soft and on mine at least they used a threadlocker on them. I have one screw that started to strip out when I tried to get...
So I did the same I stopped in and played with a pre for about 20 minutes. And actually I don't think the keyboard is that bad. I have the ultimate sausage fingers (ring finger is size 14) and after about 5 minutes I was able to type on the pre with very few mistakes. Its definitely a different...
I read the white paper it actually states that all the client data is not stored in ram.
"Neither the client nor the chunkserver caches file data.
Client caches offer little benefit because most applications
stream through huge files or have working sets too large
to be cached. Not having...
Logitech makes one but you'd have to be sure that your phone supports a keyboard bluetooth profile. http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/keyboards/keyboard/devices/3848&cl=us,en
Im running a 965 and (for now) 6gb of ram and I am soo impressed with this machine. I mainly use it for photoshop and lightroom and it is so fast its not even funny.
I was doing the opposite, I had an imac at home for photo work and a few other things but my laptop was a pc for mobile gaming.. not much of a laptop though more of a desktop replacement.
Well heat dosn't directly relate to the number of transistors or the process size. The design of the transistors and how fast they are switching has a lot more to do with it. CSI takes more power to run the fsb did which is one contribution. Also the additional circuitry for ht adds some.
But...
I have to go with the gateway mentioned earlier, I have one of those also and for the 1050 I paid for it it was the best value for the money for gaming. It is huge for a laptop but it is a fantastic machine. I have the previous revision and I replaced the 1.8 ghz cpu with a 2.5 penryn for 300 so...
At least at my school almost all the computer science classes were built around unix or linux environments and used tools like GCC. if yours is the same that makes os x better then windows as it has a native GCC compiler. But as was mentioned, Macs can run other os's either through bootcamp or...
Also if you leave your rig on all the time, the laptop at idle will consume way less then the desktop under most conditions. The laptops have much better power management capabilities then the desktops.
To be honest considering how much hardware you have swapped out that really sounds like a marginal power supply to me. Power supply issues can manifest in all sorts of ways. But it causes weird system issues when things are drawing more power like formatting a drive or doing rendering.
Basicly what they are getting at is you can't just buy pc parts and load osx on it. That is what hackintosh referes to and is disallowed here because it violates the eula for osx. So to get a mac you pretty much have to buy a mac. Now if you want to have some hands on experiance with it, the...
I have 2 1 year old kittens and I just grab their paws as they start to step on it and they seem to get the idea. also it seems the cursor isn't as interesting anymore. It took me a few months to get to this point though I had to be consistant and very persistant.
Also I think if you put a...
I put a t9300 in mine. the extra cache hides the memory latency so you do see improvements in video performance becasue of it. I don't remember my scores but I saw a 3dmark06 improvment and my vista score went to 5.1 from 4.6. So the 6mb of cache helps with anything memory related so it'll boost...
we're having lots of problems with the t60s and 61s at work as well, they are no where near the quality of the 42p's they are replacing. Lenovo has definitely reduced the quality now that IBM isn't calling the shots.
Its hard to say, so most 13" screens are pretty low res so you won't strain your eyes any more then on a 15 but where you get into trouble is you can put much less on the screen at the same time. So its really your prefrence. If you can manage with not seeing as much of your code at a time then...
I have the e2cs and used them for about a year then the insulation on the left earbud started to fray. They still work but they arn't comfotable to wear any more with the damage. I replaced them with the ettys er6 but I like the shure better just whish mine didn't start breaking.
accualy I just bought it 2 days ago, so far I like it, the analog cable tuner is pretty grainy but thats to be expected. I Had it hooked up to my digital cable for a bit and it looked good on the hi-def content. I had it configured as a computer monitor for a while and it looked fantastic but I...
Don't they have like 8 ram slots? Just saying that going for the 1gb sticks might not be as usefull as it is on some systems unless you are going for 8gb of ram in the future.
Just something to think about.

So I was looking for something simmular not too long ago... and what I found was it was only slightly more expensive to buy a second 20" lcd, keyboard/mouse then get the kvm so thats what I did. Not saying the kvm isn't a good idea just something to think about. It seems all the dvi ones start...
Thats accualy ony true for some pc video setups. For most on board video its up to the board manufacture to decide how and where an intergrated video card gets its ram, either from main memory or from dedicated onboard memory. Though the later happens much less frequently anymore.
Looks about right here is a good link for finding information on old macs
http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/ibook/stats/ibook.html
As far as what to do about it, linux may be a good option. Its going to be quite a slow machine I mean it looks to be allmost 7 years old not going to be...
I just ran it on my intelimac (20") with the 256mb x1600 and 1gb ram, I was getting 18fps in turntable and about 2.3fps draging. It was using about 45% of the cpu. This is all on the builtin monitor
Hope this helps
Ok here it is, my brand new 20" Intel Imac with the 256mb Vram upgrade and 1gb of ram:
The 20" adc is hooked up to my pc right now eventualy once I am less dependent on my pc for stuff I'll probably move it to be my second dispaly for the Imac
you raise a good point, if you have multiple sizes of monitors streaching one window accross them will be wierd. So if you indend to make your windwos span both monitors then yes it will be strange. But if you want to have two windows open that you can see at the same time then it should be fine.
I don't think it would be too weird, and as far as I can remember dual displays in osX works about the same as in windows. For a time I was running 4 diffrent sized monitors on my windows box and it wasn't a problem so I dont' see why widescreen would make a diffrence. Now I run one 20.1"...
desk isn't big enough for the right one to stand up and clear the monitor, so I put it on its side , even though its still haning off the desk it's much more stable. The left is like that just for symetry. I just installed them today so I'll probably play with it some.
/edit I really failed...
the cpus are most likely solderd on due to one of 3 issues I can think of:
Cost : Sockets are accualy very expensive
Space: Sockets take more room then soldering the cpu on directly
Reliability: Sockets are less reliable then a solder connection and could be effected more easily by...
I don't know if you are up to it but the first keyboard I moded I just spayed the whole thing keys and all, if you can touch type then it works well and its fun to laugh at those who can't when they try to use your computer ;-P
Accualy people have lost their job for selling these parts, There was one guy that accidentialy sold a part to an intel representitive, that didn't end well.
you got me there, I don't know crap about cows except that they are tasty ;-) anyway I modified the color to be more in line with the pic you provided.
