The backplate is supposed to actually touch the case, thats why they put it there. It's supposed to dissipate the heat into the case. If it's causing a ground issue, that's really messed up.

I have heard that the onboard LAN adapter causes a conflict with the board. Try disabling it and see what happens.

According to a Tom's Hardware review from March, the 680i chipset seems to bottleneck RAID 0 performance at 110MB/s. Does anybody know if this is still true today? It seems the Intel ICH7/8 blow the 680i out of the water when it comes to RAID 0 performance.
