I was debating on the 2 situations:
2x2 gb ddr3 cl7 of 1600 ram
vs
2x4 gb ddr3 cl9 of 1333 ram
Which would be best for the SB and why? If it matters, I plan on doing a lot of video encoding.
Background:
I have a E6400 2.13 ghz duocore. 2 gigs ram. win 7. Geforce 210 vid card.
I have ripped to hd using anydvdhd. Then using ripbot, 2 pass. The first pass is saying that it will take 18 hours. and the FPS at the bottom of the ripbot screen is showing 2.XX FPS. I didn't go through...
I have a backup copy of a movie on my harddrive as a M2TS file which is roughly 25 gb (movie only). Is there any way to compress this file to make it smaller without losing video/audio quality?
I have a 1080p version of a movie, it is in the harddrive, so I'm not streaming. It gets choppy, stutters, pauses, all sorts of bad stuff. I have a e6400 core2duo, with an ati x800xl. I have also tried it in a similar system with a geforce 210...

BDROM speed is 4x. Does going with a higher speed affect how long it takes to rip?
Is 4x pretty typical of what most users are using right now?
Thanks
I have a spare Core2Duo E6400 (2.13ghz) and 2 gb ram and would like to build a budget HTPC. I already have a mobo without integrated graphics.
I want to eventually be able to play 1080p videos from my computer to tv with a direct HDMI connection.
Can I simply get any graphics card that has...

I try to play a bluray video, it initially starts, but if i try to fast foward it a couple of mins my media player crashes. is this a software or hardware issue?
I have an old NVIDIA 6800 OC card with 128mb memory (AGP). I dont play very intense games so I dont need to 'upgrade'. But my mobo just died and I cant find a AGP mobo anymore that is decent.

Anyone remember when DDR2 was this expensive :D
Was just looking through some newegg invoices and thought about how much prices for DDR2 have dropped since then. This invoice was July of 07 I believe. I cant believe I spent that much for ram!
Trying to get the most bang for the buck quad core processor and tigerdirect has the AMD phenom II 940 with 4gb ram for $220 right now.
I was looking at the Q9400 priced at $230 at newegg but its rated at a slower speed (2.66ghz vs the AMD rated at 3.0ghz). Should I go with the Phenom...

Im completely new to SCSI, please bear with me. A coworker was giving away 2 SCSI, seagates, each 33 gb each i believe (i left them at work) and it was either 10k or 15k rpm.

Which would perform better?
1 stick of ddr2 800 mhz (1 GB total)
or 2 sticks of ddr2 533mhz in dual channel (2 GB total)
both are about the same price so i was wondering if a higher speed is better than more gb ram?
does anyone know the general cause of a computer that keeps rebooting itslef. im pointing towards some overheating issues b/c it does it only when i play games for a few minutes.
does it matter how much voltage is given to these cpus? cause at 1.425V the temps are still low. idling is 45C and dual core priming is 54-57C both in Core Temp. or basically can i just up the voltage until it reaches a threshold on temp?
the program is not detecting my dvdrw drive and i have already dled all newest firmwware. i can play movies fine on the drive but am having problems backing up my dvds that i have already ripped from my harddrive since STOMP will not detect the dvddrive in the STOMP program for some reason.
Ive seen a lot of threads concerning temperatures and 'what should my temperature be at'
threads. Lets see if we can just get users to post there temperatures and whether it is oc or not and cooling.
