Checked out that unit, and reviews are so-so. Looks like just raw file transfer speeds are kind of lacking. http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/nas/nas-reviews/31762-iomega-storcenter-ix2-dl-network-storage-reviewed?showall=&start=2
I'm looking for a NAS solution that will support 2 drives and just serves files.
I currently have one home PC and one media PC (Intel NUC) on my home network. I use the NUC as an HTPC, so I don't really need anything that does trans-coding.
All I want is just a common place to store my files...
Initially I set out to build a nice mostly silent HTPC system that I could also use as a miniserver for web-development. I was looking to go with the smallest case I could find and something that just sipped power, but yet, be powerful enough to stream HD content to my TV.
I had a pretty...
New build:
Proc: i7 3770K (thinking of OC to 4.2~4.4)
Case: Silverstone TJ08-E
Heatsinks:
Tuniq Tower 120 Extreme
or
Corsair H80
The Tuniq would be cheaper, and I like the idea of less moving parts, but I'm not sure if it would be enough to keep the 3770K overclocked to 4.2-4.4GHz...
Building a new Ivy Bridge rig and I'm torn on what to do w/ my case situation.
I already own a pc-a05b and I love it. My new build consists of a Micro-ATX mobo, so I don't need a full ATX case anymore and my build is pretty minimal.
I was wondering if the airflow/ergonimics of the V354...
I looked this up, Soyo reports having a 6ms gtg response time while the Korean monitors also say about 6ms gtg. I couldn't find any info about input lag on the Korean ones, but I know the Soyo is pretty good in that category.
Anyone wanna add 2 cents?
I'm still rocking the old Topaz S (It flickers every once and while due to the power supply prolly going bad, but I've found if I smack it hard enough, it'll stop -- SCIENCE)
And I'm thinking about jumping on one of the cheap Korean 27" IPS displays being talked about.
Question is, I've...
I guess it just sucks that they automatically made it a "refund" when I would have MUCH preferred to wait until one comes back into stock versus buying a 280 dollar XFX now... :(
So I jumped on a sapphire 6870 from newegg couple of weeks ago for 239.99 and was pretty happy I got one before they went out of stock.
Took the card home and it was clearly defective with strange green sparkling artifacting (tried driver/os alternatives). The card was bunk.
So Newegg...
Started up bad company 2 again and played for about 20 min and never saw any artifacts? ... Could it be gone???
Just started furmark again, and actually saw a few of the green sparkles, but not nearly as much....
Wait, as im typing this, i see green sparkles all around this window. Green...
So, I rebooted my machine and noticed no sparkling on the window borders when windows loaded. Thinking the card might still be too "cool" to artifact, I've got furmark running again, and initially I see no green sparkles, I'm confused... I'm going to let it keep running and see if they come...
Just installed my new Sapphire 6870 and played some left for dead 2 and it ran flawlessly. I then booted up Battlefield Bad Company 2 and again I was seeing amazing framerates (compared to my old 8800GT)
But then, I started looking a little bit more closer to some darker areas within the game...
I've got somewhat of an 'outdated' system.
Currently running a Core 2 Duo E6750 (2.66GHZ) P45 chipset board.
I just bought a 6870 (hasn't come yet), and I'm wondering if I just spent way more money than I should have on a video card, when/if my CPU is going to be limiting it like crazy...
My parents computer finally barfed out on them and now they are interested in buying a new one. Their old computer was ~4 to 5 year old HP $600 cheap bought from BestBuy.
Here is what I'm looking for:
Cost: Around ~$500-600 for just the desktop
Reliability: I wanna get something bullet...
All you need is: http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp
500W, depending on the rest of your system is probably overkill if you arn't doing SLI
I've got a 450W running a 8800GT, two SATA HDDs and a decently overclocked E6750 and I've got room to spare.
I did a bunch of...
I just picked one of these up yesterday and OMG this is a beautiful monitor.
I was in the same situation as I'm sure a lot of you are in. I was looking for THE PERFECT 24" LCD.
Truth is guys, it hasn't been made yet!
The Dell was the closest thing, but the ghosting issue still has not...
Just saw this on Engadget:

I've been searching through these forums and other for the past couple of months, and nothing has really perked my interest.
I really love the dot pitch of my old 19" Hyundai L90D+ of .294. It seemed to be the perfect pixel size and was easy on the eyes.
Now to the goal is to upgrade to...
Guys/Gals,
Quick question that I'm havin a hard time finding the answer for.
I got a laptop where I put into sleep mode often and I get sick of clicking on my user name each time I resume from sleep mode. I've already got tweakui setup to autologon, but that only works when I boot the...
Sorry for freaking out there guys. This questions has come up a lot in the past, I just needed to search for it. When I thought all my data was gone, I started not thinking straight.
I ended up using a program called "Partition Table Doctor"
Which isn't free, like most of the the windows...
I was doing a re-install of windows on my laptop. I also have an external usb connected harddrive on which I created a new i think ntfs (maybe fat32) partition. I copied all of my files over and rebooted by computer to install windows.
I deleted the partition on the local harddisk on my...
I was looking at getting a 7900gs, but with the 8600 coming out next month for almost same price. Don't you think that the price of the 7900gs will just plunge due to the fact that the 8600 will be so much faster?
All,
I've had my eye on getting a 24" LCD for quite sometime, and in about 3-4 months, I'll have enough cash to actually get one.
I've read all of the reviews on all the 24's out right now, and I'm not overwhelmingly impressed with anyone in particular or the prices.
Is there going to...
I'm in the market for a video card that I plan on selling in a few months. The goal is to loose as little money as possible through this transaction.
I would like to try and find something in the 75-200 dollar range, (i know its a large range, but again, I'm not going for all out...
Just got off the phone with the credit card company (chase) and the process of filling a chargeback was effortless!
The guy on the phone stated that, "it is the merchants responsibility to get product to the customer" and promptly credited my account for the full purchase price.
So I'm...
ZipZoomFly was having a pretty good deal on a connect3d X1900GT card for 124.99 after rebate.
I jumped all over this deal and ordered one over the weekend. I got two day shipping because I really wanted to play with this thing, and for only 3 bucks extra, why not?
The shipping method was...
and yes I have the HD set to master or single
also tried it as slave for kicks... still no go
Also, if the drive is plugged in, windows freezes while shutting down and starting up.
Tried this both in xp and vista
On a recent trip to china, I thought I'd pick up a 2.5" external HDD enclosure USB 2.0 for an extra harddrive I had lying around.
It appeared to be new from the package, but when I plugged the thing into my laptop with my HDD inside, I got no new harddrive that showed up under my computer...
cost a lot more?
check out the x1900GT from ZZF - http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=327110
124.99 AR - Just bought one a couple of days ago. Now THAT is the best bang for your buck in the low 100s range.
Ok, further googling's I found a guy running a geforce 6800 gt in his gx620 with no problems,
Sounds good except for the fact that that my card would use another 15-20watts ontop of the 6800gt.
and THEN, it occured to me. Dell makes a couple different versions of the gx620, all of them...
I totally didn't even realize that the video card will come with a 4pin molex to 6pin pci-e connector.
I ran the system on the above calculator, and it told me adding the card will increase the powerdraw by 32Watts.
How close does dell usually cut it with they selection of power supplies?
