I've been a frequent rebate user (~10 per year) for years. I always fotocopy all the required materials and stick them in a folder just to be safe, and I try to get the stuff in the mail ASAP so that I won't forget.
Lately I've been noticing a new tactic on the part of companies. In past...
just wanted to put a good word in for Monarch, before the haters take aim... I've bought half dozen motherboard/cpu/ram combos from there, and sundry other parts... they're have always been nice on the phone (american, native english speaking tech... yea!!!) and I have always got the right...
Good idea... I have Abobe Premiere Elements 2, Nero 7, Intervideo Suite, VirtualDub, TMPEG, and FLASKMPEG. Give me a good recipe and I'll try it. VirtualDub is the only program that I'm good with, it does exactly what I want, but I can't output MPEG-2... which means encoding at the time of...
Hi... hopefully someone here can help me out.
Older 4:3 aspect ratio TV shows are often broacast with vertical black (or grey) bars to the left and right on 720p or 1080i (widescreen) channels. If I record these shows using my ATI HDTV Wonder (and Multimedia Center), it records the black bars...
It DOES work with the 160Gb Seagate Hard drive deal. I just got one $110 - %10coupon + %6 tax - $30 rebate - $40 rebate = $35
That's 22 cents per Gigabyte...;-)
Thanks for the coupon. Where do these coupons come from??? Does anyone else have the urge to print out a bunch and start...
I'd get the corsair pc3200 c2pt from outpost... rock solid ram... I have experience with 6Gb of it in several computers... I'm not an overclocker, but I do run tight timings and I appreciate the absolute solidity of this ram for running mathematical calculations over periods of several days...
Personally... I would buy the 1Gb c2pt corsair ram at outpost.com for $159... check me on this, but I think its faster as well as cheaper.... I'm running 6 Gb of this c2pt ram in multiple machines doing round the clock grad school research and it is excellent
I wonder how this response applies to rebates. May great Black Friday deals are a combination of store and manufacturers rebates... often these rebates are good for 1 or 2 days only starting on Black Friday. If you buy they item ahead of time you won't get the rebate... usually retailers don't...
"They buy products, apply for rebates, return the purchases, then buy them back at returned-merchandise discounts."
How it this possible... many rebates require you to rip off the original UPC and send it in... then you can't return the item because it doesn't have a upc. At least that is my...
I disagree about the antec psu. It recieves good reviews from many hardware review sites on the web. While it might not be entirely gold plated, nasa engineered, and hand polished by little electron fairys, its certainly a good choice, and at $105, not a bad deal either.
Hey All,
Well, I've been lurking here and listening to you all:-) Thanks for the info. The last of the parts for my new computer arrived yesterday. Here's the specs...
AMD 64 3500+ (Socket 939)
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum Motherboard
4 GB Corsair XMS Ram (4x1Gb sticks)
Raid 0 pair of 36 Gb WD...
My GT is here too... man is this thing loud!!! I have 5 quiet panaflo case fans and an Antec Truepower 430 with 2 fans, plus the stock AMD cooler... it was quiet... I think my case went up 10 db with this thing, its all I can hear.
I ordered one up last night and it has been shipped this morning... thanks for the head's up pcx (#1). When am I going to loose this noob tag anyway??? Is it based on time of membership or posts???
I've looked at the dual opteron option and deemed it infeasible with my budget. For instance, 2 opteron 244's cost $600, a dual tyan 400mhz fsb board costs $400, 2Gb of registered ecc corsair ram costs $1100... right there you are already over my budget of 2 grand. Because my application...
I've got an Antec True Power 550W on order;-) And yes, I'm doing my homework on this one. Its the first computer that I've built at my new job... I don't want to ruin my rep:-)
This to #9 mr. steel chicken. The program that I'm running is Ansys... and though it supports multiple...
Why would occupying all 4 dimm slots cause 333Mhz??? In a recent article on Anandtech (see link below) they mention running all 4 dimm slots on the MSI motherboard, I'm guessing with 512Mb per slot, and only needing to change the command rate, not FSB speed...
I'm looking to build a new computer for school/research with 4 Gb of ram. I'm doing large finite element calculations and having this much ram would significantly cut down on solving time. Has anyone had any luck building a PC with this much ram???
I'm not talking about a server board, or...
GShady... the base of the monitor isn't exactly built like a tank, but I don't notice any wobble (movement) unless I'm really pushing on the monitor... perhaps there is a screw or something you could tighten?
Kriedel... hooking up to DVI does initially grey out some menu options... however...
Skivver... glad you like the SDM-HS94p... ain't it beautiful.
TrustNo1... this was my first LCD monitor purchase too... I like to play games on the computer, but need a monitor to be comfortable for desktop work, programming and internet surfing also... a monitor for me has to be good at...
The SDM-HS94P tilts forward and back about a pivit that is just above the circular base that the monitor rests on. To me the X-Brite coating makes the monitor look more vivid and beautiful than the anti-glare coatings other LCD's have. Sometimes its almost too bright even with the backlight...
"I just brought home a Samsung 712n from best buy, and i hook it up and the colors just look @#&*&$! up"
Opens mouth, inserts bar of soap, swishes all around...
Let's add the NEC/Mitsubishi RDT194S to our list of fast 19" monitors...
Has anyone else seen new fast 19" monitors that weren't mentioned in the first few posts of this thread?
I think its funny reading about cleartype now. I had tried out several other LCD's before buying my Sony SDM-HS94p and went through the whole cleartype ordeal... adjusting cleartype on Microsoft.com and agonizing over which tiny difference in setting made the text look better. It was kind of...
