hmm... would it make you all any more comfortable if i shared what i did last night...?
no, seriously though, at about midnight last night/this morning, my 510 Deluxe began billowing smoke. i don't know why it happened; all i'm running is:
200gb 7200rpm western digital hdd
120gb 7200rpm...
cheating!? but cheating takes all the fun out of the game...
...oh, wait. fun?
well, yeah, i beat the game without cheating once. there were some very imaginative parts in it that you probably wouldn't catch if you were cheating, so i'm glad i found them. on the whole, though, if i go...
you don't quite ever get around to talking about rails. that's a pretty brief discussion (though i don't know enough to write it myself) and it adds one of the most important factors in PSU evaluation.
other points: rated temperature and voltage regulation.
hmm... i might have to try this again, if it's working so well. 2 quick Q's:
1) is the thing heavy enough to crush the CPU if it (the case) were transported? i mean, would i have to remove the thing every time i wanted to travel? just your own opinions on this, to the 3 of you that have...
is that not a reservoir i see? are those not liquid-filled tubes. in fact, though i could be mistaken, that's a radiator and pump right there too. oh, it's a watercooling setup. where the heat transfers through a block into the liquid and out through that mostly-clear radiator.
sure it's a mod. not a very sophisticated mod, but it's sure not not running it stock. that's the distinction. (i.e. - you cut out the fan grills on a case; now it's modded. simple to do, takes like 5 mins with cutters, but it's a mod all the same).
call in, tell them it's time for a personal day. s'what i do on those occasional days when there's no other option. of course, not if they're going to fire you over it. s'not worth it in that casel where'll you get an income to keep buying hardware
Looks to me like it went from Illonois (sp?) to Tennessee (sp?) to Ohio. Definately not same-state shipping. That "FedEx Ramp" in Cleveland might be a major hub, though... ?
If you're talking CS, then it's better to stop for an instant and squeeze off a shot or two and keep going. In UT, just keep going. It depends per game, since in CS your accuracy is lowered as you move/jump, etc.
either one. if you want to move closer, then hold W; otherwise, don't. do it...
I ordered C&C: Renegade yesterday with 2-day delivery and it skipped overnight and showed up at my place this morning (like 12:00) while I was at work. I didn't think FedEx would deliver early like that. Well, this is really sweet, because I've wanted to play that game for so long (and I...
technicalities. for all intents and purposes, it's an ultra that's clocked lower (which can be fixed), has less cooling (which can be fixed), and didn't pass all the tests (which doesn't necessarily means it won't hit ultra speeds). i'd call it darned close enough, coming from a 5900xt user...
i read a thread in some random forum that it might be a problem with AGP drivers. perhaps there are new ones that need installing before they'll work right.
and the gf2 GTS as fast as the mx460? well, not in my experience, but then it could have been the placebo effect, as i wan't really...
you know what? it's weird that you mention that, because while i was putting together my brother's gf's computer last month, the same thing happened to me with the mx 460. when booting with generic drivers, it worked fine, but with the latest drivers it would go into standby just before/while...
hmm... this had better damn well not launch before the x800 xt platinum pci-e cards, 'cuz i'm going to be very angry at ATi if that's the case. for them to tout their "native pci-express" and then not release a single one (for their higher-end) and then plan and release a newer model of card...
That's awesome. Did you put mounting stuff into the desk to hold the parts, or did you build a desk around a case frame?
Edit: and "tempgauses" sounds like some uber-futuristic heating/cooling system based around magnetic polarity :)
i'm not so certain about that. the one time i can see that it would matter would be on boot. let me elaborate:
I had a cruddy 400W generic power supply which wasn't going to cut it for my new rig. I had no idea about PSU's (this was like 1 month ago), so I bought a 600W piece pf trash for...
well once you've gotten results, post them really big, right on this forum, and i'll base a good portion of my own decision from your own tesitomy, aight?
well excuse me valve, but i wouldn't be running a dx8.1 PCX 5900 if you're close friends ATi released some of their x800's for PCIe. You want to help them out, get them to do that for me.
And if it's a cheap one that's too weak for your system, it might die in a particularly splendid manner that wakes up the neighbors and takes out the rest of your computer with it!
Well, I'm using a PCX 5900, which is just a 5900 XT for PCI-Express. The card is not top-notch, but it's pretty good at what it does. I can play KotOR without freezes when I see enemies (though it does slow down a touch). Doom 3 runs pretty much fine for me, too.
2 things though that will...
well, i suggest you do that 5GB partition for the system. i do it myself (though i've never seen it advertised before). i'm not certain if there are any performance benefits, but one thing i can tell you is that it keeps your data safer. that is, if you OS gets corrupted, say from installing...
well, since you asked, though i hardly feel it's necessary.

and i do so enjoy being called a "great one"; it's about time someone recognized my true worth ;) :p

well, if you're looking down in the weapon script (pak000.pak\scripts\weapon_shotgun.script), you'll find a section for the firing:
void weapon_shotgun::Fire() {
float ammoClip;
if ( WEAPON_NETRELOAD ) {
WEAPON_NETRELOAD = false;
weaponState( "Reload", SHOTGUN_IDLE_TO_RELOAD )...
if it's in Ohio I could potentially make it :) i juest hosted one last saturday, btw. it rocked; we had like 16 people there at one point (which, considering our local population's aptitude for computers, is pretty damned good)!
I do buy a "top of the fucking line" video card and leave on the stock cooling, so obviously that can't be correct. It just logically can't be. In fact, the only reason why you do buy a "top of the fucking line" video card is so that you don't have to void the warranty (mod/overclock) to get...
It's a good question to ask for SLI purposes: are there 6800 Ultras with single-slot cooling solutions? Watercooling might be able to cut it, depending on the block, but I mean stock, air cooling solutions?
all right, let me ask this in a more straightforward manner:
Enermax 550W or Antec Neopower ?

The Newpower seems really...
hmm... yes, the GT beat the Pro, but isn't the GT nVidia's 16-pipe non-ultra card, while the Pro is ATi's 12-pipe card? wouldn't it be more fair to compare the XT and the GT, not the Pro and the GT? Eh, whatever.
