just check "use application settings" and select desired filter type. e.g. if you select Edge-detect, and set 4x AA in game, the card is actually applying 12x edge-detect sampling.

When was the last time you clean the 4850? you need to clean the heatsink periodically (like every 3 months or so). The factory heaksink gets clogged by dust pretty quickly.
