Can anyone tell me if the mounting kit of the AC Cuplex XT di will fit the standard Cuplex XT? It looks like it does, but looks can be deceiving.
I'm about to change my mobo and cpu to a 790FX and Black Ed 6400+ but don't want to retire my modded Cuplex XT. Rather than buy just a new mounting...
Having lived with my water cooled project parallel HEX for a little while now, I thought I would post some analysis to where the idea was originally born; here in the Water Cooling forum. I hope you find it interesting!
Everyone arranges their water cooling blocks in series, what would happen...
Guys, the paint finish of the ThermoChill PA120.2 in my case build is starting to annoy me. The matt black is dull and scratched in a few areas, and starting to detract from the look of the case.
I'm thinking of having it chrome coated while I finish the case and wondered if there was any...
Not really sure where to post this, but it's modding after all.
Am I right in thinking that it's okay to shorten an IDE cable?
I want to cut the end of my IDE cables that go to my DVD burners, so in effect each cable will only have the connection to the motherboard and 1 connection to a...
This is part of my case mod parallel HEX over in the worklogs forum. I thought I would post this here as it's still in the research stage and didn't want to clutter it with my ageing electronics knowledge! I'll post the result from this thread over to the worklog when the circuit has been built...
I was wondering how you folk test the coolant mix in your rigs. I measure and pre-mix before filling, but topping up now and then changes the original ratio. I wondered about how to test it periodically, and while in a motor hardware store I saw something that was bleedin' obvious...
Well I finally have water flowing through my parts, computer parts that is!
Id like to get your thoughts on my temperatures and if you think I should get another 2.120 radiator.
Firstly, those not familiar with my oddball water cooling circuit:
Note that the testing here is done...
I have obtained 6 AC waterblocks (4 different types) for my build parallel HEX (for those that havent seen it). Im not going to discuss the performance of these blocks, mainly because there isnt any water flowing through them just yet :( , and many would poo poo them anyway because of the...
I updated my worklog regarding the final design of my reservoir, and as always I'd like to share it with you folk to get your opinion on it.
The image below shows the old design; the top item is the Collector, the bottom item the manifold.
The problem was for the original design I...
I just ordered a "few" components from AC, but it was a royal PITA and I'm technically in Europe! It wasn't the language barrier that was the pain, it's the fact that they don't accept credit card or paypal payments - only cheque or money transfer to their bank (slooowww).
Aqua Computer, it's...
I've not been able to give my build parallel HEX the time it deserves lately due to work and other stuff, but now's the time!
I'll be placing my order for my AC components tonight, but I need a plan B if I screw up the modification to the cuplex XT to 3 ports like I originally suggested here...
I haven't seen anything like this posted before, but I could have missed it. Although this is really cpu related, I posted this in here as it's a more relevant audience.
While trying to narrow down the reason for certain games stuttering, I have found what I would call a flaw in 3DMark06...
I finally managed to borrow a thermal camera (Flir Systems Agema 570) and have been taking a few quick shots of the X1900XTX and X1900 Crossfire to see just how hot they get.
This is a little teaser for you before I can really sit down and get some meaningful images this weekend. Remember to...
I had installed a X1900XTX and a X1900 Crossfire card in my project build parallel HEX and ran into a bit of a problem.
When I really pushed the system hard and run a benchmark or play a game, a good few minutes in to it the system completely shut down. No warning, no artifacts, no slow down...
Futuremark have a teaser trailer on their website for 3DMark06, everyones favourite game ;)
Not much of it, but worth a look at what everyone will be seeing thousands of times over when overclocking in 2006!

I was going to fit a Cooler Master AquaTrident cpu cooler in my project parallel HEX, but after waiting over a month on a supplier to get me one, I've ran out of patience. I was happy to wait while I built the rest of the case, but now I'm ready to water cool, I need the components now. Nowhere...
I didn't want to jack the FW900 ebay thread...
I have built a new pc recently, and the only thing staying the same is my 4 year old FW900 Sony 24" CRT monitor.
I've jumped from a 9700Pro to a X1800XT vid card, and now my 2D desktop is kind of burry/fuzzy at 1920x1200, at any usable...
Intro:
It has come that time again to build another computer; my 3-year-old pc is showing its age in the latest games. Familiar story huh? This pc had to be a damn site quieter than my previous, and last me another 3 years in to the future. Well, perhaps not 3 years
Making a powerful...
Here's a diagram of my proposed water cooling set up for my new build, 'parallel HEX'.
The chosen water cooling hardware is:
GPU 1 & 2 --- AC Aquagratix
CPU ------------ Cooler Master AquaTrident
NB -------------- AC Twinplex Pro (if it will fit)
HD 1 & 2 ----- Cooler Master...
We all know that almost all X1800XT are born equal, and a quick bios flash can up the default core and memory speeds (with the leaked bios).
The X1800XT Crossfire Master's are available now, but I need to know the answer to these questions before I go ahead and get it:
1. Will a bios flash...
Not sure the equation works ;)
The components in more detail are:
DFI RDX200 Crossfire motherboard
Crucial Ballistix PC4000 2x1GB ram
AMD X2 4400 cpu
Sapphire X1800XT 512MB gpu
WD Raptor 74GB non-raid hard drive
Tagan TG580 580W psu
There are a few threads splintered around with...
Parts for my new pc build started to arrive today, including of which was a Tagan TG580-U15 (580W).
Shortly after taking the psu out of it's box I noticed a rattle. Sounded metallic too (not Ride The Lightning, hopefully not apt ;) ). I started to move the psu around to see if I could see...
My soon to be created wc rig will be running two MCP655 pumps, but I want to remotely control both pumps from the outside of the case, rather than the silly switch at the back of the pump.
Also, if it's possible, to have them both adjusted at the same time with one control rather than two...
A mixture of these questions I'm about to ask have been posted already, but not altogether to arrive at the ideal setup for me. So I have to ask...
Here's the remit:
- I have enough physical space for 2 SATA1 hard drives,
- the PC is used primarily for games performance, but will also be...
This is another 'help me choose a motherboard' thread, but please read on!
I've decided it's between:
DFI LanParty UT RDX200CF-DR (£149.64)
or
Sapphire PURE Crossfire Advantage (£84.99)
The graphic card choice is a Sapphire X1800XT (master later) and 2x1GB Crucial Ballistix RAM...
What's the best orientation for vertically fitting a motherboard? If you had the choice from either cpu and ram up top, gpu's bottom or gpu's up top and cpu and ram at the bottom. This is in regards to heat (forget about fans for a second as the cpu and gpu's will have waterblocks fitted and the...
I posted this question inside another thread, but it fell on deaf ears. So I'm asking the wider motherboard audience:
What would offer the best performance for games etc: running a motherboard with 2x 1GB at 1T and a clockspeed of around 200 (so DDR400?) versus the same ram but at 2T and a...
In the UK at least - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/X1800_Series.html
They say they have *another* large quantity of cards arriving 2nd November...whatd'ya mean *another*! Did I miss something?
The drawback is they are £469.94 each, Connect3D, non Crossfire version; that...
Help!
I'm at a turning point in my proposed parallel set up and have been given so many pointers as to how many pumps I'll need and where they should be in the circuit. I dunno  ! So I'm putting it to the vote!
How many pumps and where to place them?
I've drawn up 5 options...
Look at these puppies!
The mouse is included in the pic to give some scale.
The manifolds need a little fine sanding to make them more clear and purty, but I'm well happy with how they have turned out.
In case you are wondering what the hell they are for, against all that is...
Here's some food for thought and questions I've not seen an answer for..
Looking through various etailers who are advertising X1800XT's only seem to have the CF version of the XT in 256mb and not 512mb, but the non-CF is available in 512mb. So it begs the questions, albeit hypothetical:
1...
Sorry if this has been posted already, couldn't find it anywhere...
Check it out:
http://www.thermochill.com/pa1203.php
Personaly, I'm waiting for the PA120.2 as the one above is a bit large for my needs.
For my first WC installation, I'm looking at the Cooler Master series of waterblocks:
Cooler Master Stuff
Has anybody got any opinions or views on them? The ones I've found on the net are favourable, but for the northbridge cooler reviews are thin on the ground.
I'm looking at fitting...
Hello there!
I've been lurking around the forum for some time gleeming as much info as I can about water cooling and overclocking. I built my last machine (XP2200+, Soyo Dragon blah blah..) about 3 years ago and it's time for an update!
Since I want this machine to be as near damn quiet as...
