I can't really help you. I can say that I really do have the same monitor and no complaints. However, I can REALLY sympathize. You see, when I got the monitor, bought from NewEgg, and brought from the US to me by my sister (I live in Brazil), the XFX 6800 I had bought along with it worked for...
Is this with the default *sun* brightness settings? I have one, and it came so bright, it was unusable as it stood. Naturally, set like that, with the screen all black, it showed some backlight issues. Once I configured it to a usable range of brightness (I'd have to check, but I think it is at...
The speed is far more important in the above data, than the contrast ratio. All the same, you might reconsider the part about expense. I was really shocked to find that my ViewSonic went UP in price, since it came out (it was ~$415 when I got it in November, and it is $450 now), however I saw a...
You're bound to get a lot of advice here, I know I have. I bought my first LCD 3 months ago, and also had the same questions. Here is what I found were determining factors:
Speed: If you plan on watching movies or especially plan to play some games, then you'll want it to have a good response...
If the cooler bothers you, or you find it inefficient, you might consider getting a 3rd party cooler rather than just exchanging for another standard BFG card.

I agree 100%, and did what I suggested: I called up NewEgg. They confirmed it DOES come with the motherboard, and I made the obvious suggestion that they add this to the item description.
Albert
So they stopped giving the motherboard as of last week? Two reviews are from the last days and mention receiving the motherboard. NewEgg has the same card, same specs, and same bundled CDs for $295 without the motherboard, compared to this one for $66 more. I think it comes with the mobo, hecne...
Yes, it is poorly explained, but it is the motherboard/video card combo. Read the customer reviews if you doubt it. Anyhow the reference is what says it all: "eVGA 256-P2-N518" The N518 is the combo.

Here is a review from a site that I quite like. Instead of the usual high-lo frame-rates, and use of time demos, they find the sweet spot for each game and card, and tell you the best settings they found that were found to be playable. The link I gave is to a review of the 512 MB card, but uses...
Not sure you'll be able to downsize the resolution, though you may. Note that your computing experience will be problematic at such a low resolution. No program or web page today is configured for that resolution, so it will either be incredibly scrunched up, or will overboard the screen and...
Note also that your screen has a maximum resolution of 640x480 according to the site. So anything above that is going to be rescaled and automatically lose sharpness.

I bought the ViewSonic VP930b after researching it, as I wanted a versatile screen that was both good for games and watching movies, and all reviews said this was it. I've had the screen for 3 months and am very satisfied with it. I highly recommend this screen. Note that you'll get better image...
Just as an addendum, some of these plastic nails (or whatever you want to call them) need to be pinched to be pushed out as they have a tip that widens to help hold the motherboard in place. If that's the case, use some tweezers or mini pliers.
Albert
Note that he also said upcoming games based on the D3 and Valve engines. Besides, it shouldn't cost $300 since I see no reason why he couldn't sell off his used 6800 for at least $100.

Tom's Hardware
The next article only goes as low as the 6800GT, but it takes very little imagination to see that the plain vanilla 6800 would perform less well.

I'm upgrading from a plain XFX 6800 BTW, and I chose the Gigabyte model with the factory installed Zalman cooler...
Actually, that brings up a question someone might help with. I just got an NF4 Ultra mobo today myself. When I went to the nVidia site, I was confused by all options. Should I install the nForce4 AMD drivers or the AMD X16 drivers?
Albert
I just bought myself a Gigabyte 7800GT GV-NX78T256D-ZK, a 7800GT with a factory-installed Zalman cooler (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814125214) and should be getting it in a few days when my friend arrives from the US with it here to Brazil. The main reason for the...
Did you consider the Gigabyte Geforce 7800GT GV-NX78T256D-ZK which comes with a factory-installed Zalman cooler on it? That's what I chose for myself, and should be receiving it in a few days.
Albert
I chose a 7800GT for myself just yesterday. Every performance review I saw gave the nod to the 7800GT as did the prices over the Radeon 1800XL, so it wasn't a big choice in my view. My only real choice was in which model. I thought of the eVGA deal...
I got a Viewsonic VP930b and am very pleased with it. It is a top-notch monitor with great all-round functionality: meaning good with games, viewing movies, colors, image, etc. It also has a superb stand that can easily be set at different heights. The lowest height is under 14 inches, so it...
Oddest question I have seen. nVidia just released their version 81.95 of their graphics drivers. If it's any help, I get 8-9% improvement over the older 77.77 version according to the benchmark tests I ran to compare: 3DMark03 and Aquamark03.
Albert
Odd that it installed it to C:
I checked mine, though I think I'd have remembered such an oddity, and it is installed in C:\Program Files\Portrait Displays\PerfectSuite\
I haven't had any issues of stability with the software, and PerfectSuite is the tweaking software you are looking for. It...
I pondered the facts you gave for some time, such as 'Zenith', 'made in 2000', and 'insanely heavy', but couldn't quite place it. Have you tried http://www.zenith.com/ ?
Albert
P.S. When you look it up on the site, I'd suggest having the model number in hand. It will make the search easier.
I posted this in another thread, but will repost it here as it is relevant.
I've seen the pics of the bleeding and really have nothing like them. Sure, I have some slight in the corners in a dark room with a black screen, but that's bound to appear with any LCD frankly, and those...
I've seen the pics of the bleeding and really have nothing like them on my VP930b. Sure, I have some slight bleeding in the corners in a dark room with a black screen, but that's bound to appear with any LCD frankly, and those circumstances will possibly make it look worse than it is.
I...
I have no big issues. If I leave the screen black in a relatively dim room, I can see a bit at the corners, but it's not significant, and I really cannot see this in other circumstances.
Albert
I realize this is slightly overbudget, but I saw the BenQ FP91G+ (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824014090) a 19-incher with good specs for $267 (after a $30 mail-in rebate). If my budget had been about $250, this would have been a top candidate I am certain. Especially...
My thoughts exactly. I e-mailed them on exactly that. I even commented that there IS a review of the VP930b at their French site ! Just amazing. I'm still in love with my VP930b; love the great stand, love the image, the clear colors, video playback, and the game play. So that wouold be my...
If you're only interest is games, and your only worry is ghosting, then the VP930 is not your ideal mate. The very fast VX924 and the Samsung sacrifice colors, viewing angle, etc. for speed. The VP930 is a great all-round monitor, but it isn't the market's absolute fastest. I'm not saying it...
