Is there a guide out there for this stuff/ I don't understand half the options in the BIOS related to OCing, CPU base clocks, various multipliers, turbo mode, memory timings for DDR3 etc.
Any help would be appreciated. Right now I'm not even sure if I'm running at stock speeds or not. CPU-Z is...
Win 7 64bit, Radeon 5850, Cat 9.10
This is happening on hulu.com, where on full screen, the screen goes black after a while, but the audio is still playing. Recovering back to windows is almost impossible as the windows don't draw correctly even after windows automatically drops Aero...
My PSU (Corsair HX520) on a new build fires up the fans and mb lights, but I get nothing on the screen. I've tried two video cards and monitors, but same thing.
The thing is my older build had a very similar issue where the mb would try to boot up but end up with a error code in the test LEDs...
Are there any good drives out there that can burn blu-ray discs or play them? Any recommendations? Mainly, I want to be able to use my computer as an HTPC type setup to be able to pass video/audio through HDMI.
Last time I upgraded, DDR2 was the only thing out there. What do I need to know about DDR3? The dual vs. triple channel is confusing me a little right now.
Thanks
How much money will I have to spend to get noticeable increase in performance at 1920x1200?
I'm completely out of the loop on what's out their in the market. PCI-Express 2.0 16x the defacto standard now?
And what video card is considered mid or high range for both ATI and nVidia?
I recently had my IP-35 Pro setup go kaput, so I'm thinking of just upgrading from C2D.
What are some recommendations on solid motherboards? This represents a problem since I'm leaning towards the new socket i7. 1156 I guess.
I'm currently in the process of upgrading my system and right now have the Corsair HX520W which was great, but want to get something more beefier for my quad core, 4gb ram, a yet to be decided upon high powered GPU, 2 HDDs.
I like the Antec Signature series as well, but here you're paying for...
Back in the old days when we had such things as soundfonts and SoundBlaster was the only sound card known to man, I used to have a Midi keyboard and connected to my Sound Blaster 2(?) and worked pretty well for an amateur (i.e. crappy) musician like myself.
I still have a large collection of...

This will be my backup computer - not looking for anything fancy, just something cheap.
Anything I should before I pull the trigger?
Thanks
Recently, my primary computer broke down and I realized i have no backup at home (have a regular laptop at work, but I don't bring it home).
So, I'm looking for a netbook as a backup computer or for travel needs other than work (or maybe even for work).
The netbook should have good battery...
Not seeing to many affordable S-IPS panels, but maybe I'm not looking at the right ones.
For those with S-IPS panels, how noticeable is the ghosting when playing games? I don't play games that much, but just curious.
I own this 19" LCD right now and love it. I don't know what type of panel it uses but I'm basically looking to get a 24" LCD with the same (or better) general display characteristics.
Curious to know anyone who has upgraded from this monitor to a 24", if you can share your experience.
Some...
I'm looking for an HDTV to get and looking at some of the cheap options. What would you guys recommend? I will use the TV mostly for, well, viewing cable TV. I might at some later point connect a HTPC to it, but not sure yet.
Cheap brands that I've seen so far:
- Olevia
- Vizio

I hear some new stuff is "on the way" by mid year or later. Is that stuff worth waiting for? I don't really "need" to upgrade, but there some issues with my current set-up that do annoy me. Those issues are my computer not shutting down, I have to power it off from the back, otherwise it will...
I love their sound and especially the price, but after more then 30 mins of use, they start to really hurt my ears. I'm looking for a similar (or better) sounding phone that can cover my entire ear (circumaural?) and is comfortable enough for long durations.
I'd like to stick with the...
I tried the various PSU calcs, but they really just confused me even more.

I don't really have any "need" to upgrade I guess, but I've been on the same system for 3 years now and want a cheap upgrade till Vista + DX10 shows up and becomes somewhat affordable. As you can see I don't like spending too much on my computer. In fact the only reason I want to upgrade is...
It has run fine for 2+ years now but it's been acting weird lately. Sometimes after a cold boot, the FSB goes from 200 to 100Mhz. I have the Barton overclocked moderately and temps are good.
Is this likely a PSU issue or is the mb going bad?
What's this all about?

If they can pull it off with reasonable costs and live upto the hype, SED could be a winner.
Just called FujiPlus/MinMaw for the status of the FP-988D I had returned to them. They told me 4-6 weeks is the usual time. :(
Does anyone have tips on what I could tell them to speed this up? Thanks
Can't decide which is worse. I have the FP-988D, which is a great monitor, and it came with no dead pixels. However, it does have backlight bleeding issues.
Should I risk getting a replacement and possible dead pixels as a result or stay with what I have? Can't decide.
I'm not sure if this is a problem with my HD-497 or I'm just imaging it, but I seem to getting louder sound from the left side. Is this the same with other HD-497 owners or am I imagining it?
I found one earlier, but in typical fashion, lost the link.
There are really needs to be a sticky on top listing all programs and websites for dead pixel testing, color calibration etc.
I jumped on the deal a few weeks back from buy.com for the audigy 2 zs for $37 AR. Just got around to installing it and after listening to some music, was somewhat under whelmed.

It's a 5 yr old Maxtor 40GB HD and I wanted some more space and speed as well.
However, my computer is also 3+ yrs old and I'm not ready to commit any expensive upgrades to it. So, what would be the most cost-effective way for me?
Options:
1) 120GB+ 8mb cache HD PATA
2) 200GB+ 16mb cach HD...
Just got a chance to try mine out for 15mins.
Good: No dead pixels I could see
Clear, vibrant text and colors
Good response time that I noticed immediately coming from a 1905FP 20ms panel
Bad: Colors will need some fine tuning, but I think a good color balance is within reach
The very...
First time using a non-Windows based OS, Linspire 4.5. It came preinstalled on a system I just bought.. I actually like the look and feel of it, nice change of pace from Windows, but it is SLOW! Is Linspire really supposed to be this slow? I can barely multitask.
So, now I want to find a...
