Thanks. I just took a look at the benchmarks, and they match what I read in the AnandTech review of the 240GB 335 (that review also has the 240GB 330, and the 240GB 520 benchmarks).
It seems pretty clear that the 840pro blows everyone else away, but you're talking about paying an extra...
Just looked at some benchmarks... Is the 520 really that much better than the 330? It looked like the main area was in incompressible data.
I jumped on the New Egg deal the other day for the 240gb drive at $139. I think I value the extra 60 gigs of space more than I value the performance...
77 pages, plenty of passion about this game. I had heard there was an ending controversy, but avoided spoilers.
Finally finished it yesterday with a strength of mid 6000's. I agree with those that loved the game, and the series, hated the end. More specifically, I can almost promise with...
I'm at that part right now, on Hardcore. I've breezed through much of the game so far, but this fight seems to be a significant step up in difficulty.
Bummer to hear everyone hates the ending. I've tried to avoid spoilers, but it sounds like it's a downer. I've really enjoyed the game so...
I'd love to see something likes these for video cards. I've had a H50 for a while, and I'm pleased. My 5850 sounds like a leaf-blower, though, and with a double rad, I could see two separate systems or something (with two pumps), one for the CPU, one for the GPU.
RMA'd the drive, new one coming Monday. That said, I don't think it's the drive. Or not only the drive.
I reinstalled on an old drive, and am getting some of the same problems I was getting before. Monitor signal not coming through consistently. Fan on graphics card not working correctly...
System:
i7 920
Asus P6T
6 gigs of RAM (could look at specs if it matters)
Corsair TX750 PSU
DVD-RW drive
150gig Raptor
HD 5870
Win 7 Pro x64
Long story short, the system was water cooled, I had a leak, but everything seemed fine. I had some minor issues with my GTX 260 (the leak...
For those saying go with PDR (paintless dent removal), or any PDR techniques (ie. suction cup, dry ice, etc.), that won't work. Aluminum doesn't have the same memory qualities as steel, so a suction cup won't work.
I know few people that don't have some kind of marks on their MBP's. I...
Ok, I'm going to jump in here and see if I can use the forum expertise in this thread to get some input. There are two things about monitors that absolutely drive me nuts
1. The anti-glare sparkle coatings that Defbringer mentioned a few posts up. I am very sensitive to sparkles, and pretty...
Tempted by this, but worried about Newegg's dead pixel policy. I want to be able to return the monitor if it's not perfect. Maybe I'd be better off at a B&M?
No, but it did come with a little black plastic bracket to slightly increase the thickness of the drive for some applications.
Oh yeah, it also came with an "SSD's Rock!" sticker (seriously :D ).
Got mine this morning. FedEx sucks... It sat in their hub (about 4 miles from my house) all weekend, and they refused to let me pick it up, even with me offering to pay to do so. That was with paying extra for FedEx priority overnight. Worse, one of their customer service reps was incredibly...
JimHsu, Hmm, seems the only major difference was the 4k writes almost being halfed. How much of the drive's capacity are you using. Wonder if trim would fix this once implemented...
Ordered a 160 gigger last night from Newegg. Rush order + overnight shipping, total was like $475. Expensive, but I've been wanting an SSD for a good 8 or 9 months, and have been tracking the technology for almost 10 years!
Just wished they had gotten them in a day sooner so I could play with...
Just funny that such a narrow topic turned so broad. This topic was started about a specific SSD line from a specific manufacturer, with specific dates for a product refresh. It's turned into what I see as the best debate to date on this forum for the actual merits of an SSD. I applaud you...
Interesting how this thread has turned into the general SSD discussion thread. I don't mind, but find it funny.
I've been lurking for months on the DSS forum, watching the evolution of SSD's. Almost sprung for an X-25M when they were first released, then again a few months ago when Newegg...
Just to add my $.02, if you want to run Cat5e or Cat6 through your air return, you need to buy "Plenum" cable rather than "Riser". Plenum is rated for running through central air ducts, as it gives off no toxic fumes when it melts/burns.
It is, however, about 3x as expensive.
First, I did a search and spent a lot of time reading up on various threads, so I'll try to make this a little different than all the generic "which X58 mobo should I buy?" threads.
I picked up an i7 920, Asus P6T, and 6 gigs of Corsair 1600 ddr3 last night at Microcenter. I'm happy with the...
I sent an email to Orbitz with the link and a message saying I don't approve of their indirect support for Spam. I spend probably $10,000 per year through them on airline tickets and hotels (some business, some personal), and I think it important they get the message that their customers...
No offense, but I'm halfway tempted to call you out for trolling. Of course dual 7800 GT's in SLI with a 4000+A64 and 2 gigs of RAM can support a 22 inch LCD. That would be like me asking if a core 2 duo E6600 with 3 gigs of RAM and an 8800 can play WoW...
So I pulled the trigger today on a 22" TN Chimei panel from Microcenter ($269). I was looking heavily at the Samsung 226BW, but I came to the conclusion that none of the 22" TN panels are perfect, and I went by price, plus the Chimei panel gets great reviews.
After a few hours with it, I can...
This is flat out wrong. Unlike laser, radar is emitted from the radar gun as a cone. The cop points it at oncoming traffic, then checks the reading. The radar waves that bounce back from the car will tell him the speed. However, there are two issues involved.
#1, the car is never going to...
Yes. Problem is, sometimes they look online, and don't see it. But there must also be some sort of store inventory tracking system, because after a couple places told me they didn't have it, two different places were able to tell me the stores that did have it.
So the answer is yes, at...
Just picked up the last one at the Falls Church store in NOVA. I checked the DC and Arlington stores first (Arlington sold their last one today), none had any in stock. Getting the one from the Falls Church store was a PITA. FWIW, I was told the Maryland stores (New Carolton, Wheaton) still...
If FIOS is available, you'd be crazy not to get it. It's cheaper than cable, and offers 15/2 speeds, which blows everythinge else out of the water. I'm considering trying to get 30/5, but will need them to negotiate on the price.
Yeah, the database size is big (it's going to start with over 200 million, and we'll add more every quarter). However, I believe the data in it will be fairly limited/simple. We're only collecting like 30-50 pieces of data for each account.
We know the data very well, and how each data...
Ok, first, please keep in mind you're talking to someone who's pretty familiar with computer hardware, but not so much with software or coding. That is, I could probably configure a proxy server or definitely build a computer, but not write code in java or anything.
Anyway, here's my problem...
I downloaded through fileplanet. I've been absolutely thrilled with the download speeds if you're a full member (I signed up last fall to get a bunch of the MMORPG demos). If you're into gaming, I figure the cost is less than a MMORPG subscription.
I just got FIOS, and was averaging 15.3...
