i would say get the xbox360 and 40inch LCD HDTV. hate to say it, but computer gaming is dying. really, look at the PC games coming out now, mostly niche games like RTS or MMORPG. and this is coming from a rabid PC gaming fan.
i finally bit the bullet and bought an XBOX360 last week when...
pretty cool game so far... but the crappy framerates getting in the way of my enjoyment, and causing a bit of nausea to boot. no, not HL2 nausea, but just a little.
AMD 3200+ socket 754
6800gt AGP stock speeds
2gig ram
20 inch LCD w/ 1600x1200 native
defaulted to high settings at...
the most fun i had in UT2k4 or other online shooters was going back to the same servers and seeing the same people. it's the community aspect of these games that gives them depth and weight. i played WoW with some guild-mates yesterday and 3 hours went by like POOF. and i think the best part...
man, i'm beginning to realize how slowly my priest has been leveling. i'm at 33, and i've been playing about 2 hours a day for the past three weeks! that's slow. maybe it's me, but priests in this game get the shaft in terms of leveling. :(
but anyway yeah, it is a great game, very...
i've never played a MMORPG before WoW. as a first person snob, i looked down on all that "Dungeons and Dragons" crap that i thought i outgrew when i was twelve. but WoW changed my mind. after reading some good reviews and the fact that i loved the RTS warcraft series, i took the plunge and...
Server: Windjammer (normal)
Name: Voshin
Race: NIght Elf
Class: Priest
Level: 29
Mount: Ask again in 3 months
Guild: Limitless
Skills: First Aid (142), that's it
Favorite Activity: leveling up and learning new spellz!
i say give WoW a try. i've never played a MMORPG before and never thought i would. but playing in the warcraft world, having been a fan since the beginning, was too much to pass up. WoW is great for fans of RPGs, 1st person shooters, and RTS. it's just a well designed, beautiful, deep game...
just bought WoW yesterday, and my night elf priest is already at 11. i've been playing a lot! this is my first time on a MMORPG and i must say, it's really really addictive. great game. it's a black hole for my time.
in the prison level, i stacked boxes and barrels in one entry of the middle health room to block it off, then set up the three turrets on the other side, two facing back and one forwards. this worked OK, i still died a few times before i finished it! the manhacks kept cutting through my box...
i don't know about that. i was at compusa on friday and the pny 6800gts were at the low low price of $399 dollars. the 6600gts were $199, for the PCI-E version.
no joke! that's how i felt last night after the airboat level. almost did a dry heave. i was fine up until then. so it's obviously not the refresh rate or monitor for me as i've got an DVI LCD. i'm going to try that FOV thing if it continues, but hopefully it was just the boat level (which...
i used to get wicked motion sickness from playing the original half-life on my old crappy monitor a few years back. had to actually stop playing it.
just recently played HL1 again on my VP2001 viewsonic LCD and didn't have any problems with motion sickness. get an LCD! :p
i bumped down models one lower, seems to be working really well now. looks just as good. it's a very nice looking game! the pearl harbor scene is incredible.
i've played through the first few levels. i must say, it's pretty buggy. i don't think i have a slow system (athlon 64 3200, 6800gt), and the framerates drop in certain scenes.
even in the training mission, it was jittery. of course this is at max eye candy and 1280x1024.
i'm going...
it's out, i just got a copy (dvd) at EB today (the 5th). am installing it soon and will post a mini review on how it runs on my system :
athlon 64 3200
6800 gt
1gig 3200 ram
buy.com is showing a release date for half-life 2 on november 2nd instead of the "official" release of the 16th. does that mean steam pre-loaders like myself can get it then you think?
;)
i preloaded HL2 but haven't ordered it yet. my question is what if i upgrade my system, how can i move my legit copy of HL2 to my new computer? more of a hypothetical question since i just upgraded a couple of months ago.
when i got doom3, it forced me to go out and build a new computer...
thanks for the reply, the only problem is zalman doesn't make a GPU block that fits my 6800 gt yet. last i heard, at least.
second, i read one review of the zalman gpu block that showed it being worse than air cooling (it's a straight through "pipe"-type aluminum block).
Hey everyone, TIA for any help in this and forgive me if this was addressed in an earlier thread. I am interested in setting up my first WC system. Specs:
Athlon 64 3200+ (stock, for now ;) )
1 gb ddr 3200 ram
80 gb SATA western hd
XFX 6800 gt (370mhz/1000)
what i want out of a WC...
just got it... it seems harder than COD. i've had to die a few levels to figure out what scripted event i have to trigger, which guy i have to kill, etc.
and there are a LOT more guys. i agree with a previous poster, i don't think they respawn. there's just a lot of them and they're...
not sure about that one...
i actually tried that w/ the non- exe forceware drivers and couldn't get it to work right... maybe someone else can help...
why don't you just use the 61.77 exe from nvidia? i found they're the most stable. the newer ones (like from guru3d) are...
found this trolling around online. first you have to remove your ATI drivers completely (it seems doing that using the control panel add/remove of the ati drivers still leaves files and registry settings that will conflict w/ the new nvidia drivers). i found that out the hard way when...
no shi_, i thought the same thing when i saw the new thread.
anyways, these 76s are bunk drivers. not only did i lose framerates, but full screen video was all fcuked up. my wintv tuner, divx player, windows media player, all buggy in full screen modes... went right back to normal after i...
just ran 3dmarks2k3...
with 61.77 driver : 11080
with 65.76 driver : 10788
lost 400... hmmm. uninstalled the 61.77 drivers, so don't think it's a driver conflict.
specs:
athlon 64 3200+ (stock speed)
1ghz ultra ddr pc3200 ram
xfx 6800 gt (370mhz/1ghz)
80 gb western SATA hd...
The drivers also have an extra tab in the nvidia control panel that i found interesting, an AGP tab, where you can set AGP settings and are also able to turn off fast writes...
also, clock frequency settings are adjustable w/o need for coolbits reg editing. :p
just installed, will run a...
just played it, looks awesome. i thought the aiming was a bit none responsive... couldn't get the crosshair to go where i wanted it to exactly... or maybe that's just my bad aim
i like when you get really hurt, the screen gets all blurry and a medic can come help you get back to...
where did you guys buy it? newegg still says ETA 9-10-4. amazon says shipping in 1-2 weeks... i'm itching to get this.
and is it as heavy as the mx700? that's the one big drawback i thought to the mx700.
oh, great "laser" still lol :D
doubt it's your power. i have a 350 with practically the same rig. i had instability problems too after i installed my 6800gt. i reformated the drive, installed fresh 61.77 drivers, flashed the mobo. that fixed mostly everything, except i was still getting occasional stutters in doom3 at...
