I have set up profiles through the NVidia control panel for my two output displays (Samsung 2253 monitor @ 1680x1050, Connected through DVI) and my television (Sony 42" LCD @ 12890x768, connected through a VGA cable). The profiles are TV: Cloned display with the Sony TV as the primary, and...

The four pin connector on the 8800GT, what are the 4 pins? Is it possible to modify and connect an aftermarket fan to the board header to allow you to use the onboard throttle control to regulate fan speed?
I have installed the supposedly silent Arctic Cooling Turbo module, and it's the noisiest fan in my case. It sounds like any other 80mm fan running at a decent speed. Is there something wrong with mine, or have other people noticed it's noise too?
And why didn't it have the 4 pin connector...
So I'm unclear on the use of the JMicron controller outside of a RAID setup. If you aren't running a RAID array, is there any reason to keep the driver enabled in the BIOS? or can it just be disabled (Running 2 non raid SATA drives).
I know it's an older chip, but I finally decided to start playing around with OCing today.
(Crossposted with the C2Duo OC guide thread)
Well, I've had some great fun lately.
2x1GB Corsair PC-5300 4-4-4-12
C2Duo 6300

I have a P5B (vanilla) and am going through the paces of OCing, but in Speedfan, there is an extra temperature that I can't figure out, I have "Core 0" and "Core 1" which are the core temps that the CPU Temp application picks up on, but there is also a "CPU" temperature report that is...
On the creative PCI-E X-Fi card, there is the usual array of analogue outputs, plus an optical in/out connection. Can you run both the digital and the analogue outputs at the same time? (ie. I need my computer to output to my multimedia speakers and also output to my receiver).
Will all sound...
My system setup currently consists of a full tower in my basement that is hooked up to a Logitech 5.1 speaker system, then I have the whole system wired (USB, video, audio) through a wall conduit to my living room where I have a Dolby/DTS receiver. What I am currently doing, is running L/R audio...
So with the release of the 38xx series, it's got me thinking about upgrading again.
A while back, there was a really great videocard roundup that covered all the way back to 3dfx cards and I found it was a really good baseline comparison for when you are upgrading after a couple of years...
I am looking for a fairly inexpensive IR receiver (USB) to be used with my programmable universal remote and Windows MCE. I use my computer as a do-all/ HTPC, it's physically located in the basement with Audio/Video/power-reset/USB cables running up to the living room on the main floor. Right...
In short: How do I remove the black borders from my PC VGA signal?
I have a Sony KF42E200A (42" LCD rear projection set) and I am running a 15' VGA cable to the set from my basement. Following the manual I am using the recommended 1280x768 resolution (Odd dimension for a 16:9 set I know), the...
Short Version: What's better for performance: Sapphire X1900GT, or AT X1900AIW?
I'm pricing up a new system, and for effectively the same price I can get either a X1900GT (Sapphire) or a X1900AIW.
I don't need the extra features of the AIW, but from looking at the specs it seems like the...

My DVD player is having some issues, and I am unsure if it's the drive, or a driver issue.
DVD-R, DVD+R and DVD data discs play fine, DVD movies however, don't.
In the device manager I have two entries for the DVD player
One says:
Matshita DVD-ROM SR-8587
The other:
Generic DVD-ROM SCSI...
I have built a system on the cheap for a friend, 1024MB Samsung RAM, Asus K8N mainboard, Sapphire 9600XT AGP card, Athlon 3000, IDE 160GB WD drive. I have installed XP Home, all the latest drivers.
The problem: Randomly, the computer will lock up, and it's a 50% chance that the VPU recovery...
I built up a system for a friend, and he gets intermittent crashing of his VPU. The VPU recovery tool saves it, and it's business as normal, so it's more of an irritation than anything else.
The problem manifests itself as: Video image locks up for ~1s, crash to desktop with a VPU recovery...
I just built up a system for a friend with an Athlon 64 2800, Asus A8n board and a Sapphire 9600XT, all in an Antec case. Everything seems to work perfectly fine, except, when playing games, there are some random crashes that invoke the VPU recovery, they are after a good bit of gaming normally...
I have 2 broken shortcuts in the start menu quicklaunch (Not the task bar quick launch, the one in the start menu, on the left). The shortcuts have kept their original names, but are not valid, and cannot be removed from the list, nor can they be renamed, edited or changed in any other way...
I need to find a technical drawing showing all the locations of the RAM and necessary clearances for an ATI AIW9800Pro. I want to build a RAM heatsink out of billet aluminium, and want the thing to be as accurate as possible, so would rather find a drawing that rely on measurements.
